So, what is Tezzeret up to? Serving Bolas, or attempting to break away from him? It seems most people here seem to want to ignore that Test of Metal every happened (I'm not going to object), but perhaps Tezzeret and the Phyrexians reached some other kind of understanding?
I'm guessing based on the last story and him wanting to transport gearhulk's plus sized object, the planar bridge, Tezzeret "the Schemer", dark intimidation card and us going to a nicol bolas plane next that Tezz is going to attack Bolas with this robotic army he has built up from Kaladesh
From what I can gather of Dark Intimations Bolas or the Gatewatch stop that plan right in its tracks. The ruined machine in the art of that card also looks suspiciously like the planar bridge... which makes me kinda sad because of all the story possibilities it could create.
Yeah that's kinda what I gather from Dark Intimations, Bolas ****s up whatever Tezzeret is doing (hopefully it's a I may have loss this battle but I have not lost the war situation) and that leads us into the next block
Maybe Bolas is creating a robotic army in order to battle the forces of phyrexia? Tezz left because they were getting out of hand. Planeswalker may be able to travel to different planes but they can't bring back large items. This is why bolas wants this.
Well... It seems they stepped up the quality of the trailer's cgi compared to previous ones where there was hardly any animation at all.
There sure is more of original pics and not only animated card art, especially when compared to Kaladesh one. KTK and DTK had some CGI parts (always in the beginning and the end with Sarkhan/Ugin), but this is by far the most "original" one.

It was alright. Pacing felt a little weird to me. Taking the Hub seemed way too easy. Eh.
Agree on the WAY too easy part. This thing fuels the city and Tezz's invention crew, and it's taken just like that, unless Gonti has a hand in making it easier?
That said, I appreciate the last parts where Rashmi stated that they are inventors at their cores, they are here to take back their right to invent freely, not to destroy out of vengeance. Quoting Hanna, Ship's Navigator: "I'm a maker, not a destroyer."
It was alright. Pacing felt a little weird to me. Taking the Hub seemed way too easy. Eh.
Huh, it was supposed to be easy. Remember "Quiet Moments":
Gideon nodded to the leonin. "Ajani's right. If we cause a diversion, maybe we can pull some of Tezzeret's forces onto us."
"I think we could do one better." Pia smiled, a grin that grew as she continued talking. "If this is as important as Saheeli says, other targets may be soft to a strike right now. Maybe we don't strike just for a diversion, but strike to capture something we need."
"I take it you have a target in mind?"
"We take the Aether Hub."

It was simply unsatisfying. Honestly that's been a big problem with the story for me since the switch to the Gatewatch. It just comes too easy for them. They stumble blindly into solutions, or their supposedly dangerous foe just dumbly leaves themselves open at obvious points and bibbity-bobbity-boo cataclysmic event endangering the multiverse is solved!
Don't TELL us stuff happened to enable the win. SHOW us.
I personally loved this chapter. Felt like a movie, the transition cuts before the climactic final third of the story. I would not have wanted another drawn-out battle to tell the story of the taking of the aether hub which we knew was already gonna happen and isn't particularly juicy, plot wise.
The speeches were actually meaningfully-told. Even Chandra's until she got all Chandra-y and lashed out.
Nothing particularly surprising but it's probably one of my favorites of the block so far. Totally looking forward to airship battlez
Is it just me or did Sram not feel very mono-White at all? He was just guy doing his job. Yeah, he refused to follow his superior’s order for moral reasons, but mainly because it would severely screw up the entire city if he did what Kambal said and he didn’t want to be blamed for that. When the rebels get there he just surrenders because they promise not to treat him horribly. He really just felt like an ordinary person trying to do their job. Nothing really made him feel White.
White is the color of law, order, and rules. For his entire life Sram has believed in, worked for, and excelled in a set system with set rules that has kept peace and order in Kaladesh for years. All of a sudden the rules are changing, he doesn't necassarily love it or feel comfortable with it, but he still believes in the system so he'll make the best of the situation. I agree that Sram is just a regular decent enough dude trying to do his job but tbh that is a very white mono-white thing to do. Character traits like sympathy, mercy, and kindness are not unique to white and shouldn't be expected in every mono-white character (just ask Heliod). If you look at white as the color of lawfulness rather than the color of goodness Sram's actions and motivations make perfect sense, and I feel he's a clear fit in mono-white.
I really enjoyed most of today's story. Like others, I felt the taking of the hub seemed pretty easy, but I'm willing to chalk that up to the advantage of surprise and Gonti's exotic weaponry giving the rebels the edge. On a side note, it seem's like Sram and Dovin Baan are genuinely decent people who are just too caught up in the system to see how out of control it's gotten. Since the consul seems to have been historically good for Kaladesh I hope some kind of peace agreement can be reached with it after the corrupt aspects like Tezzeret, Kambal, and Baral have been expunged.

This is a problem I have. That feels like such and "black and white" solution. If you read some of the flavor texts of the terrorists it really feels like they hate ANY sort of restriction rather than just unreasonable ones. It feels less like something that went to far and more like a group of people who are using tighter laws as a justification to tear down a system for their own benefit. Pia's revolution based on personal revenge feels like a black-aligned one rather than the red-aligned one it's supposed to be, and her followers only exemplify that.

