I agree; this is almost certainly Avacyn. As much as I want Emrakul or the Phyrexians to be skulking about Innistrad, I think this story's going to take a bit of a different turn.
With the recent knowledge that Emrakul warps living beings into monsters, she might actually work for Innistrad, actually.
But I think it's more likely that it'll have to do with the crumbling of the church.
If Emrakul is in play Act 1 would be the crumbling of the church, then Act 2 would be the Emrakul reveal. With no resolution for Em but an escape leaving the next Eldrazi encounter 2-3 years out.

Oh man, I'm so brain dead. It was something Brady said in the old Ask Brady thing in the Wizards Forum. Here's the summary. Unfortunately the original source disappeared with the forum.

I suspect Tamiyo's standing improved in the later market research (perhaps after she turned out to be good and it became clear to everyone that Tibalt was awful). What Maro has said about her when asked is that she had a somewhat mixed reaction, with fewer players liking her, but those players really liking her.
Given that, and the fact that she's really not tied to the plane of Innistrad (she could have just been dropping by for a couple weeks or something), I don't really expect her to show up in Shadows Over Innistrad. I suspect that eventually they'll give her another card, maybe in some future supplemental product, given that she does have some dedicated fans.
Just wanted to say Mark gave a When response to whether or not Tamiyo would would return back in November. Of course that doesn't confirm it or anything at all, and things flip flop back and forth all the time. Just as of then it can be considering not unlikely for her to return at some point. I'm also surprised by her unpopularity, since her plane of origin mostly doesn't matter in context and that she was actually a good card at the time as far as I know. I guess her art isn't very flattering in my opinion.
I've also for some reason been struck by the idea that the character in the background of the key art is Olivia Voldaren for some reason. Only thing I can think is the eyes. While she was just a random legendary back in Innistrad, I don't think it's too crazy considering what they've done with characters like Ob Nixilis and Noyan Dar recently.

They didn't care that he was the savior of Fort Keff, the great hunter of Ondu, the champion of Kabira. To them, he was just another piece of flesh, a thing with life to be drained away.
The description of Sorin's origin and history in the Zendikar art book got me thinking. What if Edgar Markov has learned of the connection between Avacyn and his grandson, and is able to use that blood connection to corrupt Avacyn? Blood is clearly an important symbol for the story of the block, as shown in the teaser trailer and the brief description of the Innistrad artbook. I think this could be an interesting direction to explore.
(Also, Tamiyo is unpopular? Kamigawa sure is, but I hear mostly good things about the Moon Sage. I certainly adore her.)
She was when Avacyn Restored first came out, people thought she was too out of place and didn't realize how powerful her card was. Plus it didn't help that she didn't get story info.

Okay, sure, but... nothing got story info.
Compare what we know about Tibalt against what info we have about Tamiyo. We have his whole origins story, while all we really know about Tamiyo is she is a moonfolk from Kamigawa and likes to study other planes (with a focus on the moon it seems).

It will be quiet interesting to see what dilemma they have in store for Innistrad this time around. Like the white feather being covered in blood has some powerful symbolism to it. Did something happen to the moon? Avacyn died in a tragic manner? I personally cannot wait.

That's note entirely true. According to Maro she was relatively well received to the point of being a candidate to replace Jace in mono-Blue (something that will never happen, but still)
I know that noone would believe me, but i think that Avacyn is Sorin-Nahiris child and the big enemy for this set is Xenagos. Just look up the born of the gods trailer. That throne at the end is just so similar to the symbol of avacyn church in the soi trailer. And yes i know he died but theros is the block with the returned topic-so jund xenagos planeswalker.
No, that is utter nonsense. Sorry.

I think Edgar as a legendary is very likely given BFZ/OGW's focus on legendaries that matter.
Tamiyo's presence would also be cool to explore--and I really want her to shift from Innistrad to the "moons" on New Phyrexia. I'd be totally fine if she just pops around to "study" and has tangential effects on the main plot. (See my fiction in my signature for my interpretation of her in the original Innistrad.)
I would hope Emrakul stays away from Innistrad, just so we get a brief break from Eldrazi (other than meeting up again with Sorin).
And as far as "Avacyn is Nahiri"... I can see it, maybe, but Avacyn is an angel while Nahiri is Kor. I know magic can do wonderful things, but that may be too big of a jump. However, the impact of the moon on silver, and with Nahiri being able to forge things (like silver), I can see some potential connection, but a full transformation...
Well, Innistrad is (was?) all about transformations, but still...

With Jace being the face of the set/block, its hard to see how they would find room for a Tamiyo card, but she'll probably make one or more appearances in the stories.
As far as Nahiri being transformed into Avacyn, the jump of a human walker becoming an angel already has a similar precedent. Because Ob Nixilis actually started as a human who became a demon, an easy enough parallel. That being said, The Nahiri=Avacyn theory does have some other potential problems, so I'm uncertain what to think of it.
Jace has gone to Innistrad, but is he the "face" of the block? Jace also went to Zendikar, but Gideon shined there. Jace may be playing Sherlock on Innistrad, but I don't think that guarantees him being the central character--of course, his interaction with Liliana is sure to play a key role. I guess I just hadn't pictured him as the central mover of the block.

He's on the only key art we have for SOI same as Gideon was for BFZ. You can bet that Jace will have most of the focus.
The art book's description of Emrakul's corruption is very specific. Corrupted plant life turns into twisting, writhing tentacles similar to those found on Emrakul. Corrupted creatures develop growths of the fleshy latticed structures found on Emrakul's brood lineage, which grow larger over time and may potentially lead to an outright transformation into one of Emrakul's drones (or so it is theorized by some Zendikari scholars). There's no such corruption found on the demon we've seen. At this point I'd attribute any differences between this demon and the ones seen in the original Innistrad block to updates to the Innistrad style guide, as we've seen with every revisit to a plane since Scars of Mirrodin.

But the people behind the barrier knew.
He doesn't. He's been told by Ugin that Innistrad is Sorin's home plane and might be found there and to find said vampire.

It does seem likely that Edgar will get up to something, after Wizards went out of their way to establish that he's still around for some reason.
