Well if Tezz has the tech he can build a planeswalkimg ship anywhere now and is free to build his own space jumping ship (or fleet). So if he's building a new interplanetary ship that's kinda cool. Bolas coming as back up to protect tech he's interested in definitely seems plausible.
Heart of Kiran could be the heros answer after they rescue rashmi and she/Jace/saheeli perfect the tech by rashmi studying planeswalkimg patterns from the walkers themselves. A smaller but more stable ship to chase after Tezz. Being powered off of a walkers loyalty is maybe a flavor way of them powering it with life essence or the spark itself? Maybe the spark gets weaker as the ship makes jumps to and from different planets. I dunno, seems very on purpose design wise.
As for Tezz, didn't bolas put a second persona in his mind in test of metal? Jace tried mind reading/attacking him in the confrontation with pia I think didn't he? Bolas could be in there playing mind defense. Maybe bolas' body was dying and the tech is one step closer to bolas figuring out a way to transfer himself to another host (professor X style). Tezz is just "carrying" him around for the time being. Would be a great plot hook if they eventually find out about Karn and try and dig up any of Urzas research on spark transfers (which leads them back to phyrexia and memnarchs storyline...) Could also fold ugin back into the plot as an acceptable host if he can be rendered near dead again.
The interplanetary ships also allows a dynamic cast of non-walkers who are actually powerful and motivated to join into the overarching plot. It's a great callback to the older cast without reintroducing an absurdly powerful old walker. Puts Tezz in a higher playing field so they have to team up against him as he can just wipe the floor with anyone screwing with him if bolas imparted some strong power Or himself into Tezz.
The main problem is they have repeatedly said they have no intention of allowing nonplaneswalkers the ability to planeswalk. Because it kind of defeats the purpose of being a planeswalker. This portal has the very significant drawback of destroying organic matter that passes through, and while Tezzeret is obviously building a portal to use for something, he is building a PORTAL not a device that would allow a ship to planeswalk but a stable single portal.

Wizards have changed their minds before or have mislead through intentional deception.
Rashimi developed something that would allow non-Planeswalkers to planeswalk. While the first iteration did not allow organic matter to planeswalk doesn't mean Rashimi can't figure that out (for plot purposes). If Wizards creative doesn't want to non-Planeswalker to planeswalk, that doesn't stop the bad guys from transporting inorganic matter like robots (robot invasion of another plane, for example).

Phyrexians close enough?
I still think Phyrexia comes into play in this sooner or later. Bolas sent Tezzeret there for a reason. Immediately after he sends him to Kaladesh- for a reason. Now Tezzeret's back in play, Bolas is coming back into play this set or the next (I love the idea of there not being a Bolas card in this set, meaning Dark Intimation's true value will have to wait).
I'm looking more forward to the Chandra/Baral fight right now, personally.

In my mind there's a simple solution to the organic matter issue: Encase the organic matter in something inorganic, like a reverse Terminator. Could be a ship, could be a cocoon of some kind. There's a strong history of the neowalkers bringing non-living things with them from plane to plane; I always wondered why they didn't ever try putting some living thing inside of a capsule to take with them across planes. It would have been one of the first things I tried.
Heart of Kiran is making me feel it is too much like (and I've said this before and I'll say it again) Avengers, with the helicarriers keeping teams together across missions. My gut says planeswalking ship. If Pia survives, it would help keep Chandra from being bound to Kaladesh by taking Pia with them as the ship engineer or whatever.
Also, Kaladesh is all about using and controlling the aether to power things; what would happen if Tezzeret or Bolas, or both, found a way to channel all of that energy somehow into a planeswalker to make them near to a god again, like the Alara conflux?
Part of me feels like he's making the transporter to push New Pyrexia to other planes, since he's all about the metal/Etherium is perfection thing and helped set up part of new Phyrexia. An easy access gate for the oil or even full phyrexian armies to cross through. Kaladesh is already mostly metal and even if they blow up the bridge he's probably learned how it works an how to possibly build another one if he an find a good plane without interference.

From an alternate perspective, personally not that psyched that Ajani is in the Gatewatch. I always thought of him as the wandering good guy uncle type, maverick-y in a sense, and it felt right flavor-wise for the Gatewatch to have five members, of each color. Now I get the sense that good-guy walkers are just going to be lumped into GW, and now where one of them goes, the others are sure to follow, which is the opposite of what I wanted (been on GW overload for a while now).
There will be no sweet release or easing of strictly GW stories if even outsiders, far removed from the Eldrazi-threat inspiration for the GW, are now going to also join up.
Which puts into sharp relief that we have zero (I think) information or insight to an opposing side of planeswalkers. No broad, past-inclusive story from Tezzeret's perspective (yet). Sarkhan no longer hitched to Bolas. No info on Bolas. Ramaz seemed wild in his art, but no word on anything about him. I'd really like to know more about the 'baddies,' in which I don't include Nixilis, since he seems outside of it (like I thought Ajani might be).
Are there other Bolasites besides Tezz, Sarkhan, and Ramaz? Am I missing intel to the 'opposing side' of the GW?
Is it a good idea to make more oaths for more and more planeswalkers?

