Ok, since we have seen a number of plainswalkers that are close blood relatives, and a couple of natrually 'walking species, it leads me to ask if the spark could be tied to a recessive gene. and if so do you believe a Biomancer of sufficent knowledge and power could potenially create an "artifical" plainswalker?
No. Yawgmoth tried that once and failed. The spark has nothing at all to do with your physical body. It is tied to the soul. I guess I'm assuming the soul is not influenced by genetics, but that seems like a safe bet.
... Who on earth do you think is related to each other?
No planeswalkers who have existed have been blood relatives.
What's more, we have, multiple times, been told that there is NO genetic component to the spark. The spark is tied to the soul and has nothing to do with the physical world at all. There is no organ, there is no genetic predisposition, the spark is a true instance of chance and statistics, nothing more.
Aside from that, what you observe is species such as Cosmic Larva isn't planeswalking. It is planeshifting, bypassing the Blind Eternities altogether.
(Don't even start on the Eldrazi, because the circumstances are vastly different there as well.)
sorry guys my bad I haven't read the artifacts cycle and the friend who got me into magic told me that both urza and mishra were planeswalkers during the brother's war, needless to say my sources were wrong. sorry about that.

Don't worry too much about it.
But Mishra wasn't a planeswalker, just so you know.
There's also the issues of pre-revision materials vs post-revision, but even then, it's a totally different case where neither were.

yup I know now that mishra was never a planeswalker I clicked around the wiki for a day and half and learned about most of the old school stuff I've missed out on although if you apply the thesis of my post to planeshifting and not planeswalking do you think it culd happen?

That's a less clear question because we don't understand how a thing like Cosmic Larva works to begin with. There's nothing there for us to establish a baseline for.
The Eldrazi were incorporeal beings who existed in the blind eternities until they were forced to take shape. We aren't even sure if the brood are capable of leaving since they were created corporeal.
Every other piece of planeshifting either comes from use of natural portals or use of technology.
In essence, you could say that, but you couldn't support or deny it. Which makes it pointless to conjecture further about it.
We can presume that Planeswalkers travel alongside their Gut Flora and it is safe to say that Gut Flora doesn't have a soul. Thus, it would actually depend on whether the fetus has a working nervous system that can perceive the blind eternities and go crazy as a result. Combined with the additional strain of Planeswalking for a pregnant woman. So maybe:
First 3 months: Risk of abortion.
4-6 months: High risk of abortion. Fetus suffers brain damage difficult to repair without magic, and probably dies soon after birth months later if there isn't a telepath around to "heal" the baby's mind.
7-9 months: Almost guaranteed premature birth of a baby with irreversible brain death. Even for the most powerful telepath repairing the mind of the baby would be like trying to glue together the pieces of a base that has been hammered to dust.

It's an interesting question, if the baby is considered as a part of the woman’s body until she gives birth, the spark should protect it because it protects the body from the blind eternities. If the spark does not consider it as such, then I think your description fits. I hope we my gain an answer one day, it's an interesting topic for sure.

I once wrote up a fanmade character whose spark ascended as she went into labor, forcing her to give birth on Grixis pre-Conflux. Her son lived, but she couldn't planeswalk away with him, so they were trapped there together away from the rest of their family. I never even considered the possibility that 'walking would damage the infant, though.

That's actually a very important yet subtle detail to point out. While I'm sure creative really hasn't brought this detail to their attention, it is quite amusing to note that if the gut flora really did die upon planeswalking, the planeswalker in question will be highly susceptible to terrible C. Difficile diarrheal infections and may become deficient in vitamin K.
I think discussing whether or not an unborn baby can planeswalk with it's mother or not strays far to close to abortion arguments than is appropriate here.

S'what I'm here for my good being.
Plainswalk doesn't exist as an ability, it's just a lie. Just like islandhome.
