Wonder if Tamiyo sent Jenrik there, or if he went there on own agenda.
Tamiyo sent him there, as per the flavor text on the Markov Ruins clue token.

- As for Jenrik, the user, I see the glass as half-full: not only now he definitely has a profile picture to use (albeit the character looks a little dead), he can also change his location from the Moonsilver Tower in Nephalia to "encased in Markov Manor, Stensia".
I shall leave this here for Jenrik.

I don't mean to be rude but Jenrik (user) does seem to gravitate towards very niche characters. The fact he hasn't responded yet to the story makes me think he's curled up in a dark corner somewhere...

I hope we still get a story about the manor from Nahiris perspective, I really want to read about her going all out
What I'm still wondering, is the mind magic Jace is influenced by Edgars doing (really hoping he isn't off paneled), the madness on Innistrad or, if I remember correctly Markov vampires have a talent for psychic magic, so maybe all the dying bodies there are influencing him.

Well, as somebody said, he has at least an image to use with his name now...
What I find surprising is the unexpected order of events. From thet flavortexts of Pore Over the Pages and Markov Manor clue token, I automatically concluded that by the "fate of Markov Manor", Tamiyo meant the destruction, and on the clue token she reminds herself to send Jenrik to investigate. I have never expected that she meant to send Jenrik to the Markov Manor when BEFORE anything happened there, when it was full of Markov vampires, and most probably very much not a safe place for any man to be at all.
On the other hand, all of the soratami we met in Kamigawa were cold, calculating bastards. I would very much like to believe that Tamiyo actually cared about Jenrik and had very compelling reason to send him to what was almost an one-way trip.

I think the Manor itself just has a kind of residual build-up of psychic effect from the millenia of use by Edgar and his brood. And probably some built-in effects they used to unsettle unprepared visitors. I didn't read this and think Jace was being affected by whatever madness is afflicting Innistrad right now; I thought that was just what Markov Manor probably is/was/had always been like

What if Tamiyo is both? She could be caring in her own way, but could be relatively aloof to other's emotions. Like, a very studious nerd?
That is what she is hinted to be at the moment. On the other hand, we did not have much opportunity to learn about her character, but as she has not been a high-positioned soratami (just a field scholar), and the planeswalking experience surely changed her worldview a bit, maybe she will be more like a female Sheldon Cooper.

True, but why then were Jenrik's thoughts not drowned out by centuries of vampiric thoughts?

Could be. But I stand by the idea that the madness affecting plane caused the memories (and Jace's sensitivity to them) to be amplified.
On the other hand, all of the soratami we met in Kamigawa were cold, calculating bastards. I would very much like to believe that Tamiyo actually cared about Jenrik and had very compelling reason to send him to what was almost an one-way trip.
Its also possible that, following standard genius cliches, Tamiyo didn't stop to consider that going to Markov Manor might be dangerous for Jenrik. After all Jace went to the manor after being explicitly told he'd be killed if he did. Planeswalkers are rarely in danger they cannot escape from so recklessness is to be expected.
I wasn't a huge fan of this. It felt disjointed and hard to follow at points, kind of like the movie Eternal Sunshine on a Spotless Mind (or whatever it's called, I didn't care much for it either). I don't want to be spoon fed, but perspective and scenery changes this jaring don't pull me in because I spend time rereading and analyzing to make sure I'm following along.
There were a few things I was trying to fit into context when I first read it...
The first was how nahiri managed to kill pretty much everyone while still maintaining structural integrity of several rooms throughout the manor. She obviously did y ball the manor up like a piece of paper. Like did living creatures just get sucked into the walls or were they forcefully put there? I mean the vampires look anguished/upset but none of them seem surprised in the art to me. (Like oh crap I'm stuck in the wall!) I feel like she just waltzed through the door and stone rolled wave after wave of very upset vampires before the rest just abandoned ship because it was obviously a lost cause...at which point she remodels the place with persona touches here and there.
Second point was the enormous amount of mana and concentration it would take to do something like this. I mean yeah nissa can probably summon a few elementals if need be, giddeon can fight multiple enemies, Jace can make multiple illusions, and even lilli can control multiple zombies at once...but have we ever seen them express this much control and power in a single setting? Ya ya old walker vs new walker aside, a small town actively working towards not dying seems like it would complicate the spells(s) she would have used to destroy the manor. Maybe nahiri averted the ley lines and used the planes mana to amplify her powers?
I think one of the reasons Jace was in tune with Jenrik's lingering thoughts is because Jenrik was blue aligned. Also he's not an age old vampire, he's human, and that's a mind/thought structure Jace should be more familiar with given his background. There's also a sorin quote (from one of his duel deck cards I think) about innistrad perfectly preserving all of your failures. Maybe incorporeal things hang around on the plane for quite awhile?
I still think Edgar is alive, surely creative wouldn't squander an opportunity like that...I hope...I really hope.
What do you think the chances of Jenrik going to the manor after it was destroyed and a residual spell is what caused the stone fusion. Makes Tamiyo seem less U/B to me. I mean I agree the moonfolk are aloof...but sending a living breathing creature you refer by name to pretty much a death sentence?
The fact that she sent him with all her notes also seems sketchy. I'm thinking Tamiyo is probably incapacitated elsewhere and Jace will probably find her in a few weeks. Locked up by estranged townsfolk because surely she doesn't look natural. Jenrik was continuing her work because they realized the plane was in a dire situation, if not him then who else? He rose to the occasion and died in search of answers because he believed in the research.
Leads me to my next point, what if the cryptoliths prevent planes walking away from the plane. So not only can Tamiyo not escape, but sorin wouldn't be able to run from the fate of his plane (it's so dastardly, so moustache twirlingly evil...). Also would be a good plot hook for why lilli has to get involved next set. Pretty much save the plane or become subject to its fate.
Who said that we won't be getting Edgar as a card?
I think that you can relax. Edgar is a huge figure on Innistrad, the ancestor of all vampires, and as such I doubt that they will really
kill such a huge character off panel. It just feel so...weird. So much wasted potential :/ but then I remember BFZ so rip Edgar, you never
got to shine
At least it answers my question ''why is Sorin calling the bloodline in Call the Bloodline and not Edgar''

