I think Ashiok is the missing link here. Ashiok was on Theros experimenting with the gods, and even managed to create a proto-god. If, as I suspect, they succeeded on the Trials, they could be an agent of Bolas (look at those horns, especially compared to the Pharoah art). They could have been there to learn how to manipulate the magic and create actual gods to watch over Amonkhet.
Edit: I also updated the first post to include some more images that may be relevant.
Has it been confirmed that the third demon is on Amonkhet?

Today's story, Renegade Prime, seems to give weight to the whole "one of Liliana's demons is on Amonkhet" theory.
It had been centuries since someone had used that tone with her—often it was the last thing they did. But Liliana had plans, plans that needed powerful allies.
I'm super excited for Amonkhet because it seems like one of the few planes that can deliver the spirit tribe in full force.

I'd be delighted to get an Amonkhet pantheon of gods, I think there would have to be measures taken to ensure they felt mechanically and thematically different from the Theros gods. Notably, I think they shouldn't be enchantments.

A lot of people are really hoping for Egyptian god cards (I SUMMON SLIFER THE SKY DRAGON) but I think they could go another way with Amonkhet. I wouldn't be necessarily opposed to having gofs in the same vein as the cycles from Theros although I belive the argument can be made that it may be a little soon for another round of that. I belive there are a few options for how the gods will operate on Amonkhet.
1. The gods exist and are simply complacent to Bolas' schemes for some reason.
2. The gods exist and serve Bolas willingly.
3. The gods exist and Bolas has the gods on a leash.
4. The gods exist but are unable to directly intervene on the plane (see: The Elder Scrolls).
5. The gods don't actually exist and Bolas has constructed a religion of false figures to manipulate the people of the plane for millennia.
Personally, I believe 5, 2 and 4 are the most interesting of the bunch in that order but 3 also definitely gives Bolas some street cred.
I had a different idea altogether: What if Bolas himself is one of the gods of Amonkhet? Xenagos was a Planeswalker who managed to turn himself into one of the gods of Theros. Perhaps at some point in his exceptionally long life, Bolas was able to incorporate himself into the pantheon of Amonkhet the same way. If a mere satyr could find a way to do it, then a 25,000 year old Elder Dragon probably could too. And if I remember correctly, Xenagos still retained his spark and his ability to travel between worlds after ascending to godhood, so Bolas traversing across the multiverse doesn't preclude him from being a god on one plane.
After all, Bolas frequently described himself as a god, maybe he meant it more literally than anyone knew! If this turns out to be true, it means that Bolas is even more powerful than usual on Amonkhet, since he'd have the near-omnipotence of a god there. It also means we might be seeing two Bolas cards in this block: Just like Xenagos, he'd get a Planeswalker card and a Legendary Creature card to represent his godly form. It can also be inferred that the gods of Amonkhet are tri-colored, as opposed to mono-colored and dual-colored like the gods of Theros.
That would be a neat way to do things. Also it isn't like Egypt throughout its LONG* history didn't adopt the gods of other people into their faith. Of course, for polytheists this is perfectly fine. One can easily worship another god that they don't often worship without any issue. After all the Egyptian Goddess Aset** or Isis became rather popular with the Greeks and later Romans. There were various deities of the near east that entered the faith as Egypt expanded during the New Kingdom, Such as the Goddess Qetesh; not to mention the various Greek and later Roman deities
Of particular interest is Amun. Amun was often combined with different deities, mostly in the new kingdom IIRC. So you had Amun-Re, Amun-Horus, and Zeus Ammun. Perhaps something similar is going on with Bolas here?
*Ancient Egypt's history is really long. I mean Cleopatra VII is closer to us in the Modern day nearly 2000 years later then she was to the Pyramids.
**Most of the names that we know the various deities of Egypt by are greek not Egyptian. Hence Isis instead of Aset/Isis or Osiris/Aser.
Also as there were people speaking about respecting cultures. I would be happy if Jermey Jarvis never tried to erase a faith again like he did at the Pax Panal: "no one is worshiping Zeus currently" as that isn't true as there is the religion of Hellenismos and Religio Romana in addition to numerous other pagans that worship the Greek Deities. And as we are talking about Amonkhet here. Yes people today worship the Egyptian Gods and Goddess.
So here is hoping they don't say things like that again.
That kind of bugged me too. Now, we might not be a super large/mainstream group, but that isn't the same as no one. That and it seems odd to do Kami with Kamigawa when Shinto is still around, yet be iffy about it with Hinduism. Larger group, but that doesn't really mesh with the logic they used.

From what I understand Japan sees religion very differently then most other places, not as big as a part of their cultural backbone, as well a many people practice a mixes of Shinto, Buddhism and other religions instead of "pure" Shinto. That is also why many things in Japanese media (like the Final Fantasy games) can seem very anti-religion.

