I have an Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite in play, and my opponent has a Dungrove Elder in play with three Forests. My opponent then plays Phyrexian Metamorph to copy my Elesh Norn. I know the two Eleshes will die, but does the Dungrove Elder die as well?
No, because, the two Elesh Norns are simultaneously in play and will be put at the same time in the graveyard as well. The Elder will have both the +2/+2 and -2/-2 effects at once and will stay 3/3, then both Elesh Norn will be put in the graveyard as state-based effects at once and everything will be back to normal
In fact, there is no reason at all in this situation that could lead to the Elder,s death, since you are never the one who controls both Elesh Norn at once. in fact, If YOU happen to copy your own Elesh norn, they will give -4/-4 to your opponents creatures before dying.

If there is such a thing as too much power, I have not discovered it!
No, because the norn your opponent brings out will give the elder a +2/+2 bonus. So when state based actions are performed and see that there are 2 legendary creatures with the same name and send them to the graveyard. The dungrove elder's toughness will be 3 at that point, so it would survive.
no, the dungrove is a 1/1 until the norns get out of play, then its back to a 3/3
No it would be 3/3. The OP's norn would be giving their opponents dungrove -2/-2, but when the opponent brings his own norn in, that norn would be giving his dungrove +2/+2. In essence for the short time the norns are on the battlefield together their static abilities will cancel each other out.
