The Frostburn Weird will die, because of these rules:
613.3. Within layer 7, apply effects in a series of sublayers in the order described below.
...
613.3b Layer 7b: Effects that set power and/or toughness to a specific number or value are applied.
613.3c Layer 7c: Effects that modify power and/or toughness (but don't set power and/or toughness to a specific number or value) are applied.
First, the Weird becomes a 0/1 due to Turn. Then it is given +3/-3, making it a 3/-2. Since its toughness is less than zero, it dies the next time state-based actions are performed.
Since there are multiple continuous effects all trying to apply to the same object, we need to look to the layers system.
The effect that sets the power and toughness to 0/1 is applied in layer 7b. Then in layer 7c we apply any effects that modify power and/or toughness (note here that there are actually 3 such effects that are all applied and are all cumulative). The next time SBAs are checked, the game will see a 3/-2 and the creature will be put into its owner's graveyard.
I turn it into an 0/1 Red Weird with no abilities by using a card in standard that I cannot seem to get a card link for.
Will his 0/1 have +3/-3 and die? Or does the pump and the Turn use the same layer and check the last one applied?
Any direction on this would be awesome. Thanks!
