Yeah, it felt like Samut went to Theros; between her spark being ignited by divinity, and the description of the stars, it really felt like Theros. I wonder if that means she'll go back there for our Return to Theros set, with Ajani and Elspeth maybe?
I enjoyed the story even though I knew the events that were coming, the description was good, and the fight certainly worthwhile. Samut immediately returning makes sense. Her entire characterization is that she will NOT abandon a worthwhile fight, and while the fight against the god was done, the whole fight was still on going. I'd be severely disappointed if she hadn't jumped back right away.
I wonder what will happen to the last two gods now. I don't think any cards showed them dieing like Puncturing Blast did, so the field's wide open, if Bolas leaves them, takes them or the Gatewatch kills them/disables them during the fight.
One little quibble I have is the giant sand storm. On the one hand, it would explain how the temples became deserts so quickly. But the actual effect of said sandstorm seemed a lot less dangerous than it should've been, and it blew through quicker than I might expect. Oh well, a fairly minor quibble ultimately.

I got the same vibe, just couldn't make sure since I felt that Samut had looked at Nyx it would have been a little more clearer.
It looks like Samut might some day help defeat Bolas and be symbolic of Amonkhet getting vengeance.

I thought Theros as well since the picture has temples and columns with the stars taking on an almost familiar pattern. Bonus for the description possibly leading back to Ajani sowing enough dissent and disbelief in the gods that they can't manifest fully.
The art used was from Ephara’s Radiance so it does appear she first walked to Theros.

Wheres our Legendary Jackal? We need the Kenra that used Rhonas's staff to knownckback The Scorpion God as a legendary card because that was awesome. I really like when a nameless character does something badass and meaningfull and when not jsut the named character make important contribution. So i guess we don't need thsic ahracter in legendary form. It was more memorable this way.
I'm really not a fan of these Ctrl-Z first planeswalks. Isn't planeswalking supposed to be something difficult, especially for first timers? Furthermore, isn't immediately leaving your first-planeswalk target kind of defeating the purpose of being a planeswalker, narratively speaking? It almost felt like having Samut be a planeswalker was a minor nuisance for the storywriter. "Sigh, she has to planeswalk soemwhere, gotta keep that real short."
Eh, whatever. Minor nitpick. I'd just think it'd make for better stories (and character development) if planeswalkers had to adjust to their first destination some time before they manage to planeswalk off.
Anyway, okay story. The flavour text snippets were odd fits in the narrative and felt a bit hamfisted. On the other hand I liked how the story actually explained why the scorpion god couldn't reanimate. I just wish the accompanying card would be Hazoret's fire spell and not the part that didn't exile the god. Oh well.
Although, we will probably never learn why the Scorpion God regenerated from death in his 2 previous deaths (the first from Rohnas and the second from Oketra) while here he died rather casually....
It probably had to do with completely destroying the body. Rhonas and Oketra could pierce his hide to hit vital spots but they could not destroy the whole body which is why he kept coming back. Hazoret had the opposite problem, where she could burn him from the inside but her fire was not strong enough to melt the skin. Lucky for her there was an obelisk nearby.
Even though I knew the second sun didnt set it didn't dawn on me until she got to Theros that the people of Amonkhet had never seen a star(suns a star blah blah I know, don't get pedantic on me). Solid story.
Great story this week! I was fairly meh on Samut, but I'm definitely warming to her. I loved the description of her first walk, and her confusion on seeing the night sky for the first time and having no idea what was happening.

