Trying to figure out the wording on Phyrexian Obliterator. Does Anger of the Gods count as a source of damage? My thinking was for example, Wrath of God vs Black Knight, even though Black Knight has protection from white and Wrath of God is a white source Black Knight would still be sent to the graveyard since Wrath of God does not target. Does Phyrexian Obliterator's wording require something to specifically target it?
My opponent has Phyrexian Obliterator in play, I cast Anger of the Gods twice. Do I sacrifice 3 permanents after the first Anger of the Gods resolve? After Phyrexian Obliterator is dealt 3 damage the second time from Anger of the Gods, is Phyrexian Obliterator removed from the game or does it's ability go on the stack and still trigger?
The Obliterator triggers when something is dealing damage to it. Anger of the Gods says that it deals damage, so it triggers the Obliterator, simple as that. Targeting doesn't even enter the equation here.
As for two Angers damaging the Obliterator, the first one deals 3 damage to it, so it triggers, and when that resolves you sacrifice 3 permanents. The second one also deals 3 damage to it, it triggers, then dies is exiled, then the trigger goes on the stack, and when it resolves, you sacrifice 3 more permanents.
Remember, the source of a trigger only has to be around when the trigger event occurs, which can be at any moment during the game, including during the casting of spells, or resolution of objects on the stack, among others. Once triggered, that trigger will make it to the stack and resolve, no matter what happens to the source after the trigger event.
