I saw a video of a interesting interaction with Ninjutsu. He had Ornithopter
Equipped with Mask of Riddles and Unscythe,Killer of Kings had it attack and deal first strike damage proc mask then Ninjutsu in Ninja of deep hours to deal damage and draw a card netting a total of two draws
but someone brought up the question of what if instead having the first strike come from the scythe and had it come from a blanket effect like Valor
Or Archetype of Courage
wouldn’t the combo not work as first strike damage has already been taken into account therefore the Ninja entering with first strike wouldn’t be able to deal it’s damage to net you the second card draw-is this correct?
another person mentioned 510.5 but people still are unsure
510.5
If at least one attacking or blocking creature has first strike (see rule 702.7) or double strike (see rule 702.4) as the combat damage step begins, the only creatures that assign combat damage in that step are those with first strike or double strike. After that step, instead of proceeding to the end of combat step, the phase gets a second combat damage step. The only creatures that assign combat damage in that step are the remaining attackers and blockers that had neither first strike nor double strike as the first combat damage step began, as well as the remaining attackers and blockers that currently have double strike. After that step, the phase proceeds to the end of combat step.
In the second combat damage step, all attacking and blocking creatures that didn't get to assign and deal combat damage in the first combat damage step, as well as any such creatures with double strike, get to do so. So this still works fine.
The damage assignment at the start of the second combat damage step doesn't look at whether they have first strike at that time, just whether they had it at the start of the first combat damage step. Valor or Archetype of Courage won't change things.
702.7b If at least one attacking or blocking creature has first strike or double strike (see rule 702.4) as the combat damage step begins, the only creatures that assign combat damage in that step are those with first strike or double strike.
702.7c Giving first strike to a creature without it after combat damage has already been dealt in the first combat damage step won’t preclude that creature from assigning combat damage in the second combat damage step. Removing first strike from a creature after it has already dealt combat damage in the first combat damage step won’t allow it to also assign combat damage in the second combat damage step (unless the creature has double strike).

If a creature in combat has first strike or double strike, you can activate the ninjutsu ability during the first-strike combat damage step. The Ninja will deal combat damage during the regular combat damage step in this case, even if it has first strike.
