A post in the general thread reminded me to ask this.
In the Ravnica storyline, what creatures or setting elements are being referenced in cards like Nightcreep, netherborn phalanx, and Lord of the Void? Was there some kind of cthulhu dimension, or conspiracy involving otherworldly forces afoot in the storyline? Or were these guys just the settings generic Horror model, or minions of Szadek?

Though I guess technically they are naturally occuring horors (as shown on Lord of the Void) and the Dimir simply adopted them for their own purposes.
