The problem here may be a misunderstanding of what mana is and how it works.
Land is not the same thing as mana. Llanowar Elves does exactly the same thing as Forest does. Land produces mana in the same way that a cow produces milk. If you do not drink the milk before the current step of the turn ends, it goes bad and has to be thrown out.
Omnath, Locus of Mana keeps your milk from going bad. If you don't drink it, it will just hang around until you do.
Does that help explain things?

And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real.

When a phase or step ends, you lose all of the mana in your mana pool. For example, if you tap three Forest's and get GGG in your Main Phase, cast a spell for GG and then move to Combat Phase, your mana pool will be emptied and the last G you had will be wasted.
This card keeps this from happening. When your mana pool empties, green mana will not be removed from your pool and you will be able to keep green mana in your pool forever. (Even between the turns.)

Oh now I get it. So say I used Greenweaver Druids ability to add two Green Mana to my mana pool normally that mana would be empited when my turn is over but with Omath of the field those 2 Green Mana's stay on the field. Damn Omath is a good card I'm glad I got him outta a Worldwake booster. TY

You're correct, except the mana empties at every step, not at end of turn. This means if you add GG to your mana pool, spend G on an Arbor Elf, and then attack with something (which means you've left your main phase, gone through the beginning of combat step, and into the declare attackers step), you will have lost the G that was in your manapool so you can't cast a second Arbor Elf during your second main phase.
Mana are not cards or permanents; they are never on the battlefield. Your mana pool is separate from any game zone. When you tap a Forest, you get a green mana in your mana pool that can be spent on spells and abilities. That green mana is not on the battlefield.
Mana in your mana pool is cleared out at the end of each step and phase. Omnath tells the game not to do this clearing out for green mana.

Unless you have Omnath, of course
This tells me you don't quite have it right.
