Using Spawning Pit, I produce four 2/2 creatures named "Spawn" of creature type "Spawn". Then, I play Xenograft naming "Eldrazi".
All four of my tokens, at this point, are 2/2 creatures named "Spawn" and of creature type "Eldrazi Spawn". Are they valid targets of sacrifice for Hand of Emrakul because it doesn't explicitly ask for 'cards named"?
Yes, this is totally valid since the tokens from spawning pit have the creature type "Spawn" and Xenograft adds the creature type you choose (Eldrazi). So the tokens creature type is now "Eldrazi Spawn" wich is valid for the Hand of Emrakul alternate cost.
That works. Hand of Emrakul refers to any creature with types of both Eldrazi and Spawn. If it meant to refer only to the creature tokens, it would have to say "a creature named Eldrazi Spawn".
Heck, a Kozilek's Predator with Xenograft naming Spawn would also be an acceptable sacrifice, despite also having the "Drone" creature type.
