Huh... I wonder what could possibly be significant about that. It has to be important, but I can't think of anything that doesn't seem pointless. I'm sure there's a reason but I dunno what it could be.

They didn't care that he was the savior of Fort Keff, the great hunter of Ondu, the champion of Kabira. To them, he was just another piece of flesh, a thing with life to be drained away.
Maybe, in response to the Eldritch monster/angels turning bad, the wild spirit of Innistrad is growing stronger in retaliation, and pushing out the human aspect of the Lycanthropes.

Maybe it was a wolfir? Not quite sure how they work...
I think in-world they'd know the difference between a wolfir and a werewolf even if we can't really tell the difference just looking at them. We do know they are aware that there are wolfir and werewolf in enough capacity to be able to be actively prejudice towards them specifically while also specifically hunting remaining werewolves pre-SOI. The implication would be they know wolfir aren't werewolves but still disliked them anyway.

The current art direction seems to differentiate them on the basis that Werewolves have giant shoulders in place of necks and Wolfir are relatively humanoid. Unfortunately it seem wolfir are decidedly unpopular with Creative/Polling so this will probably be a moot point by the end of EMN.
Not sure it this is the right place for it, but there is a new video in portuguese in hanweirchronicle.com
The letter reads something like:
"I write from Hanweir province (formally Hanweir town). I understand that you have hunted angels lately, but we discovered something that may be of your interest.
Our wall's captain recently killed a werewolf between the city walls and was scared to discover that he had not changed back when he died. I have included part of his skin and the head of the arrow that killed he as evidence. Please answer as soon as you can - my city grows in apprehension and concern about the conditions of the world beyond our walls.
Thank you,
Oliver Hayfield"
I found that really interesting. It seems that not only the cursemute has changed, but the very nature of lycanthropy on the plane.
Sad to say this might be Tovolar.
Otherwise this could be a very bad sign, seems like the monsters might be getting stronger.

Tovolar? Really? A wolf that never changes to human form, and at the same time we had this very particular pear farmer Hadwin Dodd talking to Oliver Hayfield in the very first Hanweir Chronicle article? I do not think so.

Since I picked it up last night, I discovered (weirdly enough) that yet another land has the lattice pattern.
The trees in Forest 296 have a latticed pattern up their trunks. And it's distinctly not a normal thing based on the forests in the other two arts.
With that making four of five, I think that there's one basic land to show a cryptolith, one to show the messed up Avacyn symbol in some fashion (for example, possibly in the light formation of plains 285), and one to show the lattice-work.
I'll bet when Eldritch Moon stuff starts, we'll get a little Arcana-esque thing pointing these out.

Huh. Very interesting. If this isn't a deliberate move on Wizard's part, I'm officially clueless.

I have a quick question about the Lunarch faction, and someone correct me if I'm wrong about anything. So they're supposedly the group that still follows Avacyn's newly misguided code of morality, right? (Also, I'm assuming that it follows that Odric is an antagonist too? ) So do we know how the angels treat the Lunarch? Do they recognize that they're doing Avacyn's work, and therefore leaves them alone, or do they still purify them without bias?
So the SOI pre-release puzzle was a lantern and on Twitter Wizards have posted some art of geists with lanterns suggesting that they will "help light your way". The seems to support the notion that geists are on the side of good this block. Looking through Gatherer it seems that Blue and White spirits very frequently carry lanterns. This was also true in the original Innistrad block.

The only thing we know for sure about the Lunarch Council is that they replaced the traditional Lunarch of the Avacynian Church following the massacre in Thraben during the original Innistrad block.
It seems likely that they at least believe themselves to still be aligned with Avacyn but there's nothing to suggest Avacyn and her angels are sparing anyone.
Yeah I had brought up the lattice pattern in the Plains cloud art before, but was dismissed. I suppose seeing it in person convinced some people, and I did notice it elsewhere. Magnifying Glass, Thraben Inspector, Gruesome Deformity, etc. The clues (har har) are everywhere. It's so creepy having Emrakul on Innistrad of all planes. That world has so much wrong with it... on a plane with geists and graves and undead and all that, I can't imagine how awful it is to have the greatest Eldrazi titan there too, messing things up.
I'm divided on Emrakul. She makes sense here, and it's a perfect addition to the horror. But a part of me just doesn't want her on Innistrad.
Had a great time at the prerelease. Wish Port Town didn't look like a BR land though. Should have shown Nephalia's silver beach or something tbh
Did you guys notice the change on the art of the Eldritch Moon that was showened in the announcement by wizards and the one in the back side of the tokens? the zombie that is on the left side of Liliana got a "tentacle"
sorry for my english
I have to add something, this block, is heavily, heavily based on the videogame Bloodborne style and lore
Now I can asure that Emrakul is involved on this, and I'm really excited for the next set, we'll see much horror, much madness and more secrets.
Bloodborne is just based on Gothic Horror as well. It was also released AFTER they would have finished the story of SOI, since they start work on a block two years before it releases.
Has there been any explanation of why the prerelease puzzle was one of the spider lanterns from Daring Sleuth? Like is it important to the storyline or was it just something fun for the prerelease?

People keep saying this, but funnily enough, when I first saw art of player characters in Bloodbornrz my firsylt thought was "This looks exactly like Innistrad!" Now there's even more overlap since Innistrad is taking in eldritch horror presumably to coincide with Eldrazi themes which also something Magic did before Bloodborne. Any similarity can't be assumed as more than coincidence because any combination of these themes is going tofeel similar regardless of the existence of the other.

I was going to say claiming this set copied Bloodborne is like saying Daft Punk copied Kanye, but that wouldn't even be fair, because it's not that they're related to each other at all. It's just that they have Gothic themes in general as a common backdrop.

Wolf Hall copied Game of Thrones!
Star Wars copied Eragon!
I would note, most Eldritch Horror IS Gothic Horror, or it was at least the next evolution. They pair together really well.
Side note: I saw on Reddit a little while back that In Garruk's Wake also has weird tentacle/vein things. I'm not saying Liliana is behind this, but it's certainly ANOTHER possibility, lol.

Nope, it really is a tentacle mutation. Is the best picture i can take with my cellphone. Maybe someone can find the same publicity image and take a better picture

Yes but they are a distinct purple that they tied to the Chain Veil curse on Garruk, not the magenta spectrum used for Eldrazi.

This is an interesting possibility. The Chain Veil might be powerful enough to gradually cause plane-wide corruption. Have we ever gotten an explicit description of what the Chain Veil can do?
