Hi, can I put Halvar, God of Battle into my deck with the back side Sword of the realms at the front? Don't intend to use Halvar, just want to use the sword.. so is it ok to have the sword always at the front and Halvar as the back when the card is in my deck?
In general, you may insert an opaque sleeve on a double-faced card so that only the back face of that card shows. Nothing in the comprehensive rules or the Magic: The Gathering Tournament Rules disallows this. See also this thread.
Note that under C.R. 711.3, "[p]layers must ensure that double-faced cards in hidden zones are indistinguishable from other cards in the same zone". This can be done in various ways, such as using substitute cards (including what were formerly known as checklist cards) or opaque sleeves. But besides rules that apply if you use substitute cards (C.R. 713), there are no special requirements in the comprehensive rules for representing the back face of double-faced cards in public zones, such as on the stack (C.R. 400.2).
