Quick question to confirm something, but can a card be used that has a an invalid mana symbol that is only in the not shown reminder text? In this case, a mono-black card with Extort (with no reminder text) being used in a Black-Blue deck.
Pretty sure you cant but just making sure. Thanks!
I was confusing the rule about basic lands, which actually do have mana symbols in their rule text even if it isn't printed vs keywords like extort.
While the above is true, extort has both a black and white color identity. The reminder text in this case is a reminder of what the keyword rule is and not an example like for trinisphere.
702.100a Extort is a triggered ability. "Extort" means "Whenever you cast a spell, you may pay {W/B}. If you do, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain life equal to the total life lost this way.
Any card with extort has a white and black color identity.

This is NOT correct. Reminder text, as stated above, does not affect color identity.
If people are sick of reading about stuff just stop taking part. You have 100% control over what you read. Simic Ascendancy isn't going to get banned just because you didn't tell someone to shut up on the internet.

Trinisphere would otherwise only be playable in a B/x EDH otherwise.
