I want to just verify that I'm understanding the way Zirilan of the Claw works properly: Zirilan of the Claw
, Search your library for a Dragon permanent card and put that card onto the battlefield. Then shuffle your library. That Dragon gains haste until end of turn. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step.
This ability will only trigger once at the beginning of the next end step (of either player), and only if the creature is still in play (having not been removed/returned from elsewhere) correct?
For example:
Scenario 1) My end of turn, Zirilian's End Step trigger goes on the stack (Say I have Vampiric Dragon, because he has sleeves). In response, I active my Sundial of the Infinite. The turn ends, and Zirilan's ability does not trigger again for Vampiric Dragon on next end of turn, because it has already triggered the first time.
Scenario 2) My end of turn, Zirilian's End Step trigger occurs (Say I have Zodiac Dragon, because I'm made of money in this hypothetical scenario). In addition, my Conjurer's Closet trigger occurs. I choose to place Zirilan's trigger on the stack, then Conjurer's Closet trigger on the stack targeting my Zodiac Dragon. My opponent tapped out to Galvanic Blast my Zodiac Rooster so he does not respond to the trigger. Zodiac Dragon is exiled from Conjurer's Closet trigger, then returned to the battlefield. Zirilan's trigger is countered because the original target is no longer on the battlefield.
Yes these are correct. The only other thing to keep in mind is that the trigger will happen whenever the next end step occurs do you can't get around it by ending the turn before the end step.

The ability will trigger only once, at the beginning of the next end step, correct. But it will trigger regardless of whether or not that dragon is still on the battlefield. The exile trigger is not an ability given to that dragon (note the lack of the wording "that dragon gains 'exile me in end step'"); rather, it is simply a delayed triggered ability created by the resolution of Zirilan's activated ability. But of course, if that dragon is no longer on the battlefield, the trigger will do nothing.

The delayed trigger is not countered; spells and abilities are only countered by the rules (aka they "fizzle") if all their targets have become illegal on resolution. Since the exile trigger does not target anything (it does not use the word "target"), it will never run into this situation, so it will no fizzle. But, as explained above, it will simply not do anything, because the dragon it's looking for does not exist anymore (because exiling and returning it causes it to become a completely object).

Yes! As it would occur on "Next" end step, which includes my opponent's end step!
Of course, if they also had sundial of the infinite to help me get around it...

I'm understanding this correctly, aye?
