That's wayyyyy too predictable. I have to guess Michiko. Toshi's on planeswalker levels already without actually being one; making him a planeswalker would put him up to god levels.
However, I have to say that it couldn't be anyone but Toshi or Michiko.

I'm actually hoping that there isn't a Planeswalker in this set. That's been getting old. Although, if I had to guess, it would probably be Michiko.
These words I can sign with my name too. I have to admit that I HOPE :banghead:that nobody ascends this time, but if somebody has to, I guess also Michiko. Toshi is powerful enough, and seeing Hidestugu ascend...yuck:slant:

Well, maybe it will happen. Perhaps the sudden surge of Planeswalkers leads up to another huge story twist for Magic. However, I guess maybe Planeswalkers are too common. Most Magic story arcs involve Planeswalkers anyway.
Another thought, it always seems to be the unassuming characters that get Planeswalker status. The main characters, who usually achieve near-planeswalker like abilities, never quite reach Planeswalker status. It's the periphery characters that get it (not Gerrard, but Karn; not Kamahl, but Jeska; not Glissa, but Slobad.)
I don't know that Pearl-Ear's a big enough character... my first guess would be Toshi or Michiko like everyone else, but if I had to guess one of the minor characters I'd go with Sharp-Ear... He's still rather mysterious and there's a lot about his character we don't know. (His real name, for instance.)
My first guess is that a Moonfolk would become the 'walker because of the moonfolks mysteriousness. I thought about Konda, but because of his tretchery, I doubt he would become one...
planeswalkers usually ascend because of some sort of giant magical blast - karn and the legacy weapon, jeska and the mirari sword, slobad and the giant soul-power thingy. my guess will be that when michiko bites the dust with that which was taken (as she surely will) that whoever ends up nearby will - you guessed it! - ascend. the question is, who? toshi would be funny but not really practical, with the blessings from the black myojin and all he's a de facto planeswalker already. that leaves a couple of other important, but not promising, folks. if hidetsugu got it, the whole plane would go down in burning crimson chaos...what a way to wrap a block up, hmmm? "okay kids, let's obliterate kamigawa so we don't have to worry about any loose ends in this story line!"
What about Hisoka? He has the entire knowledge thing going on, which all previous planetswalkers seem to have.
The other thing i'm looking at is I think wizards is setting up for planeswalkers of all 5 colours, and then some huge epic storyline, which means that you would need a black-flavoured planeswalker in there somewhere.
Well I think It will Be michiko for this reason alone: The spark will most likely awaken when the future 'walker does something drastic, Michiko sounds like one who would sacrifice herself for the Kamigawa, spark could come from that.
Maybe we will get multiple planeswalkers coming out of Kamigawa. If That Which Was Taken is destroyed, which I believe it will be, that could trigger a massive energy blast that could concievably result in several planeswalkers being born, most likely Michiko AND Konda. I could see a new planeswalker rivalry being born, since Michiko will eventually have to confront her own father, and the portents that Toshi saw would probably place Konda close enough to be affected by the blast (unless he is indestructible already, which means the energy released would not kill him)
Also, to raise another point, I am unsure of the status of the spirits in Kamigawa. Could several of them be potent enough to be considered planeswalkers already? I know there is no solid evidence to support this, but they have the ability to bring mortals to distant realms (Black Myojin bring Toshi to her realm for instance) and do display some god-like powers (the fat Moon Kami).
You know, it could be someone like Kiku who ascends to planeswalker status. Yes, O-Kagachi is powerful enough to be planeswalker strength. The night myojin might be but the fat moon kami is only an aspect of the greater moon kami.

I would say sharp-ear. One, because he's a trickster, and two, because he doesn't have a high-ranking post like all the others. Remember Slobad. Nobody expected that. That Hisoka joke was cool, the new head and all. His apearance in the novel was very short for a legend. And Nagao was lucky. A bow trough the middle of your chest and live, that's some kind of luck.
I'm thinking Michiko...probably not Toshi...
But who else could it be? Hrmm, I doubt either of them, but who else?
Everyone else is too minor...Hrmm...hemmm...Michiko I guess, maybe Sharp-Ear or Konda...
I can't wait for SoK...

In my opinion It would be nice to see Konda going planeswalkin'. He already has a conection with great power. Besides we already got good guys 'walkin, Karn and Jeska being the last 2. I vote for Konda to replace Tevesh Szat.

By the way what would be the deal with getting new walkers? As I recall the Invasion took out a lot of them, so these guys can be the ones to take the fight in case Yawgmoth returns. You can't keep an evil so big quiet for long, so the more 'walkers around the more fun we have when Wizards decide to do something with them.

Well...it seems that they have been leaning on going with a new story arc ever since Invasion...which would climax at some time in the future. As of yet, we cannot discount any of the new sets as somehow being not tied into this new plot arc...Kamigawa may end that streak (going on three blocks since Odyssey with the Mirari, continued into Onslaught, and the effects felt from the Miraria in Mirrodin) but the theme is the same...
lusted after artifact draws attention from many powerful figures...
And they could wind up with another Invasion block to end said arc once and for all...with all the planeswalkers they have accumulated dying/ending their story in some spectacular way.
I am betting on Michiko because I think Toshi will die to prove that is not as invincible as he seems. It would be awesome and possible for Hidetsugu to ascend.I think Toshi will have a child with Michiko (Tetsuo) so that the Umezawa coincidence is explained.

The child wouldn't be Tetsuo. In Champions (somewhere near the beginning), they mentioned that Toshi was the "grandson of a famous samurai." Obviously, that grandfather was Tetsuo.
This raises a point, though: was the place of Legends ever defined? Is it possible that we could see the ghosts or references of chars from Legends in SOK? Especially since it appears the laws of death have changed.

In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police who investigate the crimes; and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.
Michiko does become somewhat of a god, becoming one with the Taken One to take over the role of guardian between the spirit and physical worlds (they killed O-Kagachi, the former guardian). Also, Hidetsugu fused/took over the rule of All-Consuming Oni of Chaos. And the Myojin of Night's Reach has the ability to planeswalk, at least for awhile. So she can be classified as a planeswalker I think.
For some reason I'm thinking Toshi. Don't know why.
However, I have to say that it couldn't be anyone but Toshi or Michiko.
