I would argue that Innistrad without the people, Werewolves, Vampires, demons, zombies and geists is hardly Innistrad at all. Doomed as in planar collapse? Not at all. Doomed because the elements that make Innistrad inherently unique would be lost? Most definitely.
It would just revert to a primordial wilderness, ruled by ancient hydras and dragons and things not in the ice. While I'm sure there are a fair number of characters who might prefer this, (Garruk springs to mind) I wouldn't really call it a unique plane anymore.

But thats our perspective, not Tamiyo's. For her, even if this uniqueness ends, it will at least still live on through her scrolls, like every other recording of things already lost(like Serra's realm, which was probably also unique, and I think Tamiyo also would not have chosen to save it if she had the chance).
Now that everyone's mostly read the article... And it's been a while since her name has come up... Anyone else think the ice story referenced Marit Lage? Something about "The truest cold had risen from the Sea."

Thats our perspective and most everyone outside of either a true-to-definition naturalist and/or an extremely detached indiviudal. I'm not arguing you are wrong that Tamiyo probably wouldn't have been directly opposed to that, but I will argue, going back to my original point, that such an outcome would result from leaving Avacyn unchecked. And for myself that loves the horror elements of Innistrad that set it apart from every other plain (Ulgrotha aside), as well as I feel many others in this community, losing its non-angelic population would be devastating. That would be a doomsday scenario.
Ravnica with no people in the cities is just a plane of ruins. Mirrodin with no artifacts or metal-clad citizenry would be just a giant metal sphere (not counting Phyrexia taking over). To argue that a plane losing its uniqueness and populace would not be "doomed" is quite a stretch, especially to even the staunchest green mage. Survival of the fittest is fine, but nature doesn't kill for sport often, and Avacyn isn't killing to preserve some sense of balance. My angel is full-on genociding everyone. True, at different points she has different targets, but everyone not with her angels, even Sigarda, is on her list.
And therein lies why I, and I am probably nearly alone here, dislike Tamiyo. I love her unique abilities and background, but the utter arrogance - and I use this word with reservation but with I believe a fair assessment - to posses the ability to save millions and to choose NOT to act is bewildering. I skew very much Boros in my personal alignment, I'll admit. But truth with no audience is just a silent echo. She can record history all she wants, but letting an entire world fall to an act ofor genocide out of some self-righteous sense of preservation of "truth" is, to me, pure arrogance. You don't have to save Jace. You don't have to fight every battle. But to just watch a world die in order to understand it is no great feat or moment of truth.
And I apologize for tangenting there on you, friend, but there's a difference in my eyes between recording history of a lost plane once it's lost and actively watching that plane be lost when you had the power to save it. Tamiyo didn't have to even use any of her forbidden scrolls, but she could have at a minimum attempted to heal Avacyn's mind as she did Jace's. She chose not to. And true: I don't know her oaths any more than anyone else, but I do not agree with her perspective at all.

You're making it sound like Tamiyo is actively ignoring the planes problems. She explicitly said that she wasn't interfering because Avacyn was such a unique existence, a planebound creature interacting with the blind eternities in a unique way and that to interfere could result in horrific unforeseen consequences. This is similar to Ugin's not killing the Eldrazi, except that it seems Tamiyo wouldn't even want to imprison them until she 'KNEW' that it wouldn't have horrible consequences.
She is not saying "I could save them but I choose not to." she is saying "In theory I could save these people, but in doing so I may doom countless others so I'm not certain it is the right thing so I won't do it." She even shows a level of concern for others with her casual threat to Jace. She then willingly helps Jace in his efforts and readily jumps to intervene with a plan that didn't involve just killing Avacyn because 'curing' her, which was beyond Tamiyo's abilities, wouldn't disrupt the balance the way killing her would.
And therein lies why I, and I am probably nearly alone here, dislike Tamiyo. I love her unique abilities and background, but the utter arrogance - and I use this word with reservation but with I believe a fair assessment - to posses the ability to save millions and to choose NOT to act is bewildering. She is not watching a world die, because it will not. It would be dead to us, the people who care about the Magic's version of victorian horror, even though life on Innistrad is actually pretty miserable, but to Tamiyo this "doom" only means the end of another chapter of the plane's history, just like Avacyn's criation was the end of chapter before.
I'm not saying I like Tamiyo's attitude, but it sounds like you are judging her as if she should take into account the value of the plane's victorian horror aspect before choosing to not act, but this aspect is only valuable to us.
And I apologize for tangenting there on you, friend, but there's a difference in my eyes between recording history of a lost plane once it's lost and actively watching that plane be lost when you had the power to save it. Tamiyo not taking a more active approach on curing Avacyn is a bit of a conundrum. It's not a plot hole though because she and Jace made a plan that she'd distract her while Jace tried the mental work. However, why she didn't try to cure her madness the way she cured Jace's is a bit confusing (I guess she assumed it wouldn't work, but still weak reasoning at best).
However, about the arrogant remark. I agree *asteriks* That actually speaks to Nik's talent because even though Tamiyo isn't particularly likable, she's relatable. Mastering the difference is an important aspect of writing. To me, her mind set reminds me of Star Trek Vulcans, which is also generally polarizing in the same way.