Great story. I got so excited when I saw the art from Ephara's Radiance. I suspected her first walk was to Theros from the descriptions too. I was hoping to see how she might respond to the nature of the gods there. Planeswalking locations seem to be influenced to a degree by emotion. Kiora ended up on Theros seeking massive sea life, which is what Theros is all about. Now Samut arrives on a plane ruled by gods after being awakened by her own god. Theros has very different divinities from Amonkhet of course; I imagine she'd be heartbroken to see other living gods at all, let alone of meddling Greek myth inspired pantheon of Theros. Of course, it's a gorgeous place to be if and when she can care for her own on Amonkhet. I suspect the latter will influence her future walks, if any - to gather supplies or helpful magic or even allies for Amonkhet, and eventually as another enemy of Bolas staged to take him down. If there ever is a final showdown, I wouldn't mind seeing Samut make the final killing blow against him.
The planes walk was indeed rushed but I'll just chalk it up to adrenaline rush, her being so fast, and the idea that she was familiar with other worlds and "interlopers" prior to it (I like the concept of Amonkhet viewing them as trespassers for a change).
So Theros appears rather stable from our glimpse. Granted there's a few loose ends there with Ashiok, Dack, Elspeth's loss, Ajani's crusade and the theft of the Bident. But overall, looks like one of the more stable planes.
Hazoret definitely a BAMF but I was sad she got wounded. I hope she can heal and they all survive and make it. I wish Oketra had too. That said, I suspect Zeal is something they'll all need now for sure. I don't think the other two gods are capable of killing immortals like the Scorpion did. Assuming Bolas leaves them on the plane, they can be dealt with in time when the rebels attempt to re-claim Amonkhet. They may even be reverted to their original forms for all we know.
Ancient Egypt and Greece had a long history together so it's neat Amonkhet would have a planeswalker visit Theros too.
Samut arrived on Theros. Kruphix now knows what Nicol Bolas has done to Amonkhet, and to other gods. In fact, he can now confidently tell Kydele (who has asked before) that Theros is NOT the only plane with gods. Kruphix's fear was indeed justified after all...
Great story today. Im glad Hazoret and the others survived. As for Samut I think it's cool that we have a walker sparking from joy rather than trauma.
I would be beyond stoked if we get an official nod somewhere to Kruphix gaining Samut's knowledge. From previous stories we know it's something he can do but it would be cool to see his reaction.
Besides, I and the other 6 Kruphix's need to stay in the loop somehow.

Kruphix: Nope, nope, nope, nope. I'm saying "Nope" to all of that.
I wonder if, the next time we see Hazoret, she has only one arm, or has an artificial arm made of gold. Replacing body parts with gold seems like the thing Amonkheti gods would do.
Furthermore I wonder what Kruphix thinks not only of Bolas, but also of the fact that other pantheons of gods exist. Would he favour working together with them using planeswalkers as 'bridges' or would he see them as rivals?

I'm not gonna lie: Seeing the head honchos of different planes collaborate using planeswalkers as middlemen would be interesting to see.
It's more interesting in this case because IRL Ancient Egypt and Greece had history together.
That said, unless leyline shenanigans revive the dead gods and/or creates new ones, Hazoret would be the only divinity we know he'd be able to talk to in this scenario.
Ugh. It's bad enough that my opinion on the story has gotten rather low after reading spoilers from another thread, but the past two stories feel blah at best (Samut's ascension, especially. Sure, some ignitions happened because of intense emotions, but hers is too forced).... I miss Kaladesh.

Kruphix already knows Bolas exists, and doesn't think the pantheon could defeat him. I think Kruphix wouldn't be shocked at the existence of other pantheons, from the story with Kydele we know he already suspected that there might be other gods on other worlds, or beings similar to gods at least. I doubt very much that other members of the pantheon would be level-headed about it though. If Heliod was disturbed by the idea of pw I think the idea of other gods would send him into a fury. Although I could see Heliod wanting to join with other gods in an effort to exterminate pw, kind of in a "preserve the status quo" sort of way. As for Kruphix, I think as long as something doesn't directly threaten Theros in a major way he seems to have a pretty hands off live and let live approach.

I liked the story a lot, and I felt it was some nice closure to the survivors' story.
On a minor note, I didn't even notice that Djeru was kneeling next to Rhonas's head in Life Goes On. That's some neat detail there.
