Could someone direct me to where in the rules it says that you cannot arbitrarily tap a creature? I've seen post where people say that you can only tap a creature because of its tapping ability, as a result of being tapped by another effect or in attacking. I'm just curious to where in the rules this is explained?

In general you can only take a game action if a rule or card tells you to. This isn't explicitly explained in the rules because they only tell you what you can do, not what you can't.
Ok. Now where does it say that in the rules? I'm looking for an exact location. If it doesn't say it in the rules, how can it be taken as a rule? I mean, if I choose to tap my creatures and not attack with them I should be able to do so. They are my creatures. I tell them what to do.

The rules are permissive. If they don't say you can do something, then you can't do it.
With 207 pages of rules and counting I think they should be able to be specific. I mean tapping as a function is specific with a specific consequences. I mean I can tap a land and not use the mana for no reason and now with the new rules, without any consequence. I don't see how a creature or why a creature should be any different in that regard.

No rule says you can't randomly discard cards from your hand whenever you want, and they're your cards, so maybe you should be able to do what you want with them. But that would have huge implications for cards with Madness or when playing against Black Vise and similar. And, of course, there's no rule stating that you can't start the game with a 20/20 unblockable creature.

Tapping for mana is a specific ability that lands have. Tapping for no reason is not an ability that creatures have. It's that simple.

The land has an ability with a cost of tapping the land. Tapping the land is a cost to activate the ability. When tapping a land for mana, something in the game allows you to do so. If the land didn't have the ability, you wouldn't be able to tap it.
Tapping a land for mana and spending that mana on something are two different things. One makes the other possible, but it doesn't mean that both have to occur for gameplay to be legal.

No rule says you can't just declare that you win the game and have it be true. Look through the rulebook, you won't find anything forbidding it, so just declare that you win! With split second so your opponent can't declare a win in response!
Or, go with the people who are telling you that truth: the Magic's rules are concerned with specifying what's permitted, not what's forbidden, and that unless a rule permits you to do something you can't do it.
Just to confirm something that was touched on, you can tap a land for mana having nothing to do with said mana at the time? I'm talking specifically about tapping a Forbidden Orchard for mana in order to give your opponent a spirit token, thus drawing a card from the active Beck // Call you played already?

Yeah, you can do that whenever you have priority. There are normally no restrictions on activating mana abilities, and un-used mana just goes away at the end of steps and phases.
Ok, so where does it state that "The rules are permissive. If they don't say you can do something, then you can't do it." Or something there abouts? I'm just looking for a source guys.

That is a property of literally every game in the world. All game rules are written permissively. You won't find an explicit Chess rule that says "You can't put three extra queens on the board". You won't find an explicit Football rule that says "You can't just declare that you've scored 15 goals". Such statements are simply not necessary; permissive is the default for all rules systems.
Thank you Argus Panoptes. I didn't see your citation.
