Place bfz.xml in the customsets folder.
Your third instruction says to put bfz.xml into customsets. Did you mean ogw.xml instead because it isn't working?
Is this a legitimate question?
Nowhere else in my post does it mention a bfz.xml. Clearly it meant OGW.xml.
Believe it or not, some people are not that experienced with Cockatrice files, so yeah, I can see this person having a legitimate struggle with this. May seem silly to you, but it's definitely not worth you getting so fussy about it.

I am not fussy, I am naturally abrasive by virtue of appreciating the art of being a straight forward person. The reality is that the instructions are in the OP, and if you are able to follow that, you are going to run into 1 of 3 situations by the time you get to the step that has the spelling error (almost every time):
You have the actual bfz.xml file because you have done this before.
You clearly will recognize this as a spelling error based on your previous understanding of how this process works.
You will not have a bfz.xml file, but were able to access a hidden windows folder.
You should have basic trouble shooting skills that allow you to simply put in the newly downloaded ogw.xml file, and the patch works.
You cannot find your hidden folder.
Your issue is now going to be confusion about something other than whether or not the file is misnamed.
I am not trying to be a dick, I am trying to be straight forward about the issue. If my intent was to be a dick, I simply would not have done all this work just to be an ******** to someone. I assure you, as most frequent visitors to MTGSalvation will as well, I do not need to put in much effort to be a dick to someone.
I actually have a real problem, not sure if I need to reinstall Cockatrice or what, but... I didn't have a customsets folder in the specified location (or anywhere) but my old cards always worked just fine. I tried putting the OGW file in every folder imaginable within Cockatrice, then searched for an example card to test it (in this case, Kozilek). But it hasn't been showing up. I think I have one singular file with every card worked into it, which is named cards.xml... Would it be possible for me to copy and paste the OGW info into the other one? I don't really have any experience with xml files, and I only got Cockatrice after BfZ came out.
Not sure about the PC version, but on the Mac there is a menu option called "Open custom sets folder" in the "Card Database" menu, so there should be something similar for PC too. this will open up the right place to put the .xml file.

Unfortunately, my version doesn't have that. Under the Card Database dropdown, I have Edit Sets (which contains nothing useful, not even able to change anything in it), Edit Tokens, Clear Search, and Show Card Text Only.
The wiki page - HERE mentions you need to be in the deck editor pane when you select the menu option, so maybe there are different options when you are in different panes.
Hope that helps.

If your cockatrice doesn't have this menu item, you should update it.
