For the past couple of years I've been working on an MtG app in my spare time, and I am finally putting it up for sale.
The app is called "ScryGlass". It costs $3.99 and is an Android app that uses the phone's camera to scan, inventory, and price out Magic cards. It's meant to take a lot of the tedium out of inventorying cards, or sorting through them to find out which ones are worth selling.
This is the first public release, and there are a number of known issues, but the app has been useful enough for users in closed-beta that I didn't want to delay the release any longer. I'm actively working on the app, and am actively working on implementing bug fixes and feature suggestions.
If you have comments, questions, issues, or suggestions, I would love to hear about them.
I have choose to support you and try it. I am a shop owner , lets see if i can put that to good use. Ill keep you updated with issue or problem or idea.

Thanks for the support! This first version of the app has focused on players, but I know I have a number of shops using the app, and I'm interested in seeing how the app can be most useful to you as well.
As you try out the app, I'm very interested to hear your feedback about what works, and what changes could make things better for you.
Thanks!

My app: ScryGlass - Use your Android camera to rapidly scan, inventory, and price MtG cards
Very nice app.
Any plans on adding mcm as a pricing option?
Thanks!
MCM pricing is in the works -- I've started on it and have my API keys to their site, but I've not hooked up all of the internal plumbing yet to actually pull the prices from their site.
Definitely on my TODO list.

I'm trying the app out, it's great for what I need. Fastest entry I could find and it really is easy. I am having a problem with it sees the card but doesn't populate a list. Thanks for the hard work.
I am having a problem with it sees the card but doesn't populate a list. Thanks for the hard work.
I've heard intermittent reports of this happening over the past month or two, but it's been really difficult to track down.
For right now, the easiest workaround is to close the app entirely (close it from the "recently used applications" list), and then re-start the app. This should allow it to add scanned cards to the list.
If the workaround doesn't fix things, or if it happens again, please let me know. I'm sorry for the trouble -- I'm still trying to track the source of that problem down.
Thanks for the kind words, and the feedback -- I very much appreciate it!

Any requirements (for minimum camera megapixels, etc) outside of android 4.1?
The app is very forgiving and generally runs surprisingly well on older hardware. As far as camera resolution, it doesn't need much. 0.6 megapixels or so is probably the lower boundary there, but it could probably still manage to operate at half of that,
With hardware that old, usually the Android OS version would disqualify the app first.
How old is your Android hardware? If you purchase the app and it doesn't run, let me know and I'll either fix it or make sure you get a full refund.
Thanks

Saw this app in action today. And I want it. But I am an apple user.
Aaah, sorry. I'm focusing purely on the Android app at the moment. There are iOS scanners available (such as MTG Augmented Reader), but I can't speak to their list export capabilities.

My app: ScryGlass - Use your Android camera to rapidly scan, inventory, and price MtG cards
I just bought this app and am running it on my Samsung Galaxy S4 and it runs great. I'm obviously a few generations behind on my old Galaxy phone, but I've had little problem with the app.
A couple issues I've had since I started downloading it:
-After scanning for a while (I'm talking a very long list of cards), it will sometimes get to a point where I can scan cards but they then not show up in the list or reflect the addition in the price in the GUI. When this happens, if I export the list to e-mail, all the cards I've scanned in that aren't showing in the app list will show up on the exported list with the updated price.
-When this happens, sometimes closing the app and re-opening will help. Other times, when opening the app I get a cacophony of noises, like the sounds from scanning cards in firing off rapidly/overlapping. When it does this, if I try to scan a card it does the noise thing again and won't populate it in the list.
Suggestions
I just have a couple suggested features, and I wouldn't be surprised if they're on a ToDo list. The first is:
1. The ability to mark a card as foil and have that reflected in the price.
2. Ability to mark it as foreign. I can only imagine how much extra work it'd take to have it automatically recognize every language Magic is printed in, so really a way to tag it as the proper language for exporting would really suffice.
3. Ability to scan in multiple of the same card. I don't know how doable it would be, but if I could stack, say, 4x Path to Exile by having them stacked in a column with the name out and the front card clear, that'd be amazing. This ties in to my 4th suggestion/request
4. Ability to save decks/export as deck lists. It's a huge pain in the ass to type deck lists into mobile phone apps. If I could scan in decks and save deck lists to export already formatted, that would be amazing for many reasons. It'd be especially amazing for limited players who want to record their decks who have a loooot of cards to put in their recaps to post in our limited forums here.

I have an older Droid 4 (2012 hardware, I believe) as my backup phone in case of loss or damage to my primary phone, figured I would give the app a swing since I need to take stock and formally track what I have as the collection is getting large. I scanned all the cards from my most recent draft deck with very little effort and in very little time. Great app. I will be using it for scanning in and capturing my collection and exporting into excel / deck box - will post again once I have delved into this a bit more. Thanks!
Thank you VERY much for the bug reports and the suggestions for improvement! That sort of feedback is super valuable to me, and I really appreciate it.
The cards-not-adding-to-list bug is a very odd one, and I haven't tracked down what causes this one yet. However, I also haven't seen it be caused by scanning in a ton of cards -- that's a very odd thing to me, and I'll keep trying to track this one down. Figuring out how I can reliably reproduce this error so I can see what causes it will be one of the first steps towards fixing it.
The "cacophony of noises" isn't serious, but it is certainly annoying -- especially for very large lists of cards, and I need to disable this. A side effect of this is that the app also "dings" when prices are loaded in the "show other editions" window, and I need to disable those pinging noises for both of those situations.
Regarding your suggestions, those are fantastic. Manually marking cards as foil is the #1 most requested feature of the app right now (outside of iOS support) and I should be adding it soon. Same with marking as other languages and rapidly marking the quantity of the card.
As far as your #4 suggestion -- is that to save something like the MTGSalvation deck list format? And to separate out creatures / spells / lands / sideboard / etc? I can think about that sort of sorting, sure.
Overall, thank you very much for the feedback and suggestions -- please let me know if you see more information regarding the "cards not adding" bug or anything else.
Much appreciated!

Thanks for the response! Good luck with tracking down the bug. I haven't had any news to report in that regard.
Regarding exporting a decklist: Yes, essentially export it like an MTGS deck format. So it could export the scanned cards into a list categorized by Lands, Creatures, Instants, Sorceries, Enchantments, Artifacts and Planeswalkers, and a Sideboard tag that just throws all cards marked as sideboard into a sideboard category. This would be important for limited pools so if you want to export a list of your draft deck but want to include the rest of your card pool you didn't use, you could just tag the unused cards as sieboard. If we could save it in the app, or be able to import that list into ScryGlass later that could be invaluable for checking the value of a deck as prices fluctuate weekly, too.
Very welcome for the report/feedback - glad to help! And thank you for considering the feature feedback/request. Having a lot of fun with the app, so looking forward to whatever may come!
I'm receiving an error on my device when attempting to start up ScryGlass.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Light, model SGH-T399, running Android 4.2.2 JDQ39.T399UVUAPA1. My phone has a camera... i just don't know what it means by "locked". Any ideas?
