Maybe one of you guys can help me out with this because I'm a bit confused.
The last time we saw Garruk was in a core set where he seemed to be hunting planeswalkers. I'm not so sure how core sets fit into the storyline but that is the last time we saw him.
"He knew the witch was heading to Thraben, and he could doggedly continue his pursuit. Or he could strike out another way, toward the origin of the magic he had felt so strongly. There was a power on this plane that could cure curses. Maybe there was another way to rid him of his evil burden—a way that didn't involve the witch.
Sometimes a straight line wasn't the best way to catch a beast. And sometimes the quickest route to a kill was the longest path through the forest. Yes, this day he would let his senses guide him. Garruk knew his hunt for Liliana was far from over. But for now, he turned away from Thraben and headed toward the rising sun."
In the Uncharted Realms story with this same event (Beast) it makes it seem like he does the opposite of that, also right at the end of the story:
"I could stop hunting her.
What would I do instead? I have hunted her for so long. What did I do before?
I look to my left, and see a broken branch. I crouch down to it and sniff, and a growl rumbles in my gut. It's her.
I may not get another chance at a cure. If I leave the light behind, I'll have to kill her before I lose myself again.
If I follow the light, though, I'll lose the trail.
I sniff the ground again. She's still there, and it's fresh enough to follow.
I turn to my left, away from the blinding dawn, and begin to walk."
These two stories are conflicting and I cannot find any other stories that talk about this event. Which way did Garruk go?
My best guess is that the first happened, and then as the curse came back, Garruk lost it looking for the "Stitcher" he thought was Liliana, and ended up back in the swamp. He did end up heading towards Kessig, after all, home of the werewolves. It's possible that his hallucination was an "after the fact" thing.
And judging by how bad it's affecting him, it's hard to say how much past and present are blending for him.
Alternatively, that bit in the Guide to AVR was written BEFORE they decided to go all the way with Garruk, and subsequently, didn't happen. Which is unfortunate, but understandable.
I think ThyLordQ's alternative explanation is what really happened.
It gets ever weirder when try to take the Uncharted Realm article on Odric, Master Tactician into account. At the end of that story Garruk is in the custody of Odric. I guess he just escapes of screen shortly afterwards.
I think he only loses the curse for a matter of seconds before it comes back so I don't think that can be that he moves around for a little while before it comes back.
Ordic says that he is gonna throw Garruk at the foot of Avacyn. I think he means its after she broke out so it could be after he decides to go either way. I'm just glad I'm not the only one who can't understand whats going on here.
So basically what happens is Garruk gets cursed by liliana. The curse pretty much makes him lose control of himself. Thus why he wants to kill Liliana. However when Avacyn did the cursemute it gave a temporary relief to the curse. He finds out Avacyn is responsible for "healing" him and a guard of soldiers take him to Avacyn. However before he meets Avacyn his curse happens and he ends up killing all of the guard. At this point the curse on Garruk has taken hold and pretty much made him a killing machine. Jace eventually finds Garruk and tells him he can cure him. Garruk says he doesn't want to be cured, he has embraced the power of his curse. Jace then tries to do some mind magic on Garruk but Garruk is just too strong. Garruk then spares Jace and tells him this is his one chance because they were friends but next time they meet he will kill him. Garruk then Planeswalks away to an unknown location. At this point it is assumed that since he has come to terms with curse he is no longer strictly going after Liliana and is really just trying to kill anything or anyone that is extremely powerful so he can prove to himself his strength.

In a recent answer from Doug on his tumbler page he posted a link to A Planeswalkers guide to Avacyn Restored Part 2 in that story it says this all at the end:
"He knew the witch was heading to Thraben, and he could doggedly continue his pursuit. Or he could strike out another way, toward the origin of the magic he had felt so strongly.
