Remember that Ajani could only summon the avatar becuase he took a portion of the Maelstrom's mana.
Indeed had it not been for the unique location Bolas would have snapped up and swallowed Ajani whole.
I'm not saying Ajani is more powerful then Bolas just saying Bolas wanted to destroy Alara, Ajani wanted to save Alara, Alara is still here. I won't call that a stalemate. Was it unique circumstance? Yes, but I'd still say Ajani was the victor.

We still need to know exactly how it happened, but feels like Tamiyo should maybe be in contention for the top five or some such, sealing an Eldrazi isn't exactly a minor feat, and she seemed to do it mostly on her own.
Bolas didn't neccesarily want Alara destroyed. He wanted the power of the Maelstrom, which had the side effect of damaging Alara. His plan was by and large successful; the only part of the Maelstrom he didn't absorb (as far as I'm aware) was the part that Ajani took.

From Alara Unbroken, Bolas just absorbed the bulk of the maelstorm and is back at nearly immortal power;
"I fear nothing."
"Don't do it Bolas," shouted Ajani up at the dragon god, "Just go. You've done enough damage here."
"Why shouldn't I not? It's a disgrace now, a ruin berefit of value."
No. It's my world" With a mighty leap Ajani dived into what remained of the maelstrom.
This implies Bolas had all that power he had wanted/could get from the Maelstrom but was gonna let Alara die anyways.

Right now the only point of comparison we really have is that Tamiyo seems to be much more powerful than Jace, probably somewhere around Liliana's level. I expect that the details of sealing Emrakul will be a special case.

Well, I'm decently sure it's only because of Innistrad's moon it can be done, but it still seems fairly impressive.

She's got Liliana and the Gatewatch assisting in some way so I'm reserving judgement for now. Its not like Chandra can usually create blasts of fire so large they can incinerate gods.
Yes, but destroying Alara wasn't his plan. It was a side effect, and Ajani didn't stop him from completing his real goal of absorbing the maelstrom. Ergo, I count it as at least a partial win for Bolas.
According to the art book image Nissa is helping in the actual act of sealing. The rest are probably holding off various insundy horrors. And yeah without that moon it's unlikely that anyone could have some anything about Ems rampage.

