Bolas wasn't from Dominaria. It was confirmed that Bolas took part in the first planeswalker duel on Dominaria. And, if Bolas himself is to be believed, he was old before Dominaria was created.
I thought he was one of the Elder Dragons on Dominaria?
yah, i don't remember reading anywhere saying he wasn't a dominarian. afterall, he's an elder dragon(dominaria), he was in that big dragon war(dominaria).

The Elder Dragon War spanned more than one plane. We don't actually know where the Dragons came from.
From what I know of him, he seems to be Neutral evil, but not very. He's rather like Spike from the end Season 2 of Buffy. I'm sure that, if the Eldrazzi becoming free wasn't such a huge issue, he'd seem to be much further along on the evil scale. But, like the vast majority of Evil characters in Wizards IP and Fantasy as a whole, if you're not one of the ones actively summoning the OldGodPhaerimmExpy, you're going to be working to stop them, no matter you're alignment. It's hard to rule a world that's been destroyed.
Edit: Black is the color of selfishness, which tends to put people on the Evil scale of things. But, just because your alignment is Evil it doesn't make you the bad guy. Stop confusing evil with Antagonist. We've seen plenty of Knight Templar Lawful Good characters who are horrible villains. Just because you're alignment is 'good' it doesn't make you in the right in a situation.

Cyme we inne frið, fram the grip of deaþ to lif inne ðis smylte land.
why does B have to be evil huh frigin colorist! j/k , all kidding aside seriously just because he has B in his mana cost doesnt make him evil. having black means hes selfish and out for number one no matter what the cost
I have a feeling he'll be a good guy. The fact that the Eldrazi are colorless seems to me to indicate that creative is moving away from "This color is evil" (As seen with Phyrexia). In order to further seperate black from being the central villian color, i'm going to assume that wotc is going to make a black hero to counteract this.
just as some poeple have been saying, all colors can be evil, just as all of them can be good(even if we rarely see b as good). just depends on how the mana is used.
I'm still waiting for the day we get a mono-green villain. We were so close with Nissa (of course she is probably black-green)
Nissa really isn't what you would consider a villain either. sHe is more of an anit-hero the way she is basically a mortal, black-green version of Freyalise.
we've seen good and bad characters of w, u, and r
we've only seen good characters in g
we've only seen bad characters in b (we aren't sure about sorin-the point of this thread)

Funny thing is that a mono green villain is easy to concept. Many M:tG cards hints at the existence of druids that are basically against any form of civilization, for example. But writing them in an interesting way is probably tricky.

I rolled 5 D6's and got 3 fours. They must have changed the odds of getting a 4!
Toshiro Umezawa is a perfect example of a reluctant hero. He never wanted to save the world; he didn't do anything out of the goodness of his heart. But he did what was necessary, and stood his ground against the forces that tried to manipulate him. He did what was best for himself in the position he was in, and Kamigawa benefited as a result.
Toshi is an individualist and is frequently a selfish bastard, but he is still a hero, and fits a common archetype in heroic fiction.
ok, ok. i give up my point, but still, i'm talking about mono colors.
And Toshi was a mono-black scalliwag, but still a hero. He ended up saving a lot more lives than his own over the course of his story. I mean he could have let people die, but chose to help them instead too. Not just that he helped end the kami war.
@Luminum: Yeah, he plays the rouge stereotype as well.

If anything post-invasion, blue seems to be the color of evil(Laquatus, Memnarch, Mochi, Szadek, Momir Vig, Augustine, Oona, Bolas).
Blue is just as evil as black i think, because blue doesn't work on a small scale, it works on a grand scale. So while i think there are more evil people in black, i think blue takes the cake as spreading the most evil.
I'll concur that i think Sorin will be like Toshi, selfish but will do the right thingh when its neccesary.
Don't forget about Jarad from Ravnica, he was a great hero.
I think Sorin has his own cruel intentions with the Eldrazi. It is hard to tell his true motives as of yet. Is he evil? Yes. Does he have some sense of honor and nobility? More than likely.

Hmm, wonder if there was a Elder Human War, Elder Merfolk War, and Elder Fungus War to explain why those creatures appear everywhere too ...

Alright, if Toshi is too unconventionally good for you, then his descendant Tetsuo is traditionally good.
He is completely wrapped up in honor and doing the right thing.

People don't get more straightlaced than Tetsuo.