True. Mostly I just want Wizards not to do any erasing of my own and similar faiths. Personally I liked Theros as a plane. The main thing I didn't like was that to get the full story you had to buy the e-book. Which is why I am glad that stories are being handled.
Anyways to get it back to Amonkhet. I am curious how they will handle the dead and afterlife. Since the blurb explicitly mentioned the afterlife. Furthermore, Egyptian afterlife was generally pleasent IIRC. I wonder if the Osiris expy would be Green/Black and a more good/heroic god? Osiris in addition to being king of the Kingdom of the Dead also holds power over vegetation and growth. A Green/Black god would also make for a nice contrast with Pharika the Green/Black goddess of Affliction on Theros.

They do, but the concern seemed to be about offending people in general, which makes it kind of odd still. Just seems strange.

As someone with similar beliefs I would like that. I think Theros was great, and I imagine Amonkhet will be the same. Kamigawa too looked great. I wasn't offended in any way, and while I can't speak for everyone I think most would be more offended by saying they don't exist more.
Would be nice to see a Black/Green figure in general I like. It's the color combo that I'm least connected to.

If they are going with tri-colored gods, an Osiris inspired deity could be White/Green/Black, sharing traits with Karametra (plenitude and growth) and Athreos (life and death) as well as Pharika (health and sickness).
So we have Bolas. It's unlikely he didn't notice the Gatewatch, a group of kids that put down some of the most fearsome entities that took the combined effort of ancient planeswalkers to seal away.
I'm also interested in seeing the Gatewatch taken down a peg. They haven't really been up against a thinking foe, a planning foe. A foe that's expecting them and preparing for them, and has great power and wide influence. Defeating Ulamog and Kozilek wouldn't prepare them for that. They were more like a force of nature than an actual enemy. Emrakul does seem to be intelligent, in a vastly incomprehensible way, but really, she wasn't the real "villain" of the block. Nahiri was the closest thing to a true, active antagonist, and Jace and pals never actually interacted with her! Emrakul was just the monster Nahiri brought to the party, and she simply let herself be "imprisoned". I'm not entirely sure how Kaladesh is going to shake out, but... I have this sneaking suspicion it's a lot more low-stakes than the previous two blocks. They need a palate cleanser, I suppose.
Nicol Bolas has had interactions with Chandra, Jace and Liliana. I refuse to believe he doesn't keep an up-to-date file on each of them. After all, he's probably got agents on Ravnica and Zendikar, just like he did for Alara and Mirrodin, and he's bound to have an idea what they've been up to. Bolas is the kind of villain that the Gatewatch hasn't encountered before. He's proactive. If the Gatewatch really is "The Avengers", then Nicol Bolas is Kang the Conqueror. He's Doctor Doom. He's the one with resources and intelligence, plans upon plans, who makes even a victory by the heroes a means to further his grand designs.
And it looks like Amonkhet has Aven, Ainok?/Jackle people and goat?/bull? people and/or minotaur and giants with crocodiles head.

Nice find! Aven and Ainok seem to be a given. I was going to say they're rams, but the only ram we have had so far, Rustspore Ram is a sheep. So maybe we get sheep-people?
Interestingly there were a couple of ram-based dieties in ancient egyptian mythology, the most pominent being Khnum, so it actually makes sense.

Could be, personally wouldn't mind too terribly. But I wonder if Wizards is willing to print minotaurs in an egyptian set. The name itself feels off in the setting.
After what they did to the Naga on Tarkir, I doubt they are too concerned with having too many different-but-very-similar races. I can see sheep people in Magic despite there already being minotaurs.

Yeah, it could go either way.
As for Minotaurs, there was a lot of cross-pollination between Greek and Egyptian culture. Just look at where Crete is compared to the two countries. I don't think it's too out-of-place.
I added the art book cover to the OP. Also, for your viewing pleasure, see attached image.
Nice find! Is Theros within the development timeframe of Amonkhet? I've thought it was around three years to develop, so was Theros coming out as Amonkhet was being planned? That might be a decent reason for the armor similarity, if Ashiok has been to/is from Amonkhet.

Given Vengeful Pharaoh, they've been planning a Bolas Egypt plane for a long time. I think Ashiok was just seeded as vaguely Egyptian, for potential use later.
Bit speculative here, but let's say Ajani is in Amonkhet as a GW walker, which we've been told he would be going forward. It's a safe bet at least Bolas would be in the block as his old UBR self, and we could see either/or/both Liliana and Ashiok if speculation of home plane and demonic connections are true. That would be two more B walker options in the block, so I'd be curious to see if we'd be getting a new Boros or Gruul walker for balance. I also have an unfounded but sneaky suspicion we'll see Koth on Amonkhet, trying to track down Ajani again. Just a thought.
Point is, we could be looking at a very black walker block like how Kaladesh was very blue
