I am fairly new to Magic and I've been wondering for a while now.
I tried to look it up but I can't really find an answer.
What my problem is:
"Double strike" consists of "First strike" and regular combat damage, right? or is "Double strike" a whole other "ability". Or does "Double strike" mean: You have "First strike" AND regular combat.
Because if I would be able to remove the First strike ability, would this also work on the first combat round on Double Strike?
I just want this thought to be cleared once and for all.
Double strike functions like "first strike and normal" but isn't First strike and abilities that work on first strike have no effect on double strike. Double strike is its own ability.

The second one. Double Strike is its own ability, one that is merely similar to First Strike - both abilities change the way the Combat Phase works and how the creature deals damage during it.
Both abilities cause an extra Combat Damage Step to be created during combat. Creatures with First Strike deal damage on the first step. Creatures with Double Strike deal damage on both steps. Creatures without either ability deal damage on the second step.

To use specific examples: If you control Archetype of Courage and your opponent controls a creature with double strike, Archetype's ability doesn't affect it. It still has double strike because double strike isn't first strike.

It just doesn't work like that at all.
Thank you
