He was told there was minor trouble but it was fixed. He was concerned until told it was fixed. Then he was asked to go admire the handy work and he said later when he regains himself and makes sure what he just did works. Promises were not broken.
That's not quite what happened. When Nahiri mentioned her grievances he first talked down to her, then dismissed her completely, told her her that he "had no obligation to her" when she mentioned their agreement and finally told her to bugger off. After all that he mentioned that maybe, maybe he would go to Zendikar later.

I just re-read his perspective. She tells him about the incident, he shows concern and asks about Ugin. She said he didn't come either, but she managed to fix it. Then she started to order him around which he did not take kindly to. He talks down to her because he does not liked to be ordered, then she attacks him.

I guess Sorin would indeed see being called out on his bull***** as "being ordered around", so yeah.
I hope Hal and Alena are not hinted on Fiend Binder
As Kimberly mentioned earlier, the inclusion of Hal and Alena as POV characters (and the reveal of their relationship) came after art was commissioned and most of the set and art book were complete.
Seems like they are safe for now, and they seem to have a fan base so will probably end up like the two zombie siblings in this set with cards for them in the future.

When and where did Kim mention that, btw? Just curious.
Out of curiosity, who is the black woman in white armor (vampire?) depicted in Campaign of Vengeance? I feel like I've seen that character before; maybe in some of Steve Prescott's concept art for the first Innistrad block?
Thanks!
(looking back a couple pages here, I may have missed a Sorin article on the mothership. Apologies if the woman's character was already mentioned in there...)
I believe she is the vampire with the spiral blade that gets wiped out by Nahiri rather quickly in the last story. I think that is all that is mentioned of her but am not 100% sure.
I got a question on why can't emi mutate zombies but can mutate inanimate objects like in thraben inspector
Or is it she can't mutate liliana's zombies since she is a planeswalker.
I don't know about the Thraben Inspector, but think about what we've seen in the lore. How everyone seems to develop a sort of hive mind. I'mrakul, Be'mrekul, so on and so forth. Also how Jace was affected. I think you need a mind to be affected by Emrakul. Zombies are mindless, so they're not affected. Planeswalker need to be mentally stronger to resist her.
I know someone's going to bring up Hanweir being transformed, but it melded with the garrison, so I'm guessing that's what drives the transformation.
I think the real question is: Why did Emrakul bring lamps to life?
Well, that's the problem with things that either turn everything into dust (Ulamog), turn everybody into part of themselves (Emrakul) or just plain kill everything (Kozilek).
Also, I guess not a single named character that appeared alive was killed by the end of this story, that's a new record, heheh, I totally thought that Nahiri was going to be killed by Sorin's Vindicate (Or that she was going to be killed, period) and that Emrakul was going to be toasted by Nissa-Powered-Chandra.
So, Nissa's able to channel and tap energy from leylines in ANY plane, the Silver Moon was a satellite-sized Helvault, Nahiri's now a revenge-driven evil lunatic who's most likely to go after Ugin now that she got even with Sorin, who's got the biggest lesson in humility in his whole life.
And Innistrad's going to become the new prison for Emrakul for a long time, so we can count the mutating-lattice-tentacled-meatball out of the story until the next time the plane gets revisited.
Now that the Eldrazi have been neutralized for good in their entirety, the story can focus on other antagonists: Bolas, the Phyrexians, Ob Nixilis, the Therosian gods, Ashiok, Garruk, the Chain Veil...
What? No. He just lied to Olivia in order to get her on his side. We know that he killed Avacyn because she had gone mad. He tells Avacyn as much in their final moments together. Its a tragic scene but Sorin isn't so sentimental that he'd fail to exploit it.
As one of my sentences said, the recent stories fail to hint that. Either that, or the story I Am Avacyn was such a borefest for me that I had negative interest in paying attention to the nuances, especially given that the only thing clearly stated was that Sorin made a deal with Olivia before killing Avacyn, and after that we only see Olivia being so ecstatic that Sorin fulfilled his end of the bargain by killing Avacyn. Again, I might have missed slight hints and unclear evidences, pardon me for that.
He's definitely going after Nahiri in self defense. True he started it but his fight with Nahiri isn't about finishing off the hero.
