If a card says "whenever you tap a creature for mana" it means "whenever you tap a creature as a cost to activate a mana ability" or it means "whenever you tap a creature for the sake of generating mana"?
For example... lets say I have and enchantment that says "whenever you tap a creature for mana, add an additional G".
If I tap Llanowar elves, it will generate GG, that's kind obvious.
If I control Heritage Druid and tap 3 elves... will it produce GGG, GGG + G or GGG + GGG ?
Thanks a lot for any help!

106.11. To “tap [a permanent] for mana” is to activate a mana ability of that permanent that includes the {T} symbol in its activation cost. See rule 605, “Mana Abilities.”

Heritage Druid won't trigger such a thing.