Well sorry to break it to you, but it looks like Gatewatch might become our new protagonists :roll eyes:
This isn't really a surprise, Maro has hinted that we'd see more than "the founding 4". Also Ajani isn't the wondering good guy character strictly, he is lost and looking for purpose, which is what I believe his oath is hinting at. We also saw another "heroic" planeswalker not join with Tamiyo and depending on the story we may or may not see Saheeli join either. Ajani seemed very much like a natural fit and it will let the story diverse more since we won't be tied with just the same five.

I hope that Saheeli joins up too because she has been criminally underused in the story comsidering that she was the face of Kaladesh. We don't really even know enough about her personality for me to decide if I want to see her every block. But she can't be any more boring and one-dimensional than most of the Gatewatch, right?

Yeah, I really want more of Saheeli. Arlinn Kord got a lot of good characterization in SOI despite being basically separate from the plot. Saheeli is entwined with the main plot, but I don't feel like I've got a good sense of who she is yet.

This is my theory about the Heart of Kiran:
It is the Weatherlight 2.0, using Rashmi's teleporter tech. The teleporter teleports things by pushing them into the blind eternities, then pulling them back out in a different location. However, the blind eternities destroy living things. (Her teleporter would probably work on planeswalkers though.) It probably has a pocket plane that can be maneuvered so that the entire ship can be teleported into it without entering the blind eternities and then travel to a different plane.

It appears to show Tezzert's plans failed with Bolas's shadow cast over the devastation. Though it could be a number of things, we won't really know until the story that features that event.
Hey everyone sorry but I have a lazy request. Only time I can check things online anymore is while at work... so needless to say my researching isn't what it used to be.
Last I saw deep in the story what EM, with the eldrazi sealed.
I've been trying to follow the new set(s) but don't seem to see anything too eventful. Can someone give me a recap?
So far I see that there's a new artifact plane. Chandra's home world. Saw mom. Little political problem with all that?
Tezz is there but I don't know why. Bolas is coming.
Reading on this thread that someone developed a new teleporter for something big.
Aside from gatewatch emotion nonsense (ugh the power rangers) am I missing anything big or important???
You got the jist of it, Keramory. Kaladesh is indeed Chandra's home plane, Tezzeret is indeed there (for reasons unknown) and is working with the Consulate (government), and someone (Rashmi, a Kaladesh native and friend of Saheeli) did create a teleporter, which was just confirmed to have interplanar capabilities. Aside from that, we know that Ajani (who has been on Kaladesh for months investigating Tezzeret) will join the Gatewatch, and that Nicol Bolas is indeed involved. That's pretty much all the major plot points at this time. There's some more speculative things, but we'll have to see how things turn out.
Thank you I appreciate it. My only question left is... is this level of... slowness normal? I started paying attention at bfz on as a magic player so I know I have a very small scope but... it just seems so slow and uneventful in comparison. I used to read the wikis for past stories but obviously that doesn't help gauge story progress as it comes out.
I love the set itself for the cards but this block just seems so uneventful.
Well it's different. Stories used to be told through novels, so at least people could pick up the book. Now that the story is all online, they make it episodic so it mostly lines up with the length of the set. (Note that they start the stories for the block earlier now so that people don't have events ruined by the cards in the set). Also, this current storyline is relatively new. Magic Origins served as a soft reboot, and we're still dealing with the gatewatch getting on it's feet, the villains acting in the background, and so on. I expect things to pick up come Amonkhet block, where Nicol Bolas takes center stage, but until then, I wouldn't expect the speed of the stories to be any faster.
So, what is Tezzeret up to? Serving Bolas, or attempting to break away from him? It seems most people here seem to want to ignore that Test of Metal every happened (I'm not going to object), but perhaps Tezzeret and the Phyrexians reached some other kind of understanding?
I'm guessing based on the last story and him wanting to transport gearhulk's plus sized object, the planar bridge, Tezzeret "the Schemer", dark intimidation card and us going to a nicol bolas plane next that Tezz is going to attack Bolas with this robotic army he has built up from Kaladesh
