I'm most excited about Aether Revolt not using the Æ ligature.
In all seriousness, this looks to be a great set for me. Artifacts (as Kaladesh demands), Chandra focused (since it's her homeworld), political intrigue (I mean, the second setting has the word revolt in the name!), a cool new 'walker (here's hoping Saheeli Rai's card is artifact-focused, and given her art shows her manipulating metal that's a safe bet)...if we can get a UR artifact-focused legendary creature for EDH, Kaladesh may dethrone Innistrad as my favorite setting.
I wonder what other 'walkers will show up here. Chandra's obvious, and Saheeli is our new 'walker. Given their history, I wouldn't be shocked to see Gideon tag along to support Chandra, although I'd prefer to see Nissa in the "other Gatewatch Member" slot (because the contrast of her nature-affinity with Kaladesh's prominent artiface would be a fun juxtaposition, plus I like the Chandra-Nissa dynamic we saw at the end of OGW).
I wonder why we are going to Kaladesh. In Zendikar we got a hint about Innistrad with Ugin telling Jace to find Sorin.
I assume Chandra will be in this block, so What compels her to return to her home plane?
Piggybacking off of this, did anyone else assume we'd be getting a Liliana block next? It seemed, to me at least, that a good springboard to the next block would have been Liliana's involvement in Eldritch Moon. She gains allies and redoubles her efforts to free herself of her demon lords. Not that I'm opposed to Kaladesh, but it just seems so randomly timed.

Vorthos-player with way too much time on his hands and a love of thematic decks.
EDH - Yes, Each One is Named After a Song. I love tying music to my decks.
We just may be changing perspectives of Gatewatch members. This could also be a different sequel to Oath of a Gatewatch rather than a sequel to Eldritch Moon. I don't see the connection yet (then again, we all of Eldritch Moon to go), but not all stories start where its predecessor left off… even in the comic book style Wizards is currently going for.

Okay, full disclosure time people. I'm married to an Indian woman, and I speak some hindi. I'm SUPER pumped about this set.
FYI - Saheeli Rai means "Friend of the King".
Just asking, was any of the remaining Demons of Liliana's names vaguely derived from Hindi? I'm trying to find the link between Innistrad and Kaladesh since they did say they try to string the story along...
I don't think we'll be seeing much of Sorin and Nahiri past SOI block and I'm pretty sure that Jace (and probably Tamiyo) are too exhausted to continue going anywhere and would probably just return to Ravnica/Kamigawa respectively. That leaves pretty much either Liliana and Arlinn and since Liliana is the only one we have information about and some motivation to travel to other planes...
We only saw the UR aspect of Kaladesh from Origins and I'm inclined to believe that it would be still be a relatively balanced plane in terms of colors, so there's still a lot about the plane we don't actually know. So maybe the RG faction are full of metal-clawed wolves and Arlinn enjoys spending time there...
Saheeli Rai's name meaning reminds me of Sarkhan Vol, considering their names have links to positions of power.
Am i the only one who wish to see Tezzeret long-awaited return?
Everyone keeps drooling about an "artifact-related planeswalker" but forgets whe had already two of them (granted, it's the same person^^)
Well, there's also Daretti.
Tezzeret makes sense just because they seem to like to hit a certain quota of existing walkers, and Chandra, someone tagging along with Chandra, and Tezzeret would get them to three existing walkers with room for two new ones.
I think it's a pretty good theory. Seems like the things in the back are some kind of aether condenser, and with the second block being called aether revolt, maybe we'll be seeing the effect of killing the Eldrazi sooner rather than later.
Just asking, was any of the remaining Demons of Liliana's names vaguely derived from Hindi? I'm trying to find the link between Innistrad and Kaladesh since they did say they try to string the story along...
Nope, sorry. To be fair, we're probably going to get quite a bit of development on the Veil's plot in EMN.
I'd be hyped for a Tezzeret return, but I'm hoping Saheeli is a RU artifacts matter walker. Also hoping for the first 'true' RU artifact commander. Daretti will likely be returning in CN2, so I don't think we need to worry about him.
Although an all artifacts-matter walker set would be AMAZING.