I mean.... is he really that huge of a figure? He's an important part of Innistrad's past, but to me it's kind of like saying Withengar or even really Saint Traft are "huge figures". They're important characters in the back story of Innistrad, but they've never really been a focus... More like pieces of the background to paint the image of Innistrad. Not saying he won't get a card, in fact I suppose if Saint Traft and Withengar could so coudl he, I just don't feel he's so drastically important that it'd be weird if they killed him off-screen. I'm surprised they even showed us how Jenrik looked before offscreening him.

They didn't care that he was the savior of Fort Keff, the great hunter of Ondu, the champion of Kabira. To them, he was just another piece of flesh, a thing with life to be drained away.
This is Innistrad. Jenrik could still get a card as a giest. Or at least Jenrik can continue to hope. As others have said, the transition was awkward but overall it was a good story.
Well, the is the ancestor of all vampires on Innistrad and also a huge figure in Sorin's life.
I would imagine that the ancestor of all vampires would be a huge enough figure to not get off screened.
Lesser characters than him didn't get off screened.
I mean... I guess my point is it wouldn't have any great impact on the story as far as the information we are aware of if he were not alive anymore. He serves to give us the back story for how vampires came to be on Innistrad and give us perspective on Sorin's past, but he's not exactly been an ever present and influential part of the story, we mostly just know that he is a character that exists. Honestly, even Saint Traft feels more important to the story than Edgar does as of SOI. Lesser characters than him haven't gotten off screened, but more important characters haven't gotten cards either.

Re: Jace. I didn't particularly mean to imply Jace *wasn't* being affected by the Great Innistrad Madness Epidemic of 719 (or whatever year we're in in the Avacynian calendar) - just that it never occurred to me, so I put his mental struggles in this UR down to 'Markov Manor is a psychicly freaky place'.
I think Jenrik's thoughts stood out because he was the last mortal human in the place before Jace arrived. And I like what people have proposed that Jenrik's mind and emotions would sit more easily in Jace's head because of their similarities too rather than the alien thoughts of countless vampires.
The oddest event to flash into his head is the Marycz ritual. Now *that* felt like it was there purely for expository reasons.
Re: Edgar. This is the bit that makes me think Edgar bought it.
I step back and suddenly there are hands all around me, clutching at me. I scream and struggle against the vampires' grasp, but they are too strong. I can feel their hunger in their hot breath, but they wait—and their sire approaches. This must be the one, Edgar Markov, the ancestor of all Innistrad's vampires...
I read that as us being back in Jenrik's mind as the vampires are about to attack him, but they restrain themselves because Edgar gets first dibs, and there he is now... and then Nahirigeddon happened.
Also, I hadn't made that connection, but the observation that it's Sorin who sounds the appeal, not Edgar, is strong evidence that Edgar didn't survive too.
This is Innistrad. Jenrik could still get a card as a giest. Or at least Jenrik can continue to hope. As others have said, the transition was awkward but overall it was a good story.
This is very cool. I would love a geist Jenrik. On the other hand, Jenrik, the Astronomer, is now relegated to the Hopefully in Commander list.
Speaking of good ol' Eddie, I was able to get a hold of the high-res version of Foreboding Ruins. (view vull version here) I zoomed in, and located the statue of Edgar. It's a bit grainy, but it gives us some idea of what he looks like.
