The first thing I think of when "revolts in India" is brought up is Ghandi's protests. To describe it as a long shot would be generous, but a Magic block about a society that tries to solve its problems with grown-up words instead of a big sloppy world war would be interesting.

Lol! Am I the only one NOT excited for this plane?
My Colours are Abzan so artifice, steampunk and explosions are not really my thing but I'm excited that all of you are excited...
I'm probably mentally gonna find the deepest forest, swamp, or faraway plains I can find on Kaledesh and hunker down for a block!
Lol. I'm Jeskai, so artifice, steampunk and explosions are exactly my thing.

Saheeli Rai's name meaning "friend of the king" implies to me that she'll be pro-establishment, putting her opposite our friendly neighborhood pyromancer as a potential antagonist. Though of course a heel-face-turn is always a possibility.
Just asking, was any of the remaining Demons of Liliana's names vaguely derived from Hindi? I'm trying to find the link between Innistrad and Kaladesh since they did say they try to string the story along...
Nope, sorry. To be fair, we're probably going to get quite a bit of development on the Veil's plot in EMN.
I'd be hyped for a Tezzeret return, but I'm hoping Saheeli is a RU artifacts matter walker. Also hoping for the first 'true' RU artifact commander. Daretti will likely be returning in CN2, so I don't think we need to worry about him.
Although an all artifacts-matter walker set would be AMAZING.
Thanks for the clarification. I personally doubt we'll see Tezzeret here (unless they bring back the "Tezzeret regained interest in Crucius in particular" plotline again, but the last we saw of him before he went to the Cold Storage he was still trying to stab his way out from Bolas (likely via New Phyrexia)) and while it sounds fun, an entire "Artifact-Matters Planeswalkers" set sound horribly imbalanced for Standard (there has to be one broken, or even if they aren't combined they would most likely be anyway).
Saheeli's art does seem to imply UR Artifacts-Matter though, considering she has some sort of Etherium mold/construct in her hand.
Also, Tezzeret visiting might not be good news though, he might accidentally (or not?) do a Karn and bring some oil along with him...
I'm pretty excited about this plane being our next location. I even can boast a bit about guessing right that this was where we were heading when i discussed Magic with one of my classmates.
Although weirdly enough, I'm very odd color wise, I think UR but act RG. So the plane being red is awesome, and blue gets my brain going, but I've never been a big fan of artifacts so I hope it isn't too heavily artifact centric. Although, if there are a lot of artifacts, I'll probably end up trying to figure out the most creative way to destroy everything. EDIT: A.k.a. Temur but less reliant on blue.
How rude. Karn and Ugin aren't friends with you anymore.
they are colorless, yes, but they do not need C specifically in their costs. That is what I mean.
Until further notice, Mark Rosewater has said that C in casting costs is a Kozilek and Kozilek brood gimmick, and they do not plan to revisit the that until they find a fitting reason in their mind (story or design wise) to do so. At best, I could see a future version of Ugin having a colorless requirement.

I like two things about this. The concepts around it imagination, invention etc. And the prospect of seeing one of those tiger beast things we saw in Chandras origin story.
Well I was hoping for underwater-world but Kaladesh and the new walker look pretty awesome, and I'm definitely excited for this set. I don't think this set will tie into Eldritch Moon or follow Lili's demon hunt (although I suppose Razaketh or Belzenlok could be Kaladeshi) and I think it's more likely this will be a continuation of what Chandra does following OGW.
Prediction of the block: We will see a badly-burnt Captain Beral as either a primary or secondary antagonist of the block. Whatever the conflict proves to be I have no doubt in my mind that he will appear.
Speculation: I think he represents an interesting opportunity for WOTC as unlike the eldrazi, or Nahiri, or Bolas, he is not a vastly powerful being capable of interplanar travel. He is a planebound character somewhat resistant to Chandra's power set who has a very severe and mutual grudge with her. I think this could make him a sort of personal lower key villain for a smaller but more personal conflict, something that I think it would be very interesting to see Chandra's character deal with (or y'know, not)

The set symbols for Kaladesh and Aether Revolt are pretty gorgeous.
I will say that, probably as a result of perpetual paranoia, the set symbol for Aether Revolt to me looks like Ob Nixilis' face with Bolas' horns around him. Or a lotus.
It could be either. Could be both. Could be neither. But I'm having trouble seeing it as something else, especially with the prominent diamond shape in the center, and two slightly curved points off-shooting it, and double especially after seeing the set symbol for Nissa vs. Ob Nixilis.
Regardless, I'm excited for this place. And for possibly having Chandra star in an expansion's story for once.
It seem I am too stupid to find the set symbols of Kaladash, Aether revolt or any other of the announced products... where did you find it?
Interesting, interesting. I'm quite surprised, as I never thought that Kaladesh, as introduced in Chandra's origins story, had potential to be the scene of the main story. From what we have seen there, the artifacts aspect, it seemed to me being a bit too little to built a whole five colored world around, and how it would be different than Mirrodin 1 and 2.
Guess it has been inevidable though, considering the popularity it had in origins.
Story-wise it would be quite logical to go there now though too, as the titan theory makes a lot of sense right now. - Here's what you get Jacewatch, for not listening to Ugin.

When I have time, I'll get around to updating the OP with things like translations and set symbols.
I posted this back in origins, but Kaladesh has essentially two possible translations. Kala can mean both 'black' (the color) and 'time' (after the Hindu God of Time and Death - roughly speaking). The suffix -desh means Nation or Country. I believe Kaladesh is intended as "Country of Time" as a clockwork pun.
The main city that we know of, Ghirapur, actually has four possible interpretations. Ghira could mean encircled or beleaguered. A Ghirani is a pulley. Taken phonetically, 'Ghir' is a Gear. The suffice -pur means town or city.
Due to the theme of the plane, I prefer the Country of Time/Gear Town translation.
I wonder if we might see the return of Dwarves on Kaladesh..
Well, we are hoping Kaladesh finally has contraptions, which means the plane will need goblins. I don't think there will be enough room for two short-statured, red centered races.

That´s the story of the set! Goblins and Dwarves fighting over who should rule Kaladesh!
Looking more at the expansion symbols, I'm seeing a vague upward-arrow shape suggested in both of them, which makes total sense given the themes of invention and progress. Aether Revolt's symbol I think also is a stylized flame, also appropriate for obvious reasons. They both are gorgeous, and I hope they look at least half as good on uncommon-and-higher cards.
I hope you're all ready to assemble some contraptions, because we're gonna be assembling some contraptions.

Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
India theme is nice, but I'm not interested in the Artifact theme. If it winds up delving into the India theme a lot I'll be happy, but I'm worried it'll only be to the extent there is an Eastern European theme in Ravnica, aka not very much in terms of the focus.