Fair point. It's just that, as I stated elsewhere, Sorin's side of the story where he sealed Nahiri was never mentioned, so readers only know Nahiri's side of the story where Sorin sealed her, and thus that put Sorin in the wrong and Sorin has no redeeming counter-argument. This is one of the main reason why I accuse Wizards of painting Sorin as a villain.
I think the point is that Sorin has finally been pushed past the breaking point, exactly like Nahiri was. He's lost everything. He killed his own daughter in hopes of saving lives all that happened was that his world was devastated. (Indeed we know from Zendikar that sealing Emrakul will almost certainly affect Innistrad even while sealed.)
Fair enough.
I mean less Black, sure, but she way more evil. Olivia is actually a little bit noble here (if you set aside the part where she's an insane serial killer). She's trying to save her people (okay probably mostly herself but also her bloodline and her food source).
I don't know if Olivia can be considered noble. Sorin used to be the only noble vampire for his long-term thinking, and we have seen that Olivia has no similar redeeming quality. I may be wrong here, because Runo Stromkirk at least knows not to let humans die wholesale, even if his intentions are basically "save the cattle!" (like what someone said I like those words). She's been described only as a party-monger and there's yet to be anything to hint that she truly cares for her people. (unless, again, I missed some minor vital information; too few recent articles give me enough incentive to immerse myself and read everything in detail) And lastly there's her double-crrossing Sorin, pretty much indicating she's selfish and ambitious. Although for the last point, given that Sorin is a pariah among the vampires, I guess it can be argued that she believes he deserves no hint of respect (I mean, if Edgar, his own grandfather, pretty much disowned him, some upstart like Olivia wouldn't be any more respectful).
In fairness to Wizards the Gatewatch also came to prominence as they made a huge transition in block structure. Kaladesh is the first block they didn't have to modify because of the switch to two sets per block, I believe. Besides SOI/EMN isn't nearly as poorly told as BFZ/OGW in my opinion. The story gets across what it needs to much more effectively.
If you say so. I guess I'm just afraid that the story in general has devolved into a Power Rangers season with villain of the block kind of thing
EDIT: Lol, it's only today I realized that I have been misspelling Runo's family name as ST-OR-MKIRK and not ST-RO-MKIRK. Damn you, German-origin names!!!
I'm not sure if you just missed it or if you mean that you think they should have mentioned it again, but we got Sorin's side of the story when it came to sealing Nahiri. We missed a little bit of the tail end just to make it a mystery where Nahiri went I guess, but they did not paint him as a villain.
Huh..... has there been an edit to the story? Or maybe I was rather inattentive... I only remembered it ended at
"The other half," Sorin replied
and not
Behind him, Sorin felt Avacyn approach, and he held up a hand to stay her spear. Then, to his former protégé, he said, "For what it's worth, I never wanted this, young one."
Fine. if it's inattentiveness I'm guilty of, ok, I'll relent on the accusations based on that. Still, with Sorin's being derailed into a hapless character, I still feel not happy, but whatever.
I wouldn't call him hapless so much as just his past catching up to him. He made decisions, some poor ones, and it bit him. If he'd done better with Nahiri it wouldn't have happened, not exactly luck-related.
What do people think about Nahiri beating Sorin? She nearly kills him, having grafted him into a wall, half crushed to death, and leaves him to his fate while Emrakul appears above the horizon.
I personally feel extremely conflicted, as I love both characters. We saw both of their perspectives, and while I've always loved Sorin as a character, I've been sympathizing with Nahiri a tad more in the story. Not that I agree with her actions against the entire plane, but she's clearly got motive for hating Sorin so intensely.
Again, I feel conflicted. I love both of them, but it's just crazy that the conflict between them has ended in what *appears* to be Sorin's death.
He's not dead. He got carbonited for when Creative wants another revenge story.
Although I guess, sooner or later, one of them will die for good. Don't see a way out of that little spiral of hate.
Surely now that they are even, or at least they will be after Sorin spends a thousand more years with his insides being put through a stone blender, they will hug it out and have a good laugh about their little spat.

No, Emrakul came from Zendikar (and no one knows where the Eldrazi originally came from possibly the Blind Eternities, the space between planes).
Poor Eldrazi, all they want is a home for themselves and they keep getting killed or sealed away.

Probably not.
