So say I have a creature that is 4/4 and my friend has a creature that is 2/4 and say I attack him. Could he choose to take the damage to himself? That doesn't seem fair to me seeing he can just drain me. If I attack can I choose whether I want to attack him or the creature? Thanks
When you declare attackers, you're always choosing to attack either a planeswalker or a player. You can't attack creatures directly. Your opponent decides which creatures to block with, not you.
Ok so what you are saying is I can't choose a certain creature to attack. And also if he wants he can choose to use said creature to block or just take the damage to himself
Yes. You don't attack creatures, you attack players and planeswalkers and the defending player can choose to block with their creatures if they want. So you attack your opponent with the 4/4. They can choose whether or not to block with the 2/4 or not. If they don't, then they'll take 4 damage. If they choose to block, then they'll deal damage to each other (and their 2/4 will die).
