I just hope the "doorway" being mentioned isn't a stable time portal.
Hell, I'm still hoping the "time travel story about change" is going to involve Sarkhan bringing things from the past to the present, rather than changing the past. There are just too many questions if he rewrites history.
Anyone want to bet on a Dragonriders of Pern rehash?
In which the dragons/Weyrs mysteriously disappeared, causing a major cultural shift that leaves the people ill-prepared to defend the plane/t from an ominous threat, which is revealed in a 3rd act twist to have been caused by Sarkhan/Lessa going back in time and bringing the dragons/Weyrs forward to the present to fight said threat.

Calling it now: Sarkhan releases Ugin from the hedrons of Zendikar using this portal, but accidentally allows the Eldrazi to travel to Tarkir along with him. In order to prevent the destruction of Tarkir, Sarkhan goes back in time somehow to undo the Eldrazi ever setting foot on Tarkir

The secret to enjoyable Commander games is not winning first, but losing last.
If my post has no tags, then i posted from my phone.
While Sarkhan was a general from Mardu , he met a guy that was in a fronzen river ( in the Temur frontier )then that guy puts a Bearskin( possibly the atual Temur's Khan( but no confirmation).
Sarkhan thinks there is a "Door" that he must "open" to possibly find Ugin.
He have gone away from the Mardu for a while(while not a PW), and have meet with Temur shamans.
Dragons used to attack the "humans"(I think it include orcs, ogres, and other things. but the autor forgot).
Up into the Qal Sisma Mountains I traveled, seeking a call whose words I did not understand. I wandered alone through the snow, sometimes fighting the huge beasts that prowled there, but I did not know what it was I heard.
You know what you seek.
Do I? No, do not speak to the voice. Yet...it seems somehow familiar.
Then one night, under the rainbow curtain, I found a strange thing, like a woven turtle's shell resting on a frozen river. As I approached, a figure rose from the ice and took my own shape! It whispered to me in words that echoed deep within, speaking of the dragons and their might. I reached to touch it, sealing a vow I didn't even realize I had made.
The figure vanished, and I faced a youth seated on the ice, unclothed but for the shell-like headgear covering his face. He rose and draped himself in a bearskin. Then he silently gestured. I followed him into the trees.
There was a cave there, where had gathered a number of others. They regarded me wordlessly from under their hoods until the youth spoke and made motions toward me. Then they all revealed their faces and began a low, murmuring chant. The voice of ages was in it. The voice of...kings.
They remembered the old ones. Although the dragons flew no more, these folk heard the roaring and whispered songs of claws and blood. There was a word. A memory. A name I should know. Do I hear it now?
I spent many moons there among the whisperers, but in the end I could not stay. Talk of memories, echoes of voices: these were not enough to sustain me. I had found a kind of peace, though. Maybe I could carry it with me.
This UR kind of make Sarkhan have a afiliation with Temur. And makes me think we could have something like unearth for Sultai...
For the people saying Ugin could make Spells colorless: Wouldn't it be kind of flavor flaw ? Wasn't Ghostfire and Some Ugin's spells the only ones that could hurt the Eldrazi Titans?

Also Nice this reference to Dragonriders of Pern ( A series i did not knowed) , It is very plaussible that they are going in that parth ( Sarkhan bring Dragons from the past to the future( and soo causing their extinction in Tarkir)) ;
If that is true, why did they give him such an interesting backstory? Why waste all the creative writing on a character who was destined to be killed? Vronos could have been such an interesting character, but now, his life has been cut short before there was any tim to develop him.
~
I think the purpose of Vronos' story was not to build up a character but to stress what Garruk has become. No one would care if Garruk killed a nameless walker because... well, nobody knows him or cares about his story (save for a few). This UR shows you the life of a person. You see his struggles, his triumphs, his hopes and emotions. He's no longer just some masked nobody. He is Vronos of Innistrad. The UR wants you to care about this character. That way, the death has more of an impact. Nobody watches Star Wars and yells "That storm trooper had a family!" because they are just faceless obstacles.
I personally think this (old) UR accomplished its goal. It shows that Garruk does not care who you are or what you came to do. He can and most likely will kill you. And he will enjoy it.
I liked Sarkhan's story as a bridge into Tarkir. I was hoping to hear a bit more about Sarkhan trailing Liliana, but no mention there. I do like Jennifer's stories a lot, but I did not care for the first-person point of view in Sarkhan's article. He didn't seem crazed enough, so I think a third limited or omniscient narrator would have done fine.
I do think there is a general push as of late in young adult literature in general to tell stories from the first person. I really believe that if Harry Potter was published today, the publisher would have asked Rowling to go back and change the point of view.
That aside, the information was good. We got a few recaps to bring us up to speed and we were slowly introduced to Tarkir. We did not get specific cultural details, but enough to introduce us and ease us into the "new" world.
Ugin will clearly play some role. I think it unlikely, but perhaps Bolas placed Ugin in the past in reference to Bolas's comment about placing Ugin somewhere himself. And perhaps that is the door. Or, Ugin allows for some temporal shenanigans in some spirit realm, such as Sarkhan seeing the past of his plane, so perhaps no one actually travels. Only time will tell.

