You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

Nooo! Teysa!!! And won't the Boros take notice if their champion disappears? Creative better make good on this Arc in the next return to Ravnica Block. I personally enjoy the Black/White combo but it's always so frustrating that the majority of Orshovia is evil. Here's hope that Teysa can banish these dead oligarchs and work on the Orzhov's PR.

Is it just me or does the Living Guildpact frequently forget he is a telepath, thus allowing multiple individuals to deceive him with ulterior motives?
Well, would Jace really oppose what Teysa was trying to accomplish here?
Unclear. I believe it is unlikely he would. My point being, that for an individual who represents a color so fascinated with the accumulation of knowledge, he sure does neglect the use his primary power in his interactions with other individuals when it would really be beneficial to know their true intentions. I understand if Jace was truly omniscient it would make storytelling bland and less intriguing. However now he is both physically inept and mentally inferior in recent UR stories. Why is this guy the face of MtG again?
It is not altogether dissimilar from Superman storylines where we all know he is only slightly slower than the Flash with the reflexes to match but some normal human with some overpowered weapon always gets the drop on him.
I think it was mentioned that Jace intentionally keeps from using telepathy when he can. He considers it rude and impolite, I guess. It certainly wouldn't allow him to make many friends.
Teysa is pretty much the dumbest person ever here.
"Okay. I have plan. We go into the inner most Orzhov strongold, get next to the bodies of the ruling ghost leaders, then law them to death."
"Oh no. This magical sealed up place has no laws to hold me. Whatever should I do against these non magic casting incoporal entities? With this magic sword and the leader of the policing force as a bodyguard, I guess I just give up."
Her secret plan was bind them to minor legal loopholes.

I'll concede that is a fair point. However, also rude and impolite: taking advantage of someone when they are "distracted" to further your own ends. Also, not a true friend. At least not the type one's mother would approve of.
I disagree. While Individual Orzhov members may have have little to no magic power (a fact that i'm unsure the author is correct in and only revealed in this story) The Orzhov as a counsel have great magical influence as can be seen in several cards.
Edit: I meant the Ghost counsel not guild as a whole. There are many skilled guild mages
Then why did Teysa get surprised when the magics started? As she said, dead cant casr spells. Quess who can? The powerful mage and ghost speaker and her buddy the rules enforcer. A sudden lack of law isnt going to remove a Taljic's muscle or Teysa's powers.

Just slice up their host bodies.
Because Teysa is an advokist, a lawyer. She wants to beat the Obzedat and reform the guild to make profits in this world matter more than in the next, but she wants to do it legally. Hence why she wanted to bind them with the Guildpact. Her only mistake was not knowing that the room where the records are kept is somehow magically exempt from the Guildpact.

Teysa wields an immense amount of magic, but it is only really effective against members of other guilds.

Soooooo, I just asked the writer of this UR on Twitter about the Karlov ghosty (don't go asking her any other questions, your technically not supposed to) and she answered a question I asked about the Karlov ghost. It is in fact, not Uncle Karlov, but grandpa Karlov, Uncle Karlov's father and Teysa's grandfather. Woo!
And here I thought guildpact, living or no, can only regulate conflicts between guilds, not all small stuff like "properly authorized orzhovs can access orzhov chambers". Guildpact being able to overrule everything makes this position too power trip - happy, plus in this case guildpact-person has to constantly watch one's tongue.
Funny that Teysa never mentions Jace's name. Ravnican thing to name only friends, see "project lightning bug"?

You're making the assumption that the Obzedat needs their bodies to continue to exist, for which there's no evidence or precedent.
Even then, even if destroying the bodies somehow severes the ghosts' connection to the physical realm or whatever, how many bodies do you think Tajic can slice up before the Obzedat cast a spell or summon some thrulls to constrain him? I'd be surprised if he could get more than one, two at most. Not to mention that it was stated that a lot of the bodies were higher up the wall of the chamber.
Really, you don't get to call Teysa stupid without even rethinking your claims and alternative strategies for a single second.