"Ordinary person trying to do their job" fits White better than it does any other color. "Just following orders" is a very White mentality to have.

A revolution based on personal revenge seems very Red to me. Red is ultimately the color of love, the color of hate, the color of taking things personally. Besides, the Renegades have a lot of Green and Black cards associated with them too, so the conflict is really a Chaotic Jund faction vs. a Lawful Esper faction more than Red "good guys" vs. Blue "bad guys".
The Consulate aren't purely villainous, just like the Renegades aren't purely heroic. They're both morally grey. The only actual heroes are the Gatewatch, and it's been established that the only reason they're on the Renegades' side is because they're hunting down the rogue Planeswalker who now happens to be controlling the Consulate. Even then, Gideon seems to be very reluctant to interfere in the conflict any more than is necessary to stop Tezzeret.

Nah, it's at least made clear she cares about Kaladesh as a whole.
Then again being driven by irrational impulses is Red's thing anyways
Didn't the artbook come out today? How come nobody had spoiled the entire story so far?

Gatewatch beat Tezzeret, destroy the bridge and Tezzeret absorbs the core of the bridge. He is on a mission for Bolas and not acting on his own

Gatewatch won? I didn't expect that lol Did he said what was the bridge for?
Maybe won was the wrong choice. All he said was the bridge was destroyed in their battle and Tezzeret absorbed the core. All we know this means that he and Bolas have a "seed" for a new bridge.
I had asked why Ajani joined and he said that it didn't say but he believes it because they all found out Tezzeret was still working for Bolas and Tezzeret was doing all this on a mission for Bolas. Didn't wanna ask more since i figured he was already getting tons of people asking

And the grand finale just got spoiled (courtesy of the artbook)
- Rebels and Gatewatch attack the main Aether Spire with the Bridge.
- Heart of Kiran carries an "aether disruptor" to destroy the bridge.
- Jace creates an illusionary fleet. Baral disallows it, but it is too late already.
- The Spire is defended by modified inventions including the Ion Aether Cannon. Pia releases gremlins to eat it up just before it fires on Heart or Kiran
- Dovin Baan, stowed aboard Heart of Kiran, sabotages the aether disruptor.
- Liliana faces off Tezzeret but fails to kill him because of shielding artifact minions. Gideon and Chandra arrive aback a thopter, and instead of the disruptor, Chandra releases (for a change) a big BOOM to destroy it. Planar Bridge is destroyed. Chandra survives only thanks to Gideon extending his invulnerability shield to her.
- Tezzeret was beaten, but escaped with the core of the Planar Bridge stowed in his body to Bolas.
- Dovin Baan's fate after he sabotages the Heart of Kiran is unknown (but he is mentioned as "off the table" at the end, along with Tezzeret, who left Kaladesh
- With Dovin and Tezzeret off, the Consulate does not want to fight. Pia holds the rebels. Aether flow is reestablished, inventions returned.
- Baral was arrested.
- Pia survived and is invited to talks with the Consulate to establish a new, more fair order.
- The Gatewatch and Ajani concludes Bolas's involvement. Ajani wants to gather more forces and suggest regrouping on Dominaria. The Power Rangers are however all too eager to kick Bolas's ass immediately /and free the oppressed people of Amonkhet/, so they brace for a big fight there. The End.
P.S. Seems that the dreams of Heart of Kiran as the new Weatherlight would remain just dreams....:)

Oh, man...
I don't know about you but I'm getting a bit sick and tired of these ''losses'' that the Gatewatch is experiencing. They did manage to kill Ulamog and Kozilek but Zendikar got ruined. They did manage to save Innistrad but Emrakul had sealed herself in the moon because that was her plan all along. Now they manage to beat Tezzeret but he escapes with the core. It is like the writers are too afraid to make them lose and are giving us these quasi victories so that we won't complain how the Gatewatch never loses.
Did Ajani actually mention Dominaria?
I never thought that I would see the day when we return to Dominaria.
Yeah, he did. It is in the third scan.
What intrigues me..."They were eager to free Amonkhet from its dictatorial ruler and defeat Bolas once and for all, before he could complete any dire schemes he had put in motion. So they set sights on Amonkhet, bracing themselves to find a hellscape full of Bolas's unwilling slaves."
It would be ironic for them to find Amonkhet to be a peaceful world, full of willing subjects, not understanding what the heck the group of foreigners want to do here...

So I think that overview sounds awesome, can't wait to read a more in depth version as the stories come out but from that overview I feel very satisfied and like the direction things are heading story-wise.
Also
Dominaria Hype!!! and who are the back up Ajani is thinking of? Tamiyo? Narset? New faces all together. Also, the one look we got at Amonkhet made it look pretty peaceful, stable, and idyllic. It may be a rude awakening for the gatewatch if they go there expecting a hellscape.

Was anyone else surprised Baral was mono-blue? I know it fits in the cycle and he's counterspell man but his character and motivations have always seemed more white aligned to me. I certainly was expecting him to be part blue, just not entirely (I expected a UW card). Was anyone else surprised by this? And in what ways would you say Baral is a mono-blue character?
