I'm busy brewing a reanimator deck and came across an issue: If I were to mutate Nethroi, Apex of Death onto a creature and have an MDFC in my graveyard with a front face that is a creature, can I birng it to the battlefield on either face?
If you return a double-faced card (modal or otherwise) to the battlefield with Nethroi, that card will enter the battlefield with its front face up, not its back face even if that face is a creature (C.R. 711.10).
Remember that in general, you can choose between a modal double-faced card's front or back face only at the moment you're playing or casting that card (C.R. 711.7, 711.8), and not when you're moving that card from one zone to another for any other reason, as in this case. (Note that putting a card onto the battlefield with Nethroi is not the same as "playing" that card [review C.R. 701.14].) See also this submission on Reddit.
No,
Game rules allow a player to cast either side of a MDFC as a spell or play either side as a land, assuming it is otherwise legal.
However, if an effect puts a permanent directly on the battlefield, said permanent enters front face up unless the effect says otherwise.

Specifically, I am wondering about the cards Esika, God of the Tree and Mila, Crafty Companion, and I wanted to know if Nethroi's trigger can bring back Esika as The Prismatic Bridge or Mila as Lukka, Wayward Bonder?
Thanks!
