I've only been around since RTR, so I don't know any details about the Scars of Mirrodin block and have to ask: Was there any mention of Tezzeret taking precautions against Phyrexian infection when he was there? Or is it very likely he's spreading New Phyrexia already? He has artifical body parts after all...
I have a resources thread just for this! In Dark Discoveries he gets an innoculation against the Phyrexian Oil.
My bad, I'll consult it first next time. And thank you
No worries, I'm just letting you know it's available, not scolding
(I worked hard on it, and I like to make sure people know it's there)

Scary thing is, the inoculation only slows the infection. Old Tezz may be a Trojan horse. Not likely if the portal tech Rashmi made is going to be stolen for New Phirexia, but still an interesting idea.

Still, it took decades for New Phyrexia to form, and that's on a plane that was a perfect fit for Phyrexia.
And seriously people, you're slacking (Or maybe I'm just not keeping up)

One thing I don't is clear is how long Tezzeret's been a 'Walker. He looks quite old here and given the similar pose and action in what is most likely his card and Saheeli's I could see them going that route.
Student/Mentor relationship, immediately after the Nahiri/Sorin block? NOt that it's doubtful, just, I for one wouldn't want that. And I'd about flip a table if they're related.
Would be more interesting if they are rivals somehow. And perhaps it was Tezz himself who Saheeli thought of when faced with the technology Rashmi created. Hence her reluctance in allowing it to be showcased at the fair.

On the other hand, it is an inoculation from Bolas. And I can't seem to find any suggestion that the other Planeswalkers had any kind of inoculation so...
As for other topics:
Do we know if Dovin Baan's talents are only mechanical? If he can see the imperfections in anything, he might very well be an excellent tool for Nicol Bolas. Provided NB can allow himself the blow to his ego ("Seriously, Dovin, what's wrong with me?") If not, Dovin would still likely be a good tool against Phyrexians, after they've done Bolas' work for him.
I imagine Saheeli would only be a student of Tezzeret if they were both in dire straits. They just don't seem compatible, ya know?
Ajani is a cat, and has thus far only shown up on sun-baked planes. So yes. He would absolutely be attracted to Chandra's warmth. (Also, KITTY)
Liliana is definitely setting up a trap of some kind. ("Oh, I'm so sorry you went through all that mess. Tell you what, I know of a perfect little plane where we can do some of that do-gooding you love so much, and I'll even help you out." "Why should we trust you?" "You'll get to kill a demon~" "Are you crazy? Gideon would nev-" "No no. She has a point.")
@Steammage He has been a walker for at least a decade. The Seeker's Fall does not take place at the same time as Alara Unbroken. He had already taken over the consortium by then. More than likely Tezz has been a walker for about 20-30 years. Math puts him at mid-40's by Kaldesh, but that's with conservative guesstimates on certain timeframes (like how long between when he met Bolas and when he took over the consortium). If Test of Metal is still canon, which it at least partially is, he spent a long period of time getting ready to enter Crucius' pocket plane.
RE: Ajani - Also they foreshadowed this with Homesick mentioning when she sits still she attracts cats
I see Saheeli's relationship with Tezz as possibly being more along the lines of fallen hero. As head judge I can see him being an inventor of some note on Kaladesh and young inventors being enamored with his abilities. But I think perhaps Saheeli found out what was going on with him after her spark ignited and his pedestal cracks more than a little so I very much like the rivals idea.
Ajani x Chandra? Must poor Elspeth get even more headache from a competition?
Anyway...
In hindsight I find it hilarious that, for what Liliana told Baan that the Gatewatch only handles problems caused by outside forces such as planeswalkers, now she ACTUALLY finds a planeswalker being involved in the renegade mess (as in, Tezzeret hunting down Pia). I wonder what's going to happen next..... One thing for sure, given how antagonistic Tezz is against Pia, at the VERY least there's going to be an inferno launched at Tezz's face. What happens that is unclear; Even if Liliana wants to do a slight good helping Baan by rooting out Tezz, she already made herself a public enemy by telling a Consul soldier she's a renegade sympathizer, so despite her stature for her to sneak into the consulate authorities would be next to impossible, especially since Tezz knows her. Chandra at least will make it a mission to protect her mom at all cost, so she may be out of the limelight for at least an episode. And then Giddy and Nissa arrives in the hot mess....

Plus depending on how cannon Quest for Karn still is (poor Tezzeret he's been retconned worse then a Marvel character) he had captured Melira and probability got her immunity.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
I should note that every novel is still canon, but much possibly in the broad strokes sense (meaning the overall journey still happened but the details are fuzzy).
And yes, between Test of Metal and Quest for Karn, We have no idea what's up with Tezz. Creative did confirm a little while back that he still knows how to make Etherium, making Test of Metal still vaguely canon if most of it is questionable due to clock working.
Is it bad that the only thing moves me in all of these new pictures was Ajani? I cannot deny my love for the fluffy walker. :3
That said, if Amonkhet is Egyptian theme, and Egyptians are known for their love for cats, Ajani might win a spot in their heart. Hell, Ajani would surpass Bolas and rule over Amonkhet as their kitty god!
That's opposite for me, i always feel that a giant cat is out of place on any plane where there is no catfolk around.
From Lost Legacy we now know that Baral is still around and holds the title "Chief of Compliance". I guess that foils the "Baral is Tezzeret" theory, neat though it was.
Alas, I am hearbroken.
It's okay though, as long as we get a Baral Legend.

Probably not till Aether Revolt, would be my guess.
Can we say insanity? This set with the exception of the vehicles. I still say those are clunky. But reprinting tendo ice bridge that potentially can tap for a color multiple times in a game at uncommon is insanity. The legendary creatures are nuts. The non starter deck planeswalkers are insanity at its finest. Chandra is damn near broken and I see her getting the potential jace, the mind sculptor treatment. There's an abnormal amount of good to great commander cards for an expansion set. This is by far the best overall standard set in a while from what I've seen. I can't wait for aether revolt. I just hope it's not like eldritch moon where there's only a few noteworthy cards and the rest are long forgotten.
U'm, this isn't really the place to talk about cards and design. This is the story forum. There are other places where you could get a more interesting conversation about these things.

Methinks someone saw "Kaladesh General Discussion" and didn't realize it was in the Storyline section.
I hope at least that Baral is mono-White or White/Blue. Judging by the quote they're going to make him White/Black, and that upsets me.
I get that you want a mono white or Azorius villain, but there are many ways you can build a character. He could be Orzhov and it would still fit what little we know of him.
It's just that The Purifying Fire was the quintessential White villainy novel, and now that shat on that too. Plus, every White/Black character in Magic is evil, more so than even mono-Black characters.
Sorin also is definitely arguable, ignoring Nahiri. Also there are some that don't really get much characterization to judge them really.
That being said with a new White/Black guy it's arguably unlikely for Baral to be White/Black, but not exactly impossible, nor does it really hint at his colors.

What? Athreos was one of the more benign gods of Theros. Sorin is an anti-hero, maybe an anti-villain at worst. Teysa isn't evil at all, and I actually see her motives as being fairly benevolent. Kaya seems to be a straight-up hero. There are plenty of non-villainous White/Black characters, I'm not really sure where you got the idea that they're all evil.

Great, that (totally innocent) mental image can't be unseen... now I can't wait for Return to Theros with Chandra meeting Brimaz and his whole tribe
