Scenario: Player A has Grafdigger's Cage on the battlefield. Player B casts Collected Company and it resolves. Player B then chooses a creature with converted manacost 3 or less (henceforth Creature) and puts the remainder on the bottom of their library.
Because Grafdigger's Cage prevents Creature from entering the battlefield from the library and Collected Company specifies "put the rest", where does Creature go? Top or bottom of library?
You cannot legally choose a creature to put on the battlefield because of the Cage. So to choose a creature with converted mana cost 3 or less to put on the battlefield is an illegal action.
Casting CoCo with a Cage on the field just means you look at your top 6 and put them on the bottom in any order.
Since Grafdigger's Cage forbids the cards from entering the battlefield, they all get put on the bottom of the library. Note that Collected Company does not ask a player to choose up to two creatures, then put those onto the battlefield. Instead it asks the caster to put those onto the bettlefield, and the rest (i.e. all cards not put onto the battlefield) under its owner's library.
Ergo: The stated sequence of action is not possible, since player B never gets to choose any creature. Instead he may look at the top 6 cards, then put them on the bottom in any order.
