An interesting question I was pondering, because being a musician, I myself am something of an artist. I began to think what color that would make me most aligned with.
Red is the color of passion, emotion, impulse, and chaos... and according to the MTG Salvation Wiki on red, self-expression is a heavily red quality.
Sure, I consider myself a passionate person who is in touch with his emotions, especially when I create music, but other than that, I don't feel like a very "Red" person. I hate disorder and chaos - I thrive on order, structure, and I don't oppose the idea of a comprehensive, orderly government and I don't endorse anarchy. I definitely do not consider myself a person who acts on impulse. I like to strategize and plan my actions. (Perhaps this is why I haven't found a really good Red deck I enjoy yet... :p)
So, is art and are artists exclusively Red? Or are things like art and music appreciated by all color ideologies, except that each color finds value in different forms of art?
Artistic expression has a home in all colors, I think.
Music is often shown in green, and architecture is often showcased in white sources.
Black can find use for all forms of art that are self-oriented: art to praise the powerful, art for hedonistic pleasure, art for egoism
Even blue, while it has less use for 'frivolous' things like arts than some colors would find appreciation in the mathematical side of music, in technical mastery and expression of other arts, and (in classic fantasy setting style) the mind-control power of music and other art
Well the art for Force of Will was originally for a red card so I guess so
I guess you could look at the color pie in terms of styles though. I don't think art is 100% creative madness, there are varying degrees of structure and outside influences that weigh in.

The arts, taken as themselves, are red. Creation of something through passion and emotion is red. But the arts are used by all colours, and no one person is entirely red. So while you may not be red, you have a part that's red in you.
I felt like music should be Blue and expected quick search to give me Blue results, but it shows that music related names are mostly in Red and Green. Musician is blue, but it's an old card, so is not a good example.
All the arts can be approached from a creative (red) and intellectual (blue) standpoint. Music can be seen as timing and rhythm, or you can just play. Writing can be broken down into tropes and genres, or you can just type. However, most people connect with art on a creative level, which is why art remains red.
I think it's important to note that red only is the home for passionate, impulsive art.
Not every artist expresses their deepest desires and emotions with their art. Some simply paint what they think is beautiful (might be green), others try to honor some spiritual conepts (white), yet others simply do it for a living, because they are talented in that. (Is doing something for a living enough to call it black?) And some people are even studying the intricate mechanics of art to create masterpieces. (Blue)
Art isn't all just about passion, lust and desires. And as such it has its home in all five colours.
Blue probably has the most utilitarian take on art, but just because something is functional doesn't mean it can't be art. Jhoria's Toolbox, for example, was a useful helper, but it was also a beautiful sculpture.
Red is the most passionate, emotional color, so the feverish rush of creation would be a red process, though we don't have many examples on the cards of red's artistic side.
Green has a history of music (Elvish Lyrist and Elvish Bard immediately come to mind), but also focuses on the visual arts as well. The elves of Lorwyn cultivated the forests, making them aesthetically pleasing. They prized beauty above all, even going as far as to name the castes of their society based on beauty.

You have it exactly correct. You have to keep in mind too that Art is just a form of expression and that can be interpreted many many different ways. I wouldn't at all think that none of the colors or one of the colors was solely emotionless.

White is known for angel songs and holy hymns (though black has its own hymns), but white also uses enchantment and artiface to create beautiful sculptures. The angels of Serra's realm sang from the Song of All, a massive hymn of devotion and faith.
