Huh. Adriana's speech was actually really good. She has me on her side.
Is anyone else psyched for the fact that the leaders of both factions are women?

I hope they go as far as they did with the number imprinted on the back of the random Magister of Worth that appeared during that prerelease. We have Eldritch Moon before Conspiracy this summer, so it'll be interesting to see how far Wizards plays it up this time
I don't think we're going down that cryptological rabbit hole again.

I'm more excited that they both seem like interesting characters. I imagine the sides will line up like this:
Adriana/Selvala - Revolutionaries
Marchesa/Grenzo/Sydri (by technicality) - Usurpers
Muzzio/Dack/Daretti - Neutral, if appearing at all
Indeed. I'm curious to know where Adriana actually stands. Is she a legitimate good guy (good girl? Good woman?) like Selvala, or does she have a hidden agenda, like everyone else in the city?

"Good" is fluid. She was the supporter of an eternal dictator, after all, lol.
Adriana's speech got me more interested than Marchessa's for sure. I'm curious what the story is going to be like. I like the latest "pick a side" kind of thing they've been doing.
Not a bad story. I was able to guess the plot within a few paragraphs of her interaction with the nobleman though. Kaya seems to be an interesting enough planeswalker. I would guess she isWB or maybe WBG? This story was a nice introduction to her personal philosophy and motivations. High points were the times she had an inner dialogue and the battle with Dear Mother. Low points included any and all interactions with the noble. They were so predictable and could be part of an story where a highborn and apparent commoner have a conversation. I look forward to finding out more about her as we get closer to Conspiracy 2. B for today's story.
She seems really interesting. I like her roguish qualities, despite obviously falling more in the WB spectrum (but we'll have to wait to be sure).
That is what I am thinking. She is an assassin and doesn't mind "killing" but her having the nobel face his mother defiant had a white streak. Plus WB is the colors of spirits and she seems to be our spirit walker in the same way Liliana is the zombie walker or Serra was the angel walker.

I don't see the green. A green character would believe what their doing is natural and be conflicted if someone told them spirits where a natural part of the Kaya. Kaya just made her philosophy that ghosts hauntings won't fix their problems and it was better for them to just move on.
Also we know wizards like adding colors to their characters that match their identity and it keeps saying Kaya magic is purple and white colors and we all know that purple is now in blacks clothing fashion pie.

I like this PW!
I agree that she's probably BW, my favorite two colour Combo.
While she has an obvious role in Paliano as Brago's "murderer" I think it's safe to say that she may be an important character in a third Ravnica block as well.
After all, we have an entire Ghost Council on Ravnica I would not mind being Ghostbusted. She and Teysa can be BFF!

We agree on WB for her colors, which I believe is most likely. I started to believe there might be a small amount of G after reading the following(bold added for emphasis):
"What Kaya did was seen as blasphemous by some, a disruption of the natural order of life beyond death. But in other belief systems it was the ghosts themselves who were disrupting the natural order, and Kaya who was setting things right. She'd been showered with blessings some places and run out of town in others, all for doing the same thing. Whatever the ultimate destiny of the dead on any given world, it was Kaya's personal conviction that they weren't fulfilling it by hanging around being a nuisance to the living."
You present some strong evidence for her to be WB only, including visual cues from her art. I do not take issue with your evidence. I also believe it may be a little too soon to get our next 3 color walker from Wizard's standpoint. There are some who won't agree that the quoted text above reflects a G philosophy. I, however, see it as a strong piece of G's credo. I am open to the possibility that it is just incidental and some philosophy bleeding across colors. I won't complain a single bit if she is WB when her card is spoiled.
I'll be glad if she is a new WB walker, though a bit bummed if she ends up costing as much as Dack did. I like the duality of 'Ghost Assassin' too - assassin of ghosts, and an assassin who (kinda) is a ghost (some of the time, when she wants to be). Neat. Funnily enough, I wondered if she might be Esper if she was going to turn out to be three-colour. She seems pretty calculating and interested in learning what she can about the places she works in, and UB is more traditionally the colour of rogues, but at this point I'd assume she's just two-colour.
Only thing that strikes me as slightly off is the modern style and placement of the piercings, but eh, I'll live.
At any rate, neat story. At first I thought I'm not going to enjoy it, (not a huge fan of the theme and setting) but I did.
A thing that is a little weird is that in a place where vengeful spirits continue living after death, people still murder even their own family. You'd expect people wouldn't do that (this often) if there are unavoidable consequences of doing so. But I guess it's a very tall order for a story/setting like Magic to explore the ramifications of how Magic would affect human behaviour and society.

White is all about planning and having a structured approach, so it's fine if she's just WB.
I liked the story. I could definitely see her getting a third color, but hard to tell what. Wonder what her home plane is like too. If she pops up again I hope we get hints at it, feels like it'll likely be a hook for a future plane.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Kaya show up in our next trip to Ravnica. I'd even suspect that she's a native Ravnican, being noble-born with ghost-abilities, but she also said her mother taught her to be respectful, which doesn't sound likely among Orzhov nobility. But her being hired to take out the Obzedat is an excellent development from where we left off Teysa's story.
But her being hired to take out the Obzedat is an excellent development from where we left off Teysa's story.
Frankly, that'd be a ten times better story than RTR. Sign me up for a RTRTR, But first we need to get that Egyptian plane, that dinosaur plane, the rescue of Elspeth, dragonfall...
Goddamnit, Magic is all booked out for the next couple decades.
Not the best I've seen. This habit of Magic writers to try and capture action scenes in their passages is quite annoying to me, it just looks messy and convoluted. Action shouldn't be that descriptive in my opinion, but to each its own. The dialogues, funnily enough, were the high point of the story to me, unfortunately they didn't compensate the excessive use of descriptors.
Moreover, I'm deeply disappointed that Kaya just breaks her contract with the noble to help the mother's ghost. You would expect that someone in this line of work would fulfill their obligations to the end. Imagine if they get word that the nobleman she was supposed to help died in the hands of the ghost she was supposed to kill? Probably nobody would hire her anymore and she could even face some retalation from the nobleman's relatives. They literally just did that so she would look as the 'good girl', when there was no need for it. I will wait consequences for her actions, knowing that there'll probably be none.
Anyhow, give it a B-. Less description in the action scenes, more focus on the characters and an ending that makes more sense would've improved the grade.

Very intrigued by the new Planeswalker: Kaya, Ghost Assassin
No card spoiled yet, as far as I could see.
I don't even know what she can do, and she's already my new favorite planeswalker...
