Phyrexians never fail to make a mockery of things they compleated, such as Shattered Angel, so it's not surprising that they turned Ezuri into a maddening-looking half-machine.
You know, I wouldn't put it past the creative to have Mizzix actually being Crizicrix and they just got name wrong. I mean even the from the brief description, their story is similar...
I know I am a nitpicker, but it is Crixizix ;-)
But it was my first reaction precisely. Would not hurt them for her to be Crix(izix).
Getting Uncle Karlov is cool
As for Meren, I was surprised that the "Nel Toth" name evoked Alara in me. Correctly. I am a geek, apparently.
Arjun sounds and looks a heck of Indian. He would even fit into Kaladesh's presented color scheme. But the description does not point there in the slightest.
Anya looks lots like a generic, eventually Boros angel, but lacks the insignia. I am not getting much of a Norse valkyrie vibe from her, as commented by others. She is, however, distinctly different from the other RW commander angel, Basandra.
I think that the Kalemne's mention of angels is an oversight by the authors. They probably took the deck and forgot angels are not present in Theros.
I'm sad for Ezuri. As much as I disliked Mirrodin, some of its characters were quite cool, he was one of them. I hope he'll awaken one day like Belbe and die gloriously wreaking havoc on NPH.
A little off-topic, but I wonder after seeing Ezuri in this state, whether Koth will be compleated as well. It would be intriguing to see a compleated, living walker infect other planes.
BAck to the topic. Anyone can decipher the flavor of his card? Why get experience on creatures smaller than him? Like he preys on the weak? Or seeks the way of Progress, and that starts with the weak?

About something like that. Maybe it is a nod to him formerly being elf and being good with lots of other small ones. The growing part is the progress.

Perhaps it may be as you say. But when was the last time we heard about Creative's stance on the spark? After all, they're the very same people who retcon Nissa and many more characters and planes. Might still be valid, but it could expire the moment ink touches the pad.
It's better to assume they'll maintain consistency, than to assume there's no consistency at all. They've got to keep some semblance of narrative to convince their consumers they've got it together, after all.
It's been stated that the spark and phyrexian oil don't mix. It's been used as a major plot point at least once.
The little backstory they gave Ezuri was nice. Jin - Gitaxias really got his hands on him. I'm kinda miffed that Ezuri's Predation had 0 synergie with Ezuri himself.

Based on past examples of the recent Blue aligned Phyrexians, they mostly use small creatures and find ways of abusing the form they are in. Green aligned Phyrexians instead prefer survival of the fittest.
In keeping with Ezuri's lore, after his perfection he continues doing what he did before: keep his people alive. Since elves in New Phyrexia are kind of the wimps of the plane, he is trying to find ways to make his people better to survive the coming presumed continuation of the Evolution. As blue, he adapts to the surroundings, and as green he pushes his people to be greater and also to keep in line with his old roots.
I think that Ezuri's Predation actually does fit into the flavor, as the old Ezuri would have used swarm tactics like that, and is very green because of it. Though the card does not synchronize with Ezuri's card itself, it definitely is a testament to the Phyrexian he has become as well as a good judge of his power now.
I'm not sure how much of this extends into any stories but there is evidence that at least some number of angles were dissatisfied with some aspects of the Boros and defected, many to the Orzhov.

That was a retcon. Originally, the Orzhov angels were their own type of being, but in RTR they changed it to have Boros angels defecting to the Orzhov and Gateless.

Mmmm. I wasn't around for the original Ravnica block but I don't imagine calling it a retcon is accurate. It seems fine to me that there are angles who default to either guild but then after whatever debacle happened with Razia some of the boros angels defected. I'm not opposed to what you said if you can provide evidence of it but my explanation seems more reasonable.

The original was... imperfect.
Ezuri, claw of progress is kind of imperfectly suited for predation of his own design as well. Bummer.

After Razia. She was the only angel after the events of the original Rav block and thus by default, the guildmaster
Can only angels lead the boros? Why would she be the only angel left?
