Does Siege Dragon the 2 damage assigned to each non flying creature occur before attack damage? For instance, target creature is 5/6 without flying. Will Siege Dragon kill that creature?
---------------------
EDIT: Misspoke regarding target creature. Was thinking of it as a defending creature, but, fingers got ahead of my brain!
The 2 damage is caused by the ability which triggers at the time the Dragon attacks, so this damage (assuming it resolves) is assigned before blockers are declared. Also, since it applies to creatures without flying, the guy wouldn't be able to block your flying Dragon.
Whenever Siege Dragon is declared as an attacker, its ability triggers and deals 2 damage to each creature without flying the defending player controls (if no wall are in play). Note however, this is before blockers are declared. Therefore, they still have the option to block or not with their 5/6 with 2 damage already dealt to it. Plus, the creature in question would have to have reach to be able to block Siege Dragon, if it took 2 damage for not having flying.
Remember the combat phase goes:
1) Beginning of Combat Step
2) Declare Attackers Step - Any abilities that say something like "Whenever x attacks" trigger here.
3) Declare Blockers Step - Any abilities that say something like "Whenever x becomes blocked or blocks"
4) Combat Damage Step
5) End of Combat Step
and both players are able to use activated abilities and instants at the end of each of the steps.
Okay, going from your other thread there seems to be something of an issue here regarding your understanding of combat. I suggest reading the basic rulebook's section on combat (pp. 8-9).
Beginning of Combat - Anything that triggers at the beginning of combat happens here. This is the last opportunity for anyone to make plays before attackers are declared.
Declare Attackers - The attacking player declares which creatures are attacking, and which players or planeswalkers they are attacking (creatures cannot attack other creatures). Anything that triggers whenever a creature attacks happens here.
Declare Blockers - The defending player declares which creatures are blocking the attackers that are coming after him/her or his/her planeswalkers.
Combat Damage - Combat damage to creatures, players, and planeswalkers is assigned and dealt. This may cause some creatures to die, or a player to lose.
End of Combat - Any "until end of combat" or "this combat" effects wear off.
Siege Dragon's ability deals damage when you declare it as an attacker. The Dragon can't attack a creature, and because the creature in your example can't block the Dragon, nothing else happens to that creature.

Okay, the fog is lifting... So, basically this 2 damage is a bonus to hit non flying creatures that are peripheral to the actual attack. Collateral damage, as it were. So, the benefit is that if you are attacking you will knock out your opponents low toughness creatures and/or weaken them for the simultaneous attack of one of your other creatures.

The main thing to know is that you don't attack creatures; you attack your opponent (and maybe a planeswalker).
Thank you. Yeah, I'm a bit hazy on the particulars. And yes, I keep forgetting that we attack the opponent & not the creature except when I'm actually playing. Bizarre huh? Will definitely read the link!