The actual reason behind making ghostfire colourless was to give Red burn decks the ability to kill creatures with protection from red.
That is ridiculous; protection exists for a reason, so cards that ignore it are extremely powerful, perhaps even unfairly so. Also, if red can have ways of ignoring protection, why not every color?

Most colors have ways to ignore protection. White and Black and even Blue have mass removal effects that totally ignore protection, while Red's sweepers deal damage so protection still work against it. Blue can also just counter the protection card, while Black can discard it. Red has to use "damage can't be prevented" effects.
Red also has a story of turning its own things colorless - with black in Ghostly Flame, or in creatures as Ancient Kavu/Raging Spirit. Ghostfire is just a nod to that, just like Blazing Blade Askari and Ghostflame Sliver (remember, it was Time Spiral block so everything was either a throwback, a "what if the color pie was different?" variation, or "this is something we may do in the future" experiment). Notice how three of those names are just variations of "ghost"+"flame/fire"?
Ghostfire is neither cheap nor efficient, since it costs three times as much mana as does lightning bolt.
It's cheap and efficient as far as limited is concerned. Which is a concern.
Let's take a look at Moonglove Extract for how cheap efficient direct damage is allowed to be when it is colorless.
That is ridiculous; protection exists for a reason, so cards that ignore it are extremely powerful, perhaps even unfairly so. Also, if red can have ways of ignoring protection, why not every color?
Yes, I understand about ghostfire and other colors ignoring protection, but I still wish to see a version of it that does not require any colored mana, at all.
About Garruk and Vronos: when Vronos fled from Garruk, how did Garruk know to where Vronos had fled? Vronos could have traveled to any plane in the multiverse (and there are many), yet Garruk somehow knew exactly where to find him. Does Garruk have the ability to magically sense his prey, even across the planes of the multiverse?
I understand that Vronos was given a story to make his death have a greater impact, but, if he had been a different character, I may not have been as upset about it; a planeswalker from Innistrad who also learned to use etherium from Alara was such an awesome idea, and the fact that he was a cleric of Avacyn also meant that he could theoretically spread her teachings across other planes. What are the chances that WotC may introduce another Avacynian cleric planeswalker who can use etherium in the future (because such an idea is far too awesome to waste)?

the fact that he was a cleric of Avacyn also meant that he could theoretically spread her teachings across other planes.
What would the point of that be? Her teachings aren't even teachings, they're fiction meant to enable her function.
She's a cog in a planewide lie meant to empower enchantments to keep things in balance. There's literally nothing in the church's teaching that would benefit other worlds, because they were custom tooled to Innistrad.
Brady told us, a long time back, that her symbol wouldn't even work on another world.
So it occurs to me that we've gotten our first view of Ugin without really noticing (see attached). Fate Reforged has the shadow of a dragon that looks suspiciously like the phantom dragon around Sarkhan in the other image (note the horns being turned up in one image and turned back in another is explained by the pose, with Ugin's head perpendicular or facing down relating to his body, the horns would flip perspective.)
He looks... not friendly. But then, I really wouldn't expect him to.
As for the URW debate, It occurs to me that the third eye in the art for Ghostfire is awfully similar to the third eye represented on some Jeskai clans, and the image depicted could potentially take place on Tarkir. Even the symbol of the Jeskai is the Dragon's Eye.
Edit: I've added his actual artwork, too, stolen from a Rumor Mill thread.
Well, dragons aren't supposed to look "friendly" lol. Ugin being part of the Eldrazi-sealing trio doesn't automatically make him a good guy (i.e: Sorin). For all we know, he could be as big a schemer as Bolas and Niv are. Sentient dragons tend to be greedy, self-centered scumbags.

