Hi, I have 5 mana available. Cast faithless looting, then put an unburial rites into the yard. Do I say "hold priority" so that I can flashback the rites and avoid the opponent surgical extraction on it?
Once looting successfully resolves, you will naturally have priority again. Your opponent cannot cast spells or activate abilities until you pass priority again.
So, while you can cast Unburial Rites with no fear of it being Surgicalled, the target of your Unburial cast will be vulnerable to Surgical.
Oh, I see. That's a nice way to explain it. I guess after rites is cast, the opponent can still respond to target the creature in the yard with a surgical.
