When does the choosing/"may" part of the triggers from Savra, Queen of the Golgari happen exactly?
I could rephrase the question to "Do my opponents know whats happening before the trigger resolves"
Hypothetical Example 1 (Green):
I sac a green creature.
Do I...
a) choose right then if a trigger get's created that reads "when this resolves you gain two life"
or
b) create a trigger that reads "when this trigger resolves you may gain 2 life or you may not"?
Hypothetical Example 2 (Black):
I sac a black creature.
Do I...
a) choose right then if I pay two life and a trigger get's created that reads "when this resolves opponents sac a creature"
or
b) create a trigger that reads "when this trigger resolves you may pay 2 life. If you do opponents sac a creature"?
If b) were correct (wich is my assumption right now) am I right in thinking, that the whole resolution of the trigger is one continous event and if I chose to pay two life, the saccing happens without using the stack (a second time)?
Savra's first trigger first has you choose wether to pay 2 life or not. If you choose to pay, each other player will sacrifice a creature. Both effects are part of the same trigger. There is no second trigger here. (Note, that this is different from abilities that use the wording "when you do" instead of "if you do". The "when" wording was introduced with Amonket, and does create a second trigger. But "if" is just a check for wether what follows the clause also happens or not.)
For Savra's second trigger you also choose wether to gain life when it resolves, and then you gain the life if you chose to.
"may" is part of the instructions. At the time you would follow the instructions - specifically, that instruction of that sentence - the word 'may' makes it a choice: The player can choose either for the given thing to happen (if that thing is possible), or to do nothing.
The instructions are followed only when the ability resolves. Outside of resolving, an ability is moved to the Stack as a function of its trigger condition, which has no overlap with the instructions. An ability is assigned information like targets, a value for X, and the distribution of an effect at that time, but, for Savra, none of that applies. The choice you make through the word 'may' is made "while applying the effect" (CR608.2d). All your opponents "know" at the last moment for their response, is the text of the ability.
