So yeah while I was playing vintage with my friend...
I had a Tendrils of agony stormed for 5.
He plays Misdirection to use 1 of the Tendrils against me and I was in 2 life, will that resolve first and I'll die?
If he plays his cards well, then yes. Misdirection can target any spell on the stack. Your opponent simply lets the storm trigger resolve (which will create the copies on the stack), and then he plays the misdirection and simply changes the target of the copy that is topmost on the stack.
Correct. After Misdirection resolves and the redirected copy of Tendrils resolves targeting you, you'll lose to SBEs before the other copies of Tendrils that are still on the stack will kill your opponent.

Wouldn't you be at 2 life after the redirected copy resolves? If I'm not mistaken, Misdirection doesn't change the controller of the spell, so the player casting Tendrils would lose 2 life and then gain 2 life before State-Based Actions are checked.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

You are right. The player who cast Tendrils of Agony in this scenario would not lose to his own Misdirectioned copy. That copy would only effectively be "countered".