Hopefully the plane gets a good splattering of oil in its future.
I'm also pretty excited about the new Planeswalker packs Maro announced today. They will come with splashy, over the top walkers, with several support cards using art featuring the deck's walkers. Being an art fan, this just sounds delicious.
I suspected that the next "new" plane would be either Kaladesh or Vyrn. After we found out that Jace would be taking point on return to Innistrad, I started hoping they would go with Kaladesh. I'm glad they didn't let me down. I'd still love to visit Vyrn, but only after some of the other Gatewatch have had a turn.

I've been so excited for Kaladesh, I haven't even started Maro's article yet. Reading it now.
SO EXCITED OMGOSH. I'm still excited about SOI, EMN, and Conspiracy, so this just tops the cake for me.
I have a suspicion that Chandra's reason for going back will have something to do with her finding out that her mother is still alive. It's been pretty clear by how they have gone out of their way to NOT say that Pia died that she's still alive and would be a plot point for the future. I cannot WAIT to explore the rest of Kaladesh and see what this cool plane has to offer.
I'm not surprised at all that we're visiting one of the Origins planes now, but I am beside myself with delight that it is Kaladesh! There is so much potential here and I am thrilled to see it realized. The fact that MaRo considers the set to be one of his favorite designs thus far gives me even higher hopes.
Story-wise, I am very interested in finding out what would make Chandra want to return home. My impression had been that she had burned all her ties (haha) with the plane, with her parents dead or presumed dead (AKA obviously still alive) and a status quo that makes her vehemently unwelcome. Maybe she's been keeping tabs after all? Chandra's always been sentimental, underneath all the temper.
The set symbols for Kaladesh and Aether Revolt are pretty gorgeous.
I will say that, probably as a result of perpetual paranoia, the set symbol for Aether Revolt to me looks like Ob Nixilis' face with Bolas' horns around him. Or a lotus.
It could be either. Could be both. Could be neither. But I'm having trouble seeing it as something else, especially with the prominent diamond shape in the center, and two slightly curved points off-shooting it, and double especially after seeing the set symbol for Nissa vs. Ob Nixilis.
Regardless, I'm excited for this place. And for possibly having Chandra star in an expansion's story for once.

Just a blurb from the art book:
"Welcome to Kaladesh – a vibrant, beautiful plane where anything is possible. Join the heroic Planeswalkers of the Gatewatch as they explore the Inventors’ Fair, and let your imagination soar alongside thopters and airships crafted by the best artificers in the Multiverse. Come discover the marvels of Kaladesh – its inhabitants, its inventors, and its artifacts. They all await you at the grand Inventors' Fair!"
I wonder what other Gatewatchers will be on Kaladesh... Perhaps new members?
Maybe Lili needs Chandra's (& Kaladesh) help with the Chain Veil

I wonder if that trend will continue: all three planes since Origins will have been planes that appeared in Origins: Zendikar, Innistrad, Kaladesh. Doesn't mean anything inherently, but since the story's supposedly meant to focus on the Origins walkers for the near future, maybe it's an indication of where the game is headed in the short term.
As for why she's heading back, it might be as simple as Nissa's connection to her home plane (and the conversation the two of them had about their responsibilities, which was the last time either appeared in the story) reminding of her own home and making her want to check in on it again. Or maybe Nissa (or Gideon) ends up pushing her more actively to take that trip, who knows.

The Inventors' Fair intrigues me - I would guess that's the hook for the start of the actual plot on the plane, and it evokes fun images of the World's Fair and such. Lots of cool visual stuff that could come out of that, and maybe some quirky cards from the more outlandish inventions. Should be fun.
...but yeah, super happy we're heading to Kaladesh for a proper block, and looking forward to finally getting a Chandra-centric block story (hopefully).

I understand your excitement! An Indian flavoured set could be great, and Kaladesh seems to me a really fresh world to explore!
Apart from your twitter account, do you have a "guide to Indian Magic" ora are you planning to write one for us interested in the forum? It would be great!