I'm actually glad. I didn't want him to be Puff the Spirit Dragon. I added an actual picture of him in my last post taken from Fate Reforged. I think he looks pretty cool. I hope he ends up being as interesting as Sorin ended up being to me (I love the idea that the fate of planes matters to Sorin, but he could doesn't care about individuals).
I don't know if I like Ugins character design. That being said, his design is pretty similar to Bolas's, and I never really liked that one either. I know that they are probably trying to make the dragon characters feel more like "characters" or make them more "relatable" that way (the same thing they did to slivers, ugh). I'd rather prefer sentient dragons that look more like "actual" dragons (Intet, the Dreamer for example) to dragons with a humanoid kind of look to them. But in the end, there's no use in complaining. Those are just personal preferences...
I do like it though that they decided to make Bolas and Ugin look similar. That way you're not hit over the head with the "that is the bad guy, this is the good guy" imagery.
What interests me about the Ugin design is the feathery wings (the couatl imagery). This kind of makes you wonder whether Tarkir is Ugin's home and their dragons can have feathery wings (since we haven't seen any Tarkir dragons) or Ugin is from a different plane with feathery winged dragons.
Or maybe Ugin glued the feathers on himself when he visited the bedazzling plane of Lisa Frank.
Another off-topic interesting tidbit is how easy it seems to defect from your clan on Tarkir (easy isn't the correct word, but I'm at a loss...). In the little we know of the plane, we already have two instances of clan defection (Sarkhan from Mardu, Taigam from Jeskai). Hope this doesn't become a trend.

Why not? These factions aren't isolated like the Shards were. They're just groups of people who think alike and an individual's thinking can change. People switched guilds on Ravnica, though even that is a little different as they were structured guilds within a single city, whereas the Tarkir clans are more akin to entire nations with distances between them.
A person who masters the three Jeskai fires has attained enough wisdom to explore the next level of existence and harness the sixth fire: ghostfire. Only a few people have ever learned to control ghostfire, and it is believed they are able transcend natural elements and alter their fundamental nature and existence.
Called it guys. I really hope Ugin is WRU, if only to be a mirror for Bolas.

Additionally, it says that rumors tell of a dragon's soul that rests in a mystical vessel beneath the Cori Mountain Stronghold, which is surrounded by the skeleton of a dragon.
So, since we've got a potential piece of art for Ugin, I think the thing I like best is the sort of cobra-esque hood that he has. It’s an interesting visual motif to distinguish Ugin.
However, the really fun thing about it stretches a little further back, because ostensibly, the first time we saw Ugin was in the short story “How many eyes?”
In a related article from the same era, they talked about Ugin a litltle more, in vague and nonspecific terms (seriously, no new info was there... man I wish I could remember which article it was), but his appearance was represented by the card Reality Acid and behold what visual motif the two share….

He has feathered wings, though, so he is probably good, unlike that evil bat-winged Bolas.
Otherwise, I hope he is a morally gray/evil character associated with White mana.

Nice, great call Barinellos. I found the full art on James Wong's website (I'm also re-upping all the other art for ease of reference). Very interesting, especially since it's from the same timeframe that Ugin was created for Ghostfire. Although I doubt that story will be used in the future, it would be great if Ugin was still an imperious jerk, just not a calculatingly evil one like Bolas.
It's also possible that Ugin's Feathery Winged appearance may have nothing to do with his actual physical appearance. He is a spirit dragon after all, the question is what exact form does that 'spirit' dragon take, and how does his Spark work in that context?
I can see Ugin work as you suggested, with some ability to make your spells colorless. And if we are gonna travel to past, it would be no problem seeing Ugin alive.
