Q: Is there any way to shut down a land's activated abilities with Phyrexian Revoker?
A: No, there's no way, and that's a fact, not a challenge. Phyrexian Revoker's second ability is linked to its first ability, which means that only a name that was chosen as a result of the first ability can be used by the second ability. Even if Phyrexian Revoker somehow gained an ability that allows you to name a land card, the second ability won't use that name.
For the same reason again: the abilities of the Revoker are linked. The named card was not named as a result of Revoker's first ability, so the second ability doesn't care about it.
I already explained in the article why it doesn't work, but here are the rules to back me up:
607.1. An object may have two abilities printed on it such that one of them causes actions to be taken or objects to be affected and the other one directly refers to those actions or objects. If so, these two abilities are linked: the second refers only to actions that were taken or objects that were affected by the first, and not by any other ability.
607.2d If an object has an ability printed on it that causes a player to "choose a [value]" or "name a card" and an ability printed on it that refers to "the chosen [value]," "the last chosen [value]," or "the named card," these abilities are linked. The second ability refers only to a choice made as a result of the first ability.
Per rule 607.2d, the name you chose for Pithing Needle's ability won't be used by Phyrexian Revoker's ability.

Please use card tags when you're asking a question about specific cards: [c]Serra Angel[/c] -> Serra Angel.
Because Phyrexian Revoker has a linked ability. You didn't name a card with the first ability of Phyrexian Revoker so the second ability doesn't do anything.
Also When Vesuvan Doppelganger stops being a Pithing Needle and starts being a Phyrexian Revoker it looses all knowledge of it's former self so it wouldn't remember what card you picked anyway.

I don't think this is true because then it wouldn't matter if the abilities were linked.

That's not true. It's still the same object, so it remembers the choice, but the choice doesn't matter anymore because the object no longer has an ability that can refer to the choice.

I guess this doesn't work but I don't know why.
- Pithing Needle
- March of the Machines
- Phyrexian Revoker
are in play.I cast Vesuvan Doppelganger choosing the animated Pithing Needle, Naming Celestial Colonnade. Next upkeep Vesuvan Doppelganger becomes Phyrexian Revoker.

Correct, it's completely false. That only happens when a card becomes a new object, which tends to be when it changes zones.
Ok, ignore the second half of my post. Still learning after all.
Again though linked abilities.