That sounds generally like what I expected. It still seems impressive to me. I guess I'll need to wait for the story to see if it's as big a deal as it sounds like to me currently.
Yea I would also like to point out that no one is aware of how weak Sorin has become. He lost a huge amount of power from the mending and even more when making Avacyn and the hell vault. Liliana is afraid of who he WAS, she's is not in the know how of sorins decline in power.
I'd like to say, in terms of ranking. First off are my Top Tier
Nicol bolas ( yes people like to point out him losing this fight or that fight but raw power isn't what makes dangerous, it's his cunning. Everyone is a pawn in his game. He released the eldrazi just so he could go off and do something unseen. He beat Ugin by outsmarting him. they were close enough in power sure but Bolas turned Ugins strength into his downfall. I'm not sure ugin would win without help.
Ugin is second. Not a hard pick.
Karn? Sure he's got all this powerful stuff given to him... but until he shows up and throws down, we can't say 100% that he's top tier. Plus isn't he a huge passiffist?
Nahri... gets top tier for me. She beat Sorin and completely messed up innistrad. Her lithomancy powers are impressive, and I'd go so far to say she has better Leyline manipulation than Nissa. She controlled eldrazi, and fought Sorin and his army of vampires, kicked his teeth in and left him encased in stone to watch innistrad burn. Her hadrons can inprison eldrazi and planeswalker sparks. That and she can be pretty cunning, her revenge was absolute and no one saw it coming in time to stop it. She did not just charge in blindly. Now she did lose the first fight but that was only due to the fact she didn't know what the hellvault did, and was blindsided before she could kill avacyn
Secondary Tier
Sorin.
He lost a lot of power, but he is still very dangerous, and was the ruler of innistrad. He loses favor with me because he's so dam arrogant, the entire fight with nahri could of been avoided. He had to get help simply to fight nahiri getting forced to kill Avacyn just for a vampire army that didn't help anyways. If he was as powerful as all of you believe then he shouldn't of been so afraid to 1v1 nahiri
Mr Ob Nix. Got a power boost after getting his spark back, and completely beat around 3 of the gate watch till help showed up.
Sarkhan, this guy has been all over the scale but his new non crazy 3 color form, would be his strongest. I've not read of him fighting other walkers but he can go dragon, summon or control lesser dragons, and was a leader of his own raiding country before zurgo was. So plenty of combat experience.
Third tier,
Garruk, he's low on my list, simply because he no longer really matters and is sealed by a Hedron. That and I agree with him being very dangerous physically but not magically. He can control beasts and is an crazy hunter. Yea he killed some people, but who cares about them, they were garbage tier walkers anyways. He lost to Liliana and got cursed. His strength is that of a beast but I'd say he can be hunted and defeated like one, get him out of his element and lead him into traps. He can't do much if he's stuck in the open with out beasts to summon for aid.
Varaska, she's a powerful assassin and can possibly turn invisible? Regardless she has gorgon powers, which can be hard to fight.
Ashoik, he almost made a nightmare god, that was a test so it failing dosnt count against. He can influence people's dreams. Even if he can't fight you flat out right, he's sneaky and manipulative and can summon nightmares.
Dak feydon next.
And finally tezzert
Fourth tier
All of the gate watch members. What's that! They aren't high on my list!? That's cause they only win as a group and plot armor. Let's go in depth on this. First off
Liliana , with veil obviously. She's my pick for strongest of the gate watch. She's a walking zombie apocalypse and is manipulating. Sure she has kill spells, but her true power is only realized in the shear number of zombies she can control. And that's her biggest strength as a nercomancer. but with out them she is very limited. As seen in lore, she couldn't even kill tezzrt with just her death magic, even tezzert relized that he would be dead if she had brought her usual undead army with her.
Gideon is next, great leadership skills, good combat experience and goes indestructible. Biggest problem is headstrong and does not think outside of the box very ridged and straightforward.
Ajani next, good fighter with lots of experience but went on a no kill strike. I don't count his fight with nicol bolas as a win for him. First he didn't beat the elder dragon, he used the maelstrom to make a copy of nicol bolas, nicol bolas beat himself. and I don't see that move working again, as it's not something he can just do wherever, also tools tons of free mana.
Chandra, powerful pyromancer can cast some crazy burn. But is a hot head, dosnt think ahead and falls for provoking and traps super easy.
Nissa, very situational power. She can read Leylines and summon elemental avatars to help, good with a sword. But if she cant channel power from the plane or summon help she's stuck with just sword play. Powers depend on current plane which at best means she's only helpful on non dark/evil twisted planes.
Finally we have jace. Very powerful telepath and good strategic planner. But is kind of a coward, can't fight directly and only runs off and throws illusions at you. Has the potential to be way stronger, I just don't see it happening outside of specifically plot critical moments.
Now the gate watch works cause they cover each other's weaknesses well. But sense this is all about power levels, id imagin these would be pure random no prep 1v1s to determine a stronger planeswalker, and for me I just don't see the gate watch winning to many. But as fun as this whole debate in the comments is. Everything is up to the writers and all of our votes are biased. It's hard to pick a clear cut winner. And I don't mention any other planeswalkers simple cause they either are dead, no longer a walker, not relevant, or I don't know enough about them. Also I don't count tamiyo cause she is a non combatant regardless of the fact she has scrolls that can destroy planes. Witch she would not use even to save her life. Finally we come to garbage tier ....
Hi you say Liliana is not very impressive but with the veil she was capable of controling the giant Eldrazi isn't that impressive When sorin needed the help of ugin and the other one to stop them the first time.
She wasn't capable of controlling the Eldrazi. At most she held Emrakul at bay (via attack, not control) for a few minutes and nearly died by doing it.
We still need to know exactly how it happened, but feels like Tamiyo should maybe be in contention for the top five or some such, sealing an Eldrazi isn't exactly a minor feat, and she seemed to do it mostly on her own.
Right now the only point of comparison we really have is that Tamiyo seems to be much more powerful than Jace, probably somewhere around Liliana's level. I expect that the details of sealing Emrakul will be a special case.

Just to clarify, but Tamiyo did not seal Emrakul. Emrakul possesed her, rewrote the scroll so it was a sealing spell instead of a planar destruction, provided the mana and casted the spell.
There are lots of Really good planeswalkers, like jace, lilliana with veil, garruk etc. But here are some of my favorites, that are so OP
Ajani, Mentor of heroes
elspeth, Sun's champion
and tezzeret, master of metal
