In addition to kirin, what about djinn and efreet being in this block? They are from Arabic (and possibly Indian) folklore, so is WotC again using artistic license/creative liberties with their presence in this Mongolian-themed set?

Or, maybe it's not a Mongolian-themed set, and you're just making inferences that aren't intended to be there? It's been said a couple times that the inspiration for Tarkir comes from a variety of places, including Thai architecture for the Sultai, and yet you insist on pretending that it's intended to be a very specific location.

Djinn and Efreet originated in Arabic folklore, but many stories of them made their way to parts of central Asia, becoming small parts in their mythology and folklore. The original story of Aladdin for example took place in China. As wallycaine has pointed out Tarkir draws influence from all part of Asian mythology, which includes China, Japan, Tibet, Thai, Mongolian and a bunch of other places I can't name off the top of my head. Infact I won't be surprised if we had a few more Arabic influences because of how close it was to the main part of Asia sand how some of their folklore mixed together.

Now that each clan has been explored in detail in the Uncharted Realms column, will there be an article about how each clan views the other four? During the Return to Ravnica block, the article for each guild revealed the opinion that that guild had toward the other nine guilds, and during the Alara block, there was an article for each shard, which revealed how that shard viewed the other four, so I would like to see something similar for this block, as well.

I think your confused about the Alara article. I remember Maro doing an "interview" with each color about how they feel about the other colors and how they felt about being in a shard with each other. Plus since the shards where separated they had no knowledge of the other shards.

He shouted a challenge. The words were ancient; he did not know their meaning. The Whisperers said the words once were screamed by dragons. Surrak knew only that they were full of fury and power. Then he hurled himself forward.

I really hate this set. Please get to the Ugin/Eldrazi/Sorin/Sarkhan ties. I'm here for that. no1curr for Tarkir/Khans/petty plane stuff.
Then you might wanna stop reading UR for awhile, since most of those are about world building and "slice of life" about that plane.
I really liked this story since Surrak is my favorite Khan. With all this attention to them, I wonder if femur will play a big part of the main storyline.

Eh, talk for yourself.
I have to admit, Tarkir is not one of the more interesting planes we've visited recently, lorewise at least, but I take every bit of worldbuilding I can gobble up.
Your statement is also very ironic, because you keep talking about how you want to hear more about Jenrik and Arixmethes, which actually nobody else really cares about. I take some story about one of the Khans over some story of... some random guy in a tower, whose most distinguishing feature is that he met Tamiyo...

Yeah I figured they'd probably be that. I think I'll ignore the URs until some Ugin/Sarkhan info shows up on the Wiki (prob around the second and third sets since this one is introducing the plane overall). Not a big fan of Tarkir overall.

I didn't, but sorry you assumed I thought it would, or that I'm only entitled to share my opinions if it did. That's what happens when people take it upon themselves to micromanage what someone else can say. Mind ur b

And thats no excuse for being rude. Wanna hear what I do when I don't care for a UR story? I just wait for next weeks or write down a constructive criticism of why I don't like said story. And while everyone has their option it very childish just to come on and say that you don't care about any of the Tarkir UR without the Ugin/Eldrazi/Sorin/Sarkhan related stuff. Honestly it seems like all your recent posts are all just bashing on how much you dislike Tarkir, we all get it by now you don't like Tarkir. If you really don't like this set maybe you should take a break from magic for the next year and stop posting negative unconstructive posts.

Jenrik, if you don't have anything worthwhile to add to the conversation, having already expressed your opinion that this plane doesn't interest you, please refrain from responding to others who have differing opinions than yours. We don't all have to like the same things, but it feels like you're skirting the line of picking fights here.

You can see the whole China, Iraq (then Persia), parts of Russia, Turkey... everything in Tarkir can be traced down to these and the bordering areas.
Yes, that does make sense; I am sorry about my earlier presumption.

Hey, the fact YOU don't care it does not mean nobody cares. Be a little less self-centric, please.
If we get one or two Ugin-themed articles in the next 3 months, it will be just about normal. You'd better prepare for it.
