Angels? Really? On Kaladesh? I did not expect that. Your source on this, please?
But, more significantly, there don't appear to be any goblins on Kaladesh. Contraptions will need a different plane.
Worldbuilding panel. Revealed a four-armed angel, and what looked to be a flying leviathan along with the tiger dragon.
Ah. Thank you. I didn't have time to watch any of the panels. At least they are attempting to integrate the angels somewhat into the background of Kaladesh, and aren't just shoehorning them in like the elves. It's nice to know we won't be going a whole year without angels, since Amonkhet probably won't have them.
How are elves shoehorned into Kaldesh? And I don't see why we couldn't get angels on Amonkhet. Then again they would have been fine in Theros and they skipped them so who knows.
Elves are a race found primarily in western fantasy. Kaladesh is mainly eastern based, specifically, Indian. I just feel there are creature creature types in Magic that could have been a more logical fit, such as the Naga.
As for angels, they originated from Abrahamic religions. There might have been angel-like beings in Greek and Roman mythology, but they weren't actual angels. Including them in Kaladesh is still a bit of a stretch, but not as much as putting angels in a Greek or Egyptian setting would be. If I had to guess, Wizards realized they couldn't have four sets in a row without their second most popular iconic, and so they chose Kaladesh over Amonkhet.
And Gremlins aren't something that exists until WW2. I'm not sure why the origin of something matters, Vedalken, Aetherborn, and Dwarves too aren't associated with anything from the east either. The origin doesn't really matter, what matters is how well they mesh. Elves look fine here. That doesn't mean Naga wouldn't look fine here, and I do think it would be nice to see them, but that doesn't make them shoehorned. Although the space is mutually exclusive the concept isn't.
The second part is pretty much going to be the same response as the first. Why does the origin of angels matter? It doesn't make them a poor fit for Theros or Amonkhet. There aren't dragons in gothic horror, yet somehow we can manage to fit a dragon or two into Innistrad. If we start looking at the origins of things I'm sure I can find any number of issues of things where they aren't there, for Theros they even purposely did that with Leonin. Angels would have been fine. Angels can be fine for Amonkhet. Doesn't mean they need to do Angels, just like they don't need to do Dragons every set, but the concept is flexible enough. The only plane where an Angel would be an issue would be an all-male plane or something equally ridiculous.
It's probably due to the creation process. Or else their short-lifespans induce such a selfish, needy existence that the Blue is pushed away. I mean, the difference between Blue and Black is one of progress versus stagnation, so...
Basically this yea.
However it is not unreasonable to see a BR, UB, or even UBR Aetherborn. They easily bleed into Black's allied colors.
Prediction 1: The Legendary Dwarf Pilot is part of the rebels. See the "tattoo" over her eye for evidence.
Prediction 2: Dovin is a pawn, though a good one. More of a bishop, maybe, in that he follows a very strict path, but isn't a villain.
Prediction 3: Wizards got a whole lot better about Story Spotlights. We've only seen one so far, so I hope that we get another each Wednesday leading up to the release.

Considering the full spoiler goes up the 17th, I think we'll be getting more than one story a week, my friend.

And I could hope they make a trend of Monday and Wednesday story as last week had, but that may be asking too much. More reasonably I hope they spoil them in order.
Either Daretti has never discovered Kaladesh (in that case someone better get him over there now to save his poor soul and identity crisis), or he still got the short end of the stick when he visited there (which probably caused him to give up all hope if what would considered haven to him rejected him as well). In fact the whole exiled group of academics from Fiora would probably find Kaladesh a haven of sorts.
I almost feel like the artifact theme was dropped (exiled story-wise) from Conspiracy 2 so as to not clash with Kaladesh.
The local`s reaction to Daretti would be interesting to say the least considering there are no goblins on the plane and his artifacts are based on clockwork rather than aether. Now I`m kinda bummed we got him in CN2 rather than here. But then again he`s now pals with Grenzo and they are such a fun pair

Actually the main reason was to make the draft-matters cards coloured, so they are passed around in draft more often. If you look at Conspiracy 1, all of the draft cards were either conspiracies or artifacts. Now we mainly get colour-locked conspiracies, non-artifact permanents, spells, etc. That it doesn't clash with Kaladesh is more or less a happy coincidence.
I feel the need to spread some positivity. I've been dealing with way too much unfortunate negativity from people over this set already.
One of the things I love about this set is that it feels like Wizards is finally giving us the "non angry Red" set. We've been begging to see other sides to red for a long time and this world's culture feels SO red aligned but not all that violent. It feels so fresh to see that. Also, red's getting to show off its creativity, its live fast, die young but smiling attitude and I love it even if red isn't even close to my favorite color in the game. I can really see my girlfriend being from this world if she were a walker for example.

Black/Red foremost, since their ephemeral, hedonistic nature should push them towards Red.
What's the cycle of Aether? From what I can tell it's tied to the colors of Magic, but that's about it. I'm guessing it came up during one of the panels, but not sure which one.

Inspire G, Innovate U, Build W, Reclaim B and err Liberate R (Was Synthesize at an earlier stage of development).
Kaladeshi artifice draws inspiration from nature which is in turn influenced on a planar scale by Aether. Blue takes that inspiration and iterates and develops upon it. White is basically the mass production aspect. Black reclaims Aether into the ecosystem (as death recycles organic material into the environment). Red... I don't really recall red's role exactly... sorry Red mages.

I don't see the new red as much, but as someone with a lot of red in them I kind of mesh with that side of it already, so it doesn't feel as new. But I'm glad in general for Kaladesh, it feels like a really fun set so far. Only issue I have is not a major Artifact person, but loving what they're doing. It really is a nice change of pace from everything. Innistrad was too bleak.
Maybe this has been mentioned before, but I haven't seen it: GREMLINS. The couple of cards spoiled show weird anatomy, multiple limbs, pink bodies and purple extremities… Surely they're not tied into Eldrazi, right? But why give them the single color scheme that's *exactly* Eldrazi?

Get LEVIATHAN, a novel of half-angel giants fighting prehistoric monsters in the world before the Flood, here, or get the Kindle edition here.
Tezzeret is back in today's story. Is it a surprise or did I (as usual) miss the announcement?
EDIT: And Chandra's mom still lives.
Nope this was new. At pax they covered the bottom part of a card, Larger Then Life with something like "to see the rest of the card on monday" and it revealed in flavor text that Tezzeret is the head judge. Looks like we got our Bolas connection.

Well this is pretty awesome. I hope the story on how Tez dug his way as Head Judge of the fair (which is supposed to be a supreme function) will live up the hype they created by revealing him.
Also thinking it would be the best plane for Jhoira to show up, but this is probably daydreaming.

I'm really curious about how he pulled that off, because it sounds very contrived...for someone to literally show up out of nowhere and get that title is...interesting.
Liliana grabbed the man and spun him around to her. She uttered a name that Chandra didn't recognize, with a disgust she didn't understand:
"Tezzeret."
I loved that line. Can't wait to see what happens next.
The story was ok, but there's a lot of coincidences tugging at my suspension of disbelief here.
Also please don't complaet this wonderful plane Finally a plane again that looks nice and optimistic...even their gremlins are the cutest things ever. Ah well...