I understand Tamiyo's view on truth and allowing events to unfold; I just disagree with it. I'm sorry if any of this came off as confrontational earlier. It just.....frustrates me to get attached to certain characters and then see Creative deliberately choose to end their stories, while showing that there were avenues available in story to keep them around.

See those are the things I love about her in this story. We have a Heroic Blue Planeswalker with Jace, having one that goes to the..not exactly evil side of blue but the pitfalls that blue can fall into if not kept in check, detachment and the like is very nice. To be fair, Tamiyo outright stated that Avacyn is holding something outside of the plane. She believes the plane is doomed because it's going to fall to either Avacyn or the thing that wants to enter.

If one of them is the story of a Plane Collapsing, I think she could have very good reason to fear using them.
To the Serra's realm story: I suspect it deals more with destroying angels than anything as far as Jace is concerned; "unsummoning" perhaps, which is similar enough to the "unmaking" Sorin will undertake.
I would find it interesting if one of the iron-bound scrolls was Bolas's cataclysmic battle with the Leviathan Planeswalker. This would be a nice link to post-Mending but also our current cast of characters.
I enjoy seeing the variety in spellcasting. I suspect the spells Tamiyo cast are inspired by stories, but I don't think Jace would be able to cast them just by reading her scrolls--or has she "enchanted" each story? I suspect this is just the way her personal spellcasting works. I bowed out for the Kamigawa block: how do the soratami normally cast spells?

We didn't see a whole lot of Soratami casting in the Kamigawa books if I recall properly. However one of the two main characters of the Block used some very specific magic called Kanji Magic, and it worked by writing a Kanji and channeling Mana into the symbol to invoke the word that the symbol represented.
Example - Early in book 1, Toshiro was ambushed in his home, but he had set up the planks of his roof to make the Kanji for "Stop" and before he got stabbed, he invoked the Spell and froze his attackers.
I am thinking that Tamiyo uses something similar though probably more advanced (since Kamigawa took place a very long time ago in the timeline)
Doug Beyer actually learned to deliver a readable story
The first person viewpoint was also a nice touch.
I am just a "little bit" disappointed we did not get more backstory/worldbuilding stories, not learned more about the angels corruption, or the vampire crusade...no Bruna, no Gisela, no Sigarda, etc.
Wonder what the next two weeks will bring (and who), before we start with EMN.
The part where she breaks the fourth wall was really beautiful. And I love the subtext that Doug gave Sorin (total BA btw since he took out so many angels) to show his unhappiness at unmaking Avacyn. Just reading the story I felt like I lose 3 life. The series of images afterwards was very touching as well.

I'm surprised at how many people don't like Legends or their stories.
I think we got a fair balance between the two kinds of stories, and even the plot-centric ones did a good job of world-building. It remains to be seen how critical some of the side stories, like Arlinn Kord's, the Gitrog Toad (Not likely), and Odric/Thalia's will be.
This personal battle felt more intense than the fight with the Titans. I liked the way Avacyn's POV was presented and shifted through the story. I found myself rooting for her a lot, though the outcome was already known. And her last moments were well done.
Now I'd like to see Sorin deal with the consequences and actually have him feel emotions over Avacyn's accusations and his actions.

Man, really felt sorry for Avacyn. Especially when she had her moment of clarity and realized what she's done to the people of Innistrad.
I wonder if Tamiyo will hightail it out of Innistrad now that its doom is apparently imminent. Additionally, that's one powerful story for her to document!
It would just revert to a primordial wilderness, ruled by ancient hydras and dragons and things not in the ice. While I'm sure there are a fair number of characters who might prefer this, (Garruk springs to mind) I wouldn't really call it a unique plane anymore.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
This line was the real tear-jerker.
Damn. That was intense. Goodbye Avacyn, we'll miss you.
"You say 'learn from history,' but that does not mean 'learn the same bull***** the people in history learned alongside phrenology and alchemy.'" - The Blinking Spirit
I think we got a fair balance between the two kinds of stories, and even the plot-centric ones did a good job of world-building. It remains to be seen how critical some of the side stories, like Arlinn Kord's, the Gitrog Toad (Not likely), and Odric/Thalia's will be.

Now I'd like to see Sorin deal with the consequences and actually have him feel emotions over Avacyn's accusations and his actions.
Definitely. All the SoI stories were good. I just would wish there were more
Still hoping for Arlinn actually having a role to play in EMN.

I wonder if Tamiyo will hightail it out of Innistrad now that its doom is apparently imminent. Additionally, that's one powerful story for her to document!
