Hello I was wonder say I had a Erayo, Soratami Ascendent I just played. Can I go cast a spell (spell number 2 for the turn) resolve it. Cast another spell (spell number 3 for the turn) do not let is resolve yet. And then since I am now tapped out use say Force of Will to counter the 3rd spell of the turn. There by makeing force the 4th spell of the turn and fliping the erayo.
Mainly I am wondering am I abal to counter my own spell.
I think so but am not to sure. I mean when you cast the spell both YOU and your oppoent have to pass before it can resolve right. So you should be abal to counter it before for it resolves right.
Thanks for you help as this will help be figure out what I want the last card in my new deck to be.
Yeah, you can counter your own spell. Counterspells just need a spell on the stack to target [legally]. Barring a counterspell saying 'Spell you don't own/control', you're set to stifle your own plans.
Of course, 99% of the time it's usually not the best course of action [I know we aren't supposed to discuss strategy, but come on ]. You've managed to find an instance in that 1% where countering your own spell would be a good idea. As the 4th spell played, Erayo flips and your opponent cries.

Yes. You can counter your own spell. Most counters don't require that an opponent's spells be the target. Frankly, I don't know if there is one that does.
Ok thanks that is what I though too. But I just wanted to double check. I know that you usally do not want to counter your own spell. It is just that in the deck I am makeing I wanted to make sure I could use the force in this way if I needed too.

Example....Some people tried using Fold Into AEther to counter their own spell, say an Ornithopter just so they could drop a free Darksteel Colossus.
Short answer: Yes
Some people just love Jace a little too much
So thanks for your help.