I'm not in disagreement with you. I'm disagreeing with with those who argue that the orzhov counsel as a whole cannot perform magical workings. Teysa is (was) a very skilled law mage, I was referring to individual members of the ghost counsel. I, like Teysa would have second thoughts about being twitchy and trying to destroy the obzedat head on.

I believe, what with the mention of getting a grappling hook and a cloak out, Jace was in the middle of packing for Zendikar. Or at the very least for an important Planeswaking trip. I think he can be forgiven for not having too much focus on what one Advokist is asking reinforcement on.
EDIT: WHOOPS. SOMEONE ALREADY SAID THAT. 'S WHAT I GET FOR NOT READING THE ENTIRETY OF TODAY'S POSTS. SORRY.
I liked this story at first. I was glad to see Teysa take a starring role and see where her previously mentioned plot went. It was neat to get a glimpse into how things work on RAvnica with the Guildpact. I liked the story up until where it ended. Let me repeat that. I like the story up until WHERE it ended. The fact that her plan didn't work isn't a big deal. They are still alive so there is still a chance for them to succeed or take a different path. But the fact that it ended right there, without us having really any clue of where it goes next is just plain ridiculous. Encouraging conversation and speculation is one thing, but this is a cliffhanger that will literally take YEARS to resolve. (Okay I guess there is a chance that after shadows over Innistrad is a return to Ravnica again, but I'm not betting on it so that's minimum two years.)
For some people, a wait like that might heighten the anticipation, but me, it just bores me. It makes me want to move on to something more interesting.

We don't necessarily have to wait until a block featuring Ravnica comes about to get the continuance of this story. Doug, Maro, and others have been quite clear that they don't intend to leave unresolved threads hanging for too long anymore. So I wouldn't be surprised if we somehow return to this plot in the near future in non-major story-arc episodes, such as the last two weeks of stories.

I think the Guildpact regulates anything Guild-wise, and as I recall while Jace's word is law,I think he only interprets. Like a grand arbiter. But I could be recalling correctly. Maybe Jace can say anything he wants. But I think the purpose of the maze was to find someone who wouldn't abuse that power, so.
Maybe it's just me, but the reveal that the room is magically exempt the Guildpact was super hype to me. I thought it was a huge HOLY COW moment. It's so ridiculous of an idea but I thought the cleverness of using the small law confirmations to sneak into the vault was extremely cool, and then having it shut down by such a silly thing. To me it was kind of like the moment in a movie where someone tips their sunglasses and goes "Down here, there is no law. My god...." It was that kind of ridiculous to me and I enjoyed it. Made me smile really wide.
I dont know much about Teysa's character, but I enjoyed it here. Not much else to say in that respect. I mostly just wanted to talk about how sweet that moment was to me. It was the second one I've felt like that so far that I recall.
I do agree that that was a pretty huge cliffhanger to leave on, especially since we have no clue when it'll be resolved. Also at the criticism that it was rude or impolite for Teysa to intentionally wait for Jace to become too busy to focus on her (I didn't get that impression and thought it was just coincidence, but I may have missed the hint), to be fair, she technically doesn't have to always use the nicest means as a partially-black character. If that was the intention, that she did specifically wait until Jace wasn't focused enough to take advantage of it, it's actually kind of a cute way for a protagonist, heroic character in context to still show a black side.

They didn't care that he was the savior of Fort Keff, the great hunter of Ondu, the champion of Kabira. To them, he was just another piece of flesh, a thing with life to be drained away.

Did they say that? Well, I hope they follow through because if this is how they are going to tell stories, waiting the usual length between them until we return would be terrible. I do hope when they come back to her she succeeds though. I really don't like the whole spirit debt thing (personally, not from a prose standpoint) and I would love to see her get rid of it. I know some might argue it is a major aspect of the Orzhov, but I think few would argue that it is a good thing, in universe.

They did. Actually, if you look at Maro's blog he answers a question related to that today. And Doug and other members of the creative team have said that their intention going forward is to tie up (or continue) loose threads, and telling this story may be apart of that, and to give more satisfying endings to stories and arcs instead of constantly leaving everything hanging and unresolved all the time.
