We sort of did get that with the M15 stories she Garuuk killed the cryomancer PW from the unnamed icy plane. They just avoided naming it, and rightfully so IMO.
This indicates otherwise.
As for the order I'm going to err on the side of the two not being related. However I could see it being a thing. Gideon's mentor was a walker or something like that right?
Erring there is an error.
MaRo keeps hinting on his blog that it isn't a coincidence. He's been doing it since at least last year.

Once? Not to mention MaRo is known to mess with us. Like I said. Until we get confirmation I will err on the side of saying there is no connections but it is entirely possible that they are connected. We'll find out in a few months I would reckon.

It was an error on my part to not also link you this.
Caution's good, but a lot's pointing to Heliud and Heliod being related.
Correct me if I'm wrong but:
- Gideon's Mentor's Mentor lived on Theros (at least for a time), as Gideon's mentor wasn't a walker.
- Gideon's Mentor's Mentor was killed by a powerful Pyromancer, meaning they had come into conflict
- Regatha has Keral Keep, which was founded by a powerful Pyromancer that is hinted to have been a walker (Jaya Ballard was the assumption)
- The Order of Heliud is on Regatha, but there are very similar unnamed orders on other planes. It's a reasonable assumption that, since both Maro and Beyer are being coy about the name similarity, that they're founded by someone that knew about Heliod.
So, it's easy to see Gideon's great-mentor having established the Order of Heliod/Heliud on other planes, including Chandra's home plane and Regatha. I think we'll know better after Origins comes out, as it's the most logical place to make these kinds of revelations.
I believe it was stated in Purifying Fire.
I'll check and get back to you on that.
EDIT:
Nothing for certain on her founding it. Someone was inspired to make it after her trip though.
"Luti was well-versed in the legend of Jaya Ballard, the bombastic fire mage whose long-ago sojourn on Regatha had inspired the founding of this monastery." - The Purifying Fire, page 12 (Paperback)
Don't recall Planechase or UR ever taking place on Regatha either.
There was one Plane card from Planechase 2, Mount Keralia. And the Chandra vs Jace webcomic was partially set there; we didn't had Uncharted Realms tales back then, IIRC.
Mt. Keralia is where they fought, yes, and it is on Regatha.
The beginning of The Purifying Fire has the comic retold, or sets up the comic, and shortly after comes that quote from my last post. Not entirely sure which came first.
Hmmm, didn't Gideon say his home was destroyed? Maybe Gideon's home was the kingdom destroyed by Heliod? Perhaps they had a somewhat different culture than the rest of Theros, perhaps partly due to being on an island, and partly due to visiting of a planeswalker who was the mentor of Gideon's mentor, and because of this were less respectful of the gods and perhaps Heliod in particular. Maybe Gideon's indestructibility trait tendency is partly because he had to survive a Wrath of God at some point, after returning to his home-world after early walks?

I'm lame and don't have a link, but I seem to remember MaRo on blogatog saying that the intro to Duels 2012 was made by the people who produced the video game, and that Wizards didn't really have any input. He also said that after that they started watching things like that more carefully.
Did he mention anything more about it in the Purifying Fire? Or maybe I just saw that in the wiki, because I never played Duels 2012, only Duels 2013, 2014, and 2015.

The Duels 2012 intro video is cool-looking, but it is not, and never was, canon. It was made without the input of the Creative Team, and all the dialogue and events in it are not considered true in the story. We’re sorry that it causes confusion, and it’s awkward that it’s out there that way, but that’s where we are.
(That trailer resulted in a bunch of changes for how video trailers were made here at Wizards. Guidance of the Magic storyline across different media was kind of… in disarray at the time. We’re in a much better place now.)
Gideon’s backstory in Magic Origins will build on what’s said in other sources, such as the novel The Purifying Fire.
