So when it comes down to storytelling and backstories in general, what do most all Planeswalkers' lives include? I known for sure the following: A home plane (common for this to remain a mystery) obviously a Planeswalker spark, but definitely a severe moment that triggers said spark to ignite, which also is followed by an immediate descriptive experience of the Blind Eternities immediately followed by arriving on another plane, then them learning to planeswalk back to said home plane. A color or colors (not sure how this is reflected within the character, but still) and a style of magic (like Jace's mind magic/Chandra's fire, Liliana's necromancy, etc) anything else anyone thinks most all Planeswalkers need to define them as their own characters?

3WWU, 2GWW, and 4RWW! These were the mana costs chosen to summon the perfect little angel! But Professor Avacyn accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction! Chemical x Thus, the Powerpuff Girls were born! Using their ultra super powers, Gisela, Bruna, and Sigarda have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil!
Yeah, kind of the most important thing to any story:
A motivation.
Eventually, in their individual stories, absolutely, but not every Planeswalker has been given a definining amount of motivation, so it seems to either emerge during the ignition of one's spark, or later on.
Also, some Planeswalkers clearly claim certain creatures as their own: Jace's Phantasm , Chandra's Phoenix , Ashiok's Adept etc. So that may be an optional but common occurrence between Planeswalkers

In more of a meta way, every Planeswalker needs to have some sort of reason to Planeswalk.
Otherwise they don't, and then there's no point for them to be a Planeswalker.

Bonding with and summoning creatures is an incredibly common occurrence to ALL mages on all planes.
Why it seems to favor Planeswalkers is an artifact of R&D, they felt it was important that the Planeswalker characters have a presence at lower rarities. Since they can't do this with the characters outright (Planeswalkers being exclusively mythic rare) they decided that some amount of signature spells at lower rarities would help give the characters a presence at lower rarities.
This is also why they tend to get lots of flavor text quotes.

Correct, I agree, my point about motivation though is Planeswalkers often gain a motivation after several unguided attempts, or due to the event that ignited the walker's spark. Generally speaking, planeswalking happens multiple times before each planeswalker develops a particular goal in mind when planeswalking from then on. True about the flavor text and creatures, pretty smart tactic, so I can still see it being an optional character trait. As for color, I'm not 100% sure on how this comes about and is reflected. Often, a color(s) reflects the PW's personality, and abilities/spells they might use fall within some combination of the color(s). However, beyond a character design, how do they technically pick up these color identities? Clearly Venser gained a color by the time his spark ignited and/or was 'mended' and become the Neowalker we're used to, so for example, for all we know, before Domri's spark ignited, he was mono and had only so far made mana bonds with Mountains... Or is it someone's opinion that dual-colored Planeswalkers are in fact both colors at their earliest relevant moment?
